I can't get calls to work. Everything else is working, but when I receive a call, it doesn't show on my computer. At work, we use Cisco Jabber and I think it's somehow hijacked my contacts calling feature. When I try calling from the contacts app, it launched Jabber instead of just calling. I have deleted the Jabber address book plugin, and set Messages as the default IM application. I'm signed in with my iCloud on both devices and FaceTime. Anybody else using Jabber and know how to stop it from trying to be the default calling app? I haven't tried just deleting the whole app altogether, but might unless someone know a fix.

This might be the same issue I'm having as well. My setup at work is the same as yours, wifi and ethernet, and handoff works, but not phone calls. I originally thought it was Jabber, but it might be this issue. I haven't tried at home yet on just wifi, but will tonight.

Did you make sure you followed enabled iPhone Cellular calls in the FaceTime.app?

-On your Mac open FaceTime and go to preferences. Check the "allow iPhone calls" box.

Next few steps:

- Make sure Bluetooth and Wifi are turned on for both devices.
- Make sure you are logged in to the same iCloud account on both devices.
- Make sure that your FaceTime is also logged in to the same account (this is needed for the phone calls feature to work).

I can't get handoff to work. I have iPhone 4S with iOS8 and Yosemite on rMBP late 2013, and I tried it on every seed available. No luck. I had SMS working in previous build, and I have calls working, but not handoff. I noticed BT service crashes on iPhone, so probably something is wrong with my phone. And I don't have HandOff on/off switch in Settings / General on iPhone. I've run out of ideas already about how it is possible to get it working...

I have ios8 on 4s and 5s.

The handoff option vanished on 4s in latest build

Getting features working on 5s is hit or miss. (Usually miss)

With each update I keep hoping for better function but not solid yet.

I can't seem to get anything to cooperate with calls/sms/safari handoff/continuity etc. I followed the directions in the OP but nothing seems to work. Not trying to highjack the thread but any suggestions/thoughts are appreciated and may help others.

Yosemite PB1 on mid 2012 rMBP (confirmed 0x6)
iOS8 beta4 on iPhone 5s
Confirmed handoff is turned on iPhone 5s (general settings)
Confirmed FT prefs to use iphone cellular on Mac
Confirmed logged onto the same itunes/facetime/icloud account
Confirmed same network on my dual band router
Bluetooth is turned on on both my iPhone 5s and my rMBP

Have restarted both devices numerous times...

thanks

I have iOS 8 and Yosemite, and from what I understand, Continuity works via bluetooth AND wifi, but I'm inclined to say that's not 100 percent true.

I have bluetooth turned off on my mac, and I'm still getting notifications from my phone on it. For example, I got a phone call this morning, and my Mac started ringing. Then it wouldn't stop until I quit the Facetime application.
The phone was not on wifi, and bluetooth was turned off on the mac, so how did Continuity pick up the phone call on the mac?

Anyone get this while trying to enable calls in FaceTime?

Yep. I got a similar message on my iPhone, but logging off and logging in FaceTime back with exactly the same Apple ID e-mail address used in iCloud settings worked fine in iOS 8 beta 4. I have several e-mail aliases used for logging into the same Apple ID, so this must be the case.

As for Yosemite DP4, had no luck. Relogging into the main iCloud account with the "primary" e-mail alias should solve the problem, yet it's a significant amount of data to reload.

I got a phone call this morning, and my Mac started ringing. Then it wouldn't stop until I quit the Facetime application.

Moreover, my iMac was on for a couple of days while I went to the country for the weekend, and it continued ringing all that time with no iPhones in proximity. FaceTime app was running when I came back.

this might be a silly question...

does facetime need to be on/running to receive calls on the mac? I kinda assumed that the call/phone features would notify you of calls even if FT was off - similar to iMessage delivering messages even though it is not listed in the active apps

When it worked for me on DP 3, FaceTime app was not running and I still was able to receive calls.

thanks sh1ny-

I did just manage to receive a call but happened to have FT active/on at that time. I'll shut it down and wait to see if it works without.

Other than that one call I have yet to successfully hand off anything via maps/safari etc.

So I swear I saw that there is a known bug with people who are on a Wifi and a Ethernet Connection at the same time that they have a problem with handoff.

I have the following setup at work, Macbook pro is on a Wifi and Ethernet Connection, iPhone and iPad are on the same Wifi network. When I open webpages, messages, emails, etc all of them handoff without issue. But phone calls do not go through.

When I go home and I am on my wifi network at home, phone calls work fine as well as everything else.

So am I crazy that I am think it is the Wifi? Has anyone else experienced this.

Thanks

Ok I did a test, I disconnected from the ethernet, no luck on calls but Handoff still worked fine. Then I decided to run my MBP through my wifi hotspot on my iPhone and then handoff my iPad to the MBP using too separate wifi and the handoff worked just fine. So I am think Wifi has little to do with it.

I got the same result as here:

When I try calling from Contacts, it open and close FT very fast.
With FT open, I can see a box open and close without any info.
I have laready restarted both, iPhone and MBP. Nothing changes

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I got the same result as here, instead I'm using last version of Yosemite Beta (Installed yerterday)

AFAIK PB1 is the latest. I installed it early this morning.

Sorry, no ideas on your issue. I can call from contacts with no issues.

At the end, the version I have is DP (Checked on Purchases), I assume is 4 since I downloaded yesterday. Now, I can see I have an Update available called "OS X 10.10 Update 1.0", Not sure to install it or not.

Yes, sorry the confusion, I edited my comment about PB.
Tnks.

Great question, but I think Bluetooth plays a role, so if that's turned on I would assume it would work? Not entirely sure.

I could have sworn I told everyone in this thread. Handoff works via Bluetooth. Wifi or Ethernet play no role. I even post a screen shot with wifi disabled. Guys come on attention to detail.

I suspect it won't work flawlessly until the gold master. I've been using yosemite 24/7 since dp1. It's always been spotty.

Can't find handoff in beta 4

I've got beta 4 installed no my 3rd gen iPad but I have no handoff toggle under general in settings. Any suggestions? A complete restore didn't solve anything

I was having issues getting everything going but it seems to have set itself up. Only issue is that I cannot send a text message. I can see them fine but when I send a response, nothing happens, the message just disappears.

Sorry, didn't read every post.

Finally, that was my issue. I decided yesterday to install DP to give it a try. Doing this, it just install DP1, so, I needed to go throw every update one by one. Now, on DP4, all works.

Hope this help someone else.
