I've got beta 4 installed no my 3rd gen iPad but I have no handoff toggle under general in settings. Any suggestions? A complete restore didn't solve anything

Same issue. The option was there for the iPad 3 on beta 3 (though handoff didn't work for me at all ...). I just hope they will bring it back in the next beta(s) ^_^

Testing Handoff Iphone calling

So I have made a number of tests with calls and have had interesting experiences.

In my office regardless of which Wifi my phone, iPad and MBR are on, I am unable to make calls but can handoff everything else fine. (SMS is still not 100% there)

But as soon as I go home, no problem what so ever. Only difference, different Wifi.

However...on a cool note, my wife was listening to a podcast on my iPhone and I used my computer to call Papa Johns for a pizza and she had no idea I did it and it did not interrupt the podcast.

Some users have reported the using AC only and this solves their same issues.

Finally, that was my issue. I decided yesterday to install DP to give it a try. Doing this, it just install DP1, so, I needed to go throw every update one by one. Now, on DP4, all works.

Hope this help someone else.

To clarify, you were able to send SMS messages from your Messages app? On the public beta we can receive SMS in the app but not send them.

Anyone get this while trying to enable calls in FaceTime?

I'm getting this exact same issue as well. Continuity and Handoff seems to be transferring from Yosemite to my iPhone 5S just fine, but it does not seem to be working the other way around. Maybe this is related?

Just to let everyone know once again. Wifi has nothing to do with continuity. BLUETOOTH 4.0/LE is the main method of connectivity for these features to work.

iPhone cellular is not working 100% in the betas. Its been like this since DP1. Theres nothing to solve here. Don't waste your time.

As for handoff. If its not working. Try rebooting. Make sure your bluetooth is enabled on which ever devices your trying to hand off to. And make sure you signed into your apple id.

Please stop passing bad info regarding wifi and continuity. OP please edit your guide. The parts regarding wifi are confusing people. Wifi is not needed to get any of the continuity features to work. None of them.

So if you want to use continuity make sure you have the proper version of bluetooth. Which is bluetooth 4.0 /LE.

Do you have to have tethering enabled on your phone to pair it with Bluetooth?

I can pair my iPad (data plan with hotspot enabled from Verizon), but when I try to pair my iPhone 5s (data plan without hotspot from AT&T), it connects for about 3 seconds and drops.

That's the only thing I can think of. Driving me absolutely nuts.

Thanks in advance.

I could have sworn I told everyone in this thread. Handoff works via Bluetooth. Wifi or Ethernet play no role. I even post a screen shot with wifi disabled. Guys come on attention to detail.

I suspect it won't work flawlessly until the gold master. I've been using yosemite 24/7 since dp1. It's always been spotty.

Well you're just plain wrong. Bluetooth is off on my mac, yet handoff sends phone calls to it.

Was having the same issue too for a few minutes, then I figured out the problem, at least for me.

Go to your Mac and check the iCloud login information.
Go to your iDevice and check the iCloud login information.

It has to be the same email, regardless if its the same iCloud account.

I logged out of iCloud on both my Mac and iPhone. Logged in on both with the SAME email and then it finally enabled. It may take a minute for it go through the servers. Just make sure everything is the same.

Hope that helps!

Can see/receive sms but can't send. Can make and receive calls. No icon appearing either on mac or iPhone to 'continue where I left off'. Was looking forward to that.

I have both handoff and continuity working however when I make or receive a call from my mac (mac mini late 2012) I can hear the person through my speakers but the mic in my webcam doesn't seem to transmit my voice to the caller.

I know it works otherwise as it works perfectly well during FaceTime calls.

Also on the mac settings > sound > input > the input level bar shows that its picking up my voice.

Anyone know why it just doesn't work for the calls side of things?

I'm very frustrated.

I have done everything everybody recommends, and I still get NO continuity functions to work. ugh. iPhone 5S and a late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina.

BT LE is NOT required for SMS/Calls. This will (and does) work on old devices without BT LE. Stop spreading incorrect information.

Prove it.

Prove it.

I actually just tested this and It does NOT work with bluetooth off. You guys forget that theres massive threads on this stuff from when the very first dev preview was released.

I doubt any of my naysayers have read those threads. Theres lots of users that have done all of the research. Done all of the tests. Done all of that stuff and shared their findings.

People have calls and SMS working on 2008 macs and iPad 2's. Don't be so dopey. They don't have BT LE.

SMS? Really??? i was referring to things like handoff and instant hotspot mostly. What does SMS have to do with bluetooth? Totally unrelated.

SMS and FaceTime audio are more server side implementations. Has nothing to with this thread at all.

How did you manage to get calls working? Im having a hell of a time doing so.
Also from DP1 til now. Sms has been pretty spotty. I haven't been able to send a single sms today. But everything worked well yesterday under pb1.
