I've had Handoff working flawlessly between my 2013 rMBP, iPad Air, and iPhone 6 (both on iOS 8) since 8 got released, but right after I updated to the final build of Yosemite 10.0, my MacBook completely won't work with Handoff.

I have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Handoff enabled.

You need to be running iOS 8.1. It'll be out on Monday.

2011 Mac Minis -along with 2011 MacBook Airs- are artificially blacklisted in OS X 10.10. Disabling that blacklist should enable handoff and other continuity features. It worked for my 2011 MBA.

Detailed steps to do this are available here. Please let us know the outcome if you give it a shot.

Really? My mid-2011 Mac Mini isn't even showing the option under settings > general. With official documentation showing support for the mid 2011 Mini, I don't understand why they would blacklist it.

You need iOS 8.1 for Handoff? As in throwing Safari or Mail between Mac and iOS? And that thing that already works between iOS devices running 8.0.x?

Apple, I'm usually a fan, but if that's true, you've been so SNAKE lately.

Apologies for my ignorance toward the other places this was mentioned!

After logging out and in of iCloud on both my rMBP and iPhone 5S, turning off and on Bluetooth on by my rMBP and iPhone 5S, rebooting both the phone and rMBP, I can finally get communication from my iPhone 5S to my rMBP (icon shows up next to the dock in Yosemite).

please help,

so, i'm able to get hand off to work from mac to iphnone 6 plus but not the other way around. if I'm on safari on my MB PRO MID 2012, i can see the safari logo on my iPhone lock screen. However, if i'm on safari on my iPhone 6 plus, i can't see the bouncy hand off next to the finder on the dock. Could some one tell me what's going on? when i get a call, i do see it on my mac and i can also make calls from mac. But the apps are not handing off.

I also have a Mac Mini 2011. My LMP version is 0x6, and it shows that bluetooth low energy is supported.

HOWEVER, it says handoff is not supported! What gives?? This is supposed to work according to the list of supported machines.

EDIT: WOW, it was supported in the early betas, and it is now no longer supported! Way to get my hopes up. That's a real **** move if the bluetooth hardware supports it but they decided not to anyway to make the requirement models 2012 or newer.

See my post above. This really stinks.

----------

I am having some issues with handoff and continuity on my mac mini server (Mid 2011). So, here is the rub. First of all, according the my system report, low energy Bluetooth is supported (=Yes), however I could not find any info about Continuity or Handoff. It is not listed there for some reason.

If I do a search for "handoff" in system preferences I get redirected to the "general" section, but the option to enable handoff is not there.

What's strange is that I can make calls from my mac to say my friend's cell phone. The problem, however, is that I can hear him, but he can't hear me. I've tried changing mic inputs in Settings and the Messages app, but it didn't seem to have fixed the issue I am having.

I was able to get handoff/continuity to work on my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini, following the directions I found on this forum (thank you btw!), however I can't for the life of me get it to work on my mac.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Please help!

See my post above. You are able to get calls and texts to work because it is separate from handoff (and your call bug is an issue that may be resolved with 8.1). We are screwed with our Mac mini 2011.

Can I just say, I was able to call on my Mac via my iPhone without having Bluetooth enabled, how come everyone here insists you have it on?
I thought this was all done via WiFi?

I've got it working finally. iPhone 6, Haswell 15" rMBP.

I've turned Handoff, FaceTime, bluetooth, and anything else that seemed worth trying on and off. I've then restarted the phone several times and the laptop. It seems to pick up Safari and Mail for continuity ok, but no SMS. Airdrop works well though, I sent a photo to my Mac easily and quickly.

Voice calling; didn't work first time. I got a message saying my iPhone and Mac must be on the same wifi network, which they clearly are. It then worked fine on three subsequent attempts.

There's a slight lag while the phone and laptop recognise each other, it's not as smooth a process as I expected. Hopefully iOS 8.1 helps.

Per Apple's document SMS won't work until iOS 8.1 hits.

I've been able to receive a call on my iMac from a landline but I can't seem to make a call to one. I can't click on a phone number in a website or even dial a number from one of my contacts. Any solution for this?

I have the exact opposite. I can make a call but not receive one.

I guess "it just works" doesn't really apply to this yet lol

Ok I take back my sarcasm. I think I figured it out. Highlighting the phone number on a website presents a little drop-down arrow. From there I can make the call. And that is exactly how they demoed it at the Keynote, so my bad.

Ditto. Everyone keeps saying Finder should say "Everyone" but I've yet to see how to turn this on. I'd just like to get AirDrop to work between my Mac and iPad.

Just click on the blue text at the bottom and you can change if you like to use contacts only or everyone or none.

Have all that working but no hand-off at all despite being on the same wi-fi and also on same apple id???? Anyone knows what is the problem?

I have the same problem as wolfpackfan and others. My mid-2011 MBA does not show up in Airdrop in Finder. (but since I can see Airdrop, I assume my hardware is compatible).

FWIW, I can make calls from my MBA

ljmac: there is no blue text at the bottom, when I right click on the Airdrop logo ore black text, I can choose get Get Info. Interestingly, I when I click on it, and then open More Info, its says "Fetching" but spins continuously and never gets info.

I am unable to have my Iphone 6+ to connect via Bluetooth to my macbook air for handoff but I can have my mackbook air connect to my Iphone6+ using personal hotspot.

This is a brand new Macbook air (i got it last month), I did the Yosemite update last night. Iphone 6+ is running 8.0.2. I get the notification to pair, I press the button and than it times out. I do have an device management profile running on my phone because of corporate email but they email me out the policy and they allow handoff. The features has been enable on my phone. I tried to log out of icloud of both macbook air and iphone 6+. I also did restart of both devices.

Note : My ipad 2 connects fine to Macbook Air using Bluetooth. Of course handoff is not supported.
