GitHub script failed for me?

I'm running 10.10 on a Mid-2011 11" MBA (MacBookAir4,1). I downloaded the github script and tried to run it and it seemed to run to completion, though it generated a bunch of errors complaining about invalid command line options for chmod and a couple of other unix command line tools, though I didn't save a screenshot.

On reboot, my system's WPA-Enterprise WiFi config was no longer available and I had to recreate it per my work's setup. Also the HandOff option didn't appear in the System Preferences::General.

When I run sudo ./contitool.sh diagnostic now, it tells me that "the whitelist is correctly patched with your board-id" But it doesn't seem to work.

help anyone?

Still no luck for me :(

MacBook Air 13" Mid-2011 (MacbookAir4,2) (base one, with an upgrade from the original SSD to a Transcend JetDrive 500 240GB) (My system is in french)

- I tried the manual steps first of all but forgot to backup the original Kexts and screwed up the edit part of the kext, so I formatted it with the Yosemite installer on USB stick with DiskMaker X.
- I tried again the manual steps, re-read 2-3 time each steps to be sure I wasn't doing something wrong, with every permissions repair, dev mode, deleting old kexts from the system folder, every reboots, everything. Everything worked fine but no option to check for enabling Handoff in System Preference -- General
- After that, I followed the steps to revert to original kexts :
1 sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"
2 reboot
3 delete old kexts in /System/Library/Extensions/
4 sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
5 sudo kextcache -system-caches
6 repair permissions
7 reboot
8 used kext drop for the backed up ones
9 sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
10 sudo kextcache -system-caches
11 repair permissions
12 reboot
- I tried the Continuity Activation Tool (the fixed version), everything was OK on the checklist of the tool, everything was patched fine. I followed all the steps at the end of the tool but still doesn't have the option to check in System Preferences, General.

Does someone have a clue about this?

Nobody? I'll try with the new 1.0.1 version!

We can share screen with Messages fonction. Did it a few times with 100% success.

If you agree, first : disconnect from icloud, facetime, messages and iMessage from Yosemite and iOs. restart your devices, then sign in.

Also, download Path Finder 7, its hexa editor and its 30 days trial is more than enough for me to help you. You can then delete it.

MacBook Pro 4,1 Early 2008

First of all: Amazing work!!

I have two questions regarding the following quote:
Note: Earlier MacBookPros then listed and 17"MBPs had the wifi adapter in the screen hinge so newer cards will not fit inside of them.

  1. I have an early 2008 MacBook Pro 4,1 (last non unibody). Is there any chance, I could fit the Wifi Card in anyway or find another model that might work?
  2. Is there an ETA on the dongle solution?

Yours is tricky, while technically you can put the card and adapter that are used in a MacPro/iMac I don't know if there is enough room to put the casing back together after because the adapted does add thickness. Also we are not certain if usb is run to the card slot, if it is then bluetooth 4.0 will work, if not it won't.

Until someone tries it we can't know for certain so I haven't put that on the list. If you feel like shelling out ~$85 to try it out it would be appreciated;). I would try with my card and adapter but I don't have access to that machine.

Mac Pro adapter?

There are actually a couple for each some have wifi ac some have wifi n. Also some need a adapter (iMacs) some don't so it's very hard to compile a compleat list of what cards work and don't.

Mac pros need an adapter and can use APPLE BROADCOM BCM94360CD

MacBook airs I recommend BCM94360CS2 because it is wifi ac as well as bt4.0 but that's not always necessery.

MacBook pros need the BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX

These may not be the only options and you should double check with someone who has done it just to be sure. I don't want people buying the wrong card because I "said so"

I have a 2009 Mac Pro. Can you supply information about the required adapter for the BCM94360CD? Thanks.

I already have Path Finder 7 registered, but can't screen share due to policy. Anything I could post here?

I ordered for my MacPro Here that comes with the card and adapter and wires for internal/external usb wiring.
With MacPros no Kext mods are required. Just put the card in and go.

BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX is a PCI express module. It does look like the same 30-pin connector, but the Early '09 Mini doesn't support PCI-e. I'm pretty sure if I plugged in the CAX module it'd just smoke.

Has anyone tried it?

Even '07 Mac mini supports PCIe so why wouldn't '09 do?

I'm thinking about replacing the Airport card in my Late '09 with BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX.
I don't think the different screw holes are a problem (probably only one can be used), but I'm a bit worried if the connector is really fully compatible, though UncleSchnitty claimed it is.

On peut utiliser la fonction de partage d'écran si tu veux, je peux te le faire à distance, balance ton icloud id, en 5 minutes c'est réglé.

So my handoff has only been working mac --> iPhone but not iPhone ---> mac. Someone said signing in and out of iCloud fixes it.

Tried so on my mac and didn't seem to make any difference. Anyone else have any suggestions by any chance? Thanks!

Just thought I would add, for anyone who's been able to get most, but not all apps working with Handoff or one direction but not the other, there are some steps that helped me get everything working the best as currently possible.

There seems to be issues that are not fully resolved. There's some sort of initial exchange with Handoff required and once it's done for each, everything works. There are exceptions when it comes to Pages, Keynote and Numbers.

So to get the stuff working that is not working yet, lock the screen of your iOS device and then open the compatible app in Yosemite. You'll see the compatible app icon on the bottom left of your iOS lock screen. Swipe up and unlock your iOS device. Now close down the app in Yosemite and quit it on your iOS device. Re-open the same app on your iOS device and you should now see the app icon appear in Yosemite. I have found that if you follow these steps, Handoff will work every time, in both directions with all of the compatible apps except for Pages, Keynote and Numbers.

For Pages, Keynote and Numbers, there are additional requirements and exceptions. These aren't officially documented requirements that I found from Apple, but instead just what I found works (with limits) for now.

1. You have to have iCloud Drive active
2. You have to share the document on iCloud from your Mac (Goto Share>View Share Settings...) - Be patient, it's not fast.
3. You have to have "Use iCloud" enabled in the app settings on iOS

Document handoff from Page, Keynote and Numbers on Mac to iOS works every time if you first share the document, but sharing from iOS to Mac doesn't work unless you have first shared the document from Yosemite and sometimes from iOS you also have to tap Share>Share Link via iCloud>Copy to get the icon to pop up on your Mac. Enabling the share setting for Handoff from iOS is not possible. The share settings only appear for files that have been first shared from Yosemite.

Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial!

I was really disappointed my mid-2011 iMac & Mac Mini were on Apple's cut off list for "Handoff continuity" support, but for now, this workaround made things more interesting while I can't upgrade my macs.

These BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX cards are really selling like crazy right now, which is causing prices to rise very rapidly.

I just purchased one 12 hours ago. Since then, the seller has doubled the price on Ebay.
Another seller I had my eyes on has more than tripled the price in the last few days!

I would encourage anyone looking to buy one of these cards to do so quickly before prices rise even more.

Best Place To Purchase

First of all, thanks so much for the fix. Incredible work!

As I've read the forum posts, I believe this is all I need and not an adapter. Am I right?

I see the BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX for my early 2011 17" MacBook pros on eBay. I don't see "CAX" on the photos of the cards. Should I be concerned with that? With these coming from China or Hong Kong, to return these is pricy.
Is there a known good place to buy BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX?

HamCannon, a couple of users have reported this issue. I've produced a tentative fix in the Continuity Activation Tool 1.0.2 beta and I'd be interested to know if this solves it.

Could you please restore the original Wi-Fi kext and try the latest beta?
To do that, first download Kext Drop. Then:

  1. delete IO80211Family.kext from /System/Library/Extensions/
  2. open Terminal
  3. type sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
  4. type sudo kextcache -system-caches
  5. go to /Users/(your user name)/KextsBackup . That's where the tool initially did the backup.
  6. open Kext Drop
  7. drag and drop the original IO80211Family.kext into the window, click install
  8. go back to terminal and type sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
  9. type sudo kextcache -system-caches
  10. repair permissions with the disk utility
  11. reboot
  12. try out the latest beta
