I wasn't but since you asked:
UncleSchnitty Donations
With that I can keep ontop of the trouble shooting and to keep everything up to date. It would be very kind if you could.
But don't forget DokterDoks donations because he did all the work on writing that tool.

iMacs are tricky, you technically can do it with a card and adapter however I have only tried it on 08 iMacs. I honestly have no way of testing on other machines to see if it fits inside
Thats correct the 17inch are not comparable with upgrades (its not the antennas its that it doesn't fit in the hinge, its too wide. Ill update the op to clarify this.I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2010, 17" (Model A1297) and unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't look like the would be compatible BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX with it based on the pictures of the existing card in it on iFixIt.
Reason being it looks like the new card has a different number of Antenna, and connector at the bottom am I correct?
Also, I know it's been said that they don't, but I was wondering if there was a specific reason as to why BT4.0 LE USB sticks with the broadcom chipset that work fine for enabling Bluetooth Low Energy do not work?
Many Thanks!
If i had Asked 1$ every time I help in the last 3 months ? i would be rich, damn, i'm too dumb
Just like I explained Here DokterDok's donations on his site go to him alone as they should because of his great work on the tool itself. I am only responsible for the research/writeup/instructions on the OP and any assistance I give here on this forum. Anything anybody gives is incredibly generous and greatly appreciated.
My mistake, I didn't mean so. I was just thinking out loud.Thats correct the 17inch are not comparable with upgrades (its not the antennas its that it doesn't fit in the hinge, its too wide. Ill update the op to clarify this.

Hah I didn't ask, someone asked me if I was so I figured why not. But I agree I think we would all be rich if people donated $1 overtime we gave out help. Im not trying to solicit people asked, thats why I'm not putting it in the original post and I only reposted my response because people thought that dokterdoks went to me and it doesn't nor should it. I promise I'm not trying to be greedy or cash in hah. I would never have posted anything if people didn't ask.
The tool has to modify out of the Systems folder and you need to be admin for that hence the "sudo" commands. But you are correct that would be nice but not a necessity since if you're doing these kinds of edits then you should be the "admin" of the computer.I gave to DokterDok as well.
One gotcha for those of us who run as non-admin, when the Continuity Activation Tool runs calling sudo and asks for the admin password, since the current user is not admin the terminal starts with that user and you get something like "user not authorized for sudo will be reported".
It would be great if the Tool could figure out in that case that it needs to allow you to manually login in the terminal to the admin account and then run the scripts as then sudo will work.
Is that clear?

To clarify the issue for a Late 2009 iMac: It uses two cards. To make this solution work you need to replace the two separate cards (WiFi and Bluetooth) with one card. That single card would need to go into the slot where the current WiFi card lives. That card slot is called a MPCIE (micro or mini PCI Express).
The unknown is the USB signal. The system talks to the new Bluetooth and / or WiFi via USB. If there is USB circuitry there then chances are good it might work. If there's not another hardware mod would be necessary.
Do I understand this correctly?
Furthermore: if it's compatible this would be the card and adapter to do it?

So there is no hope to my 2011 17'' MBP?
Bahh...
Oh yes there is! New cax card required and this app!
Amazing work UncleSchnitty, DocterDok & Co!) but what do you think about 10.10.1,..? can apple break this hack, and if so, will you keep support us further? thanks!
But they are saying that the new card doesn't fit in the BT spot on the 17''... Or did i read that wrongly?
I just noticed in the iFixIt comments that someone said:Thats correct the 17inch are not comparable with upgrades (its not the antennas its that it doesn't fit in the hinge, its too wide. Ill update the op to clarify this.
I used the one here for my 08 iMac here But I have not seen any testing done with any other iMacs. They will work with the new adapter but we don't know if it will physically fit in or if it needs a usb adapter as well. What kind of adapter should I buy to fit the BCM94360CD card into a mid-2011 iMac?
No the Ax is the BT 2.1 card.Would a BCM94331PCIEBT4AX work instead of a BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX.
If it does use the Pro 15" card tray then it will work. You can always give it a shot. But I can't really confirm that unless you open up your mac and take a picture so I can see for sure if it has that tray with the card or not.I just noticed in the iFixIt comments that someone said:
"Just a note for anyone looking at this guide with a MacBook Pro 17" mid 2010 model (2.6GHz) - this is the wrong guide for your laptop! Search for the MacBook Pro 15" mid 2010 Airport board replacement guide instead. The card is located on top of the optical drive rather than in the bezel - something i found out the hard way when following this "
So I can only assume that the one shown in the guide is newer e.g. a 2011 model and that's the one it's not compatible with?
Having said that, the airport card shown in the guide that's apparently correct for the Mid 2010 17" only has 3 antenna holes not 4, and the holes are in different locations, so I think it still would not work even for that.
Please let me know and I will update accordingly.I have a Late 2009 iMac 27" i7 model. I already purchased the Broadcom BCM94360CD. I just ordered this adapter from eBay. It says clearly that this it the adapter for this Braodcom card.
Once it arrives I'll try the install and see how it goes.
Unfortunately that has the wifi card in the hinge so there is no card that size to replace it with.Don't sepose its possible to enable hand off on a mid 2007 macbook pro with modefide kexts and/or new HW? thanks
Unfortunately you cant really tell from looking at it, with that its truly try and see.How would we know if there is USB circuitry there? This is a photo of the inside of my late 2009 iMac 27" Core i7 2.8GHz. The AirPort card is near the bottom.
P.S. What of the fact that the AirPort card currently connects with only two antennae? It looks like the Apple Broadcom BCM94360CD requires three AirPort antennae and one Bluetooth antenna.

Understand. It just wasn't in the instructions to login as the admin as opposed to a user. So probably worth adding to the read me/instructions.
UncleSchnitty, thanks for the hard work on this.
A small correction for the list of supported devices: the late 2012 Mac mini is supported out of the box. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6337
Suggest that 'Mac mini late 2012-2014: Works OTB' be added...
The link above is for a BCM94331CD not a BCM94360CD. According to http://www.osxwifi.com/pre-order-ap...ac-bluetooth-4-0-with-adapter-for-macpro-2008I have a Late 2009 iMac 27" i7 model. I already purchased the Broadcom BCM94360CD.
