I can't get calls to work. Everything else is working, but when I receive a call, it doesn't show on my computer. At work, we use Cisco Jabber and I think it's somehow hijacked my contacts calling feature. When I try calling from the contacts app, it launched Jabber instead of just calling. I have deleted the Jabber address book plugin, and set Messages as the default IM application. I'm signed in with my iCloud on both devices and FaceTime. Anybody else using Jabber and know how to stop it from trying to be the default calling app? I haven't tried just deleting the whole app altogether, but might unless someone know a fix.

I had the same issue and finally got it working on my computer. From FaceTime, go to Preferences and on the Setting tab at the bottom where it says Default for Calls select FaceTime. This sounds like its going to make FaceTime open but once I changed this, when clicking Call Using iPhone on a number it calls with Continuity and does not open the FaceTime.

Installed Yosemite GM Release Candidate on my Mac Mini mid 2011. Under settings - system report - Bluetooth, although Bluetooth low energy is shown as being supported, it now states handoff is NOT supported on this model :(

So just because Bluetooth LE profile is supported doesn't guarantee handoff is.

2011 Mac Minis -along with 2011 MacBook Airs- are artificially blacklisted in OS X 10.10. Disabling that blacklist should enable handoff and other continuity features. It worked for my 2011 MBA.

Detailed steps to do this are available here. Please let us know the outcome if you give it a shot.

When using Handoff for Messages, should the text I have already entered into my phone show up in the message box on the computer?

I thought this was how it was going to work, but all it seems to do is just bring up that particular conversation without any text.

I have everything working except for the icon on my iPhone lock screen? If I'm writing an email or on safari or writing a text on my iPhone I get the icon on my MBP. Calls and SMS work on the MBP. If I'm doing emails or texts or Safari on the MBP nothing shows up on my iPhone 6 Plus.
Thoughts?
iOS 8.1 beta 2 and Yosemite GM 2

So I have Handoff working with my Air running public beta (the latest) and my iPhone 6+ on 8.1b2, but I can't get the phone calls to work. When I enable the toggle in the FaceTime settings, it says "Cannot turn on iPhone cellular calls. FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls." Both iCloud and FaceTime are logged in using the same Apple ID; I even deleted all involved accounts and re-added them slowly to no avail. Any ideas?

Just want to say that I have the exact opposite problem you have. I get the handoff icon on my phone but not my mac. It worked once when I first installed Yosemite a couple of public betas ago but it hasn't worked since than. I just hope it all gets iron out in time for the official release.

I'm not sure if this has been covered or not,

but I've got it to work on my phone, ie, I can see safari on iPhone when it's open on Mac.

but vice versa isn't working ? ...

have googled an someone said about signing out of iCloud on mac... when I've gone to do that it says it'll remove all dats in Mac stored via iCloud, is this recommended ?

I searched the Internet for hours trying to figure out how to get Hand off and Continuity and phone calls to work. I thought I'd put all that stuff in one place and hopefully save someone the trouble of trying to collect this information themselves.

Initial Steps:

-On your Mac go to About this Mac > System Report. Under the Bluetooth Category your LMP version needs to be 0x6.. Anything lower And the hand off feature will not work. I have heard phone call do however.

-On Your Mac: Go to system preferences > General > and click the "allow handoff" box at the bottom.

-On your iDevice Go to settings > general > and enable hand off.

-On your Mac open FaceTime and go to preferences. Check the "allow iPhone calls" box.

Next few steps:

- Make sure Bluetooth and Wifi are turned on for both devices.
- Make sure you are logged in to the same iCloud account on both devices.
- Make sure that your FaceTime is also logged in to the same account (this is needed for the phone calls feature to work).
- Make sure you are on the same Wifi network. Especially if you have a dual band Router. Both devices need to be on the same band to work. Don't connect to 2.4ghz on on device and 5ghz on the other.

How to verify Hand off actually works or not:

- If you open a web page in Safari on your iDevice you should get a bouncing icon on your Mac computer dock that shows up on the left end of the dock (it will kind of look out of place).

- If you open a web page on your Mac with Safari the lock screen of your iDevice should show an icon opposite the camera icon. Swipe up to open it.

Making phone calls

Open the contacts app on your Mac IF you click the phone icon it should say calling using iPhone.

Hope this helps.

P.S. you do NOT need to pair your devices.

Forgot to add if Safari is in private mode it doesn't hand off.

Hello,

i was wondering if you might be abler to help,

the handoff feature works on my iPhone, but not on the mac ?

The FaceTime calling works, bur when i open mail, safari or messages on my phone, it doesn't appear in the dock of my mac.

But vice versa WILL work.

iPhone 6 and rMBP, same network, bluetooth on, same iCloud. None of the handoff/continuity features work. Nothing shows up on either device, can't send/receive calls or text messages from the Mac. Only AirDrop works occasionally.

Exactly the same here on an early 2013 rMBP...Any ideas?

Quite frustrating! I've tried the whole sign out of iCloud on iOS & OS X too...

Like others here, everything is working except getting icons in the dock on my Mac.

And it's a Late 2013 15" rMBP so yes it's capable.

I had it working in the Public Beta and now have it working from Mac to iPhone, but my Mac is not picking up Continuity from my iPhone in Mail or Safari. Haven't even tried phone calls yet.

is the bluetooth between the phone and mac suppose to be "connected"?

Text that I start on either phone or mac do not transfer over to each other(not sure if they are suppose to) but they do open to the right person I am sending the text to

Email seems to be working that does transfer over everything how it's suppose to

Maps seems to be working

Notes doesn't show up on either phone or mac

I got Handoff working with my rMBP 15" and iPad Air. However, if I want to handoff an email, either device is just not able to load the mail I started on the other one.
On the iPad I get the error "Failed to continue activity, The Operation couldn't be completed. Connection reset by peer." if I want to continue a mail started on the mac.
On the MacBook the whole email application becomes unresponsive when trying to load the mail started on the iPad.

Any solutions?

Will a 2009 mac support FaceTime calls? I can make them from my mac with my iPhone but i can't seem to receive them.

Looks like calls and SMS go through WiFi, but Apps and Emails go through BT.

Also, if you don't seem to get Handoff happening, make sure you update the Apps on both Mac and iPhone.

My observations:

BT Logo will show Standby (no active connection) while Handoff icon are showing on either device. When you trigger it, it will connect and transfer whatever info is necessary. It will then disconnect after a minute or so. It will show a re-connect if you trigger it again from either device.

Your devices need to be paired, but it does not have to be Connected for things to work.

So Continuity won't work if your Apple ID and your iCloud ID are different?

I created an Apple ID long before iCloud even existed - and have always had the two different accounts / emails. However, when I try to turn on Continuity - I get a message that says:

"FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls."

So in my iMessage and FaceTime apps, I have my cell number, and my Apple ID associated. I try to add my iCloud / me.com account -- but it won't let me for some reason. It says "email sent" but I don't know where that email is being sent, because it isn't sent to either my regular email (Apple ID) nor to my iCloud (@me.com).

Anybody else deal with this issue?

Here is what I've got:
iPhone 5S with iOS 8
rMBP late 2013 with Yosemite (today's release)

I've got Instant Hotspot working (if I have the setting turned on in the iPhone settings)
I've got the calls working (I can make calls from my rMBP and receive calls on my rMBP)
I've got handoff working FROM the rMBP to the iPhone
I CAN'T get handoff working from the iPhone to rMBP (sounds like others are having this issue as well). In other words, if I have Apple Maps open on my iPhone, I don't get the handoff icon on the dock of my rMBP.

Anyone able to find a fix yet?

Thanks in advance.
