Grats to those first batch owners -jealous- :(

Post some about this mac screenies or unboxing vids for YT :D

After reading most of this thread, I see most people going with Crucial RAM instead of OWC. Is there any advantage of using Crucial over OWC? I would have no problem getting Crucial over OWC RAM but would perfer to save $40.

I went with the 250gb 5400 I believe. [snip] I suspect I went with the bigger slower one. That's my tendency as a rule.

Thanks for the feedback! I was a bit worried here that by adding additional RAM might be responsible for the slow down you noted. However, your clarification now suggests to me that drive spin speed can make a big difference.

Im curious to what kind of discounts people may or may have not gotten on the 2.6???

I used my 20% ADC discount for this baby:D That counted towards the book, the chip upgrade and the HDD upgrade:apple::apple:

Mine has run really cool... surprisingly cool...

but I haven't been pushing it that hard...

still.... this thing... so freaking awesome...

love it.

Typing on mine right now and loving it!!

However, i didn't have a small enough Phillips to unscrew the RAM compartment!!! :D

There' always "one more thing" to buy, isn't there?

Mine also runs fairly cool, although it had a spree of really intense heat and fast fan action for about 30 mins, and i was not even doing anything...(that was just after I put the 4 gigs of ram in) It's my first Mac and I have to say a beautiful piece of hardware. Do you guys use some kind of keyboard/screen protector when you close the lid?

thanks

Loved the intro movie. Also, I'm still surprised on how light weight this machine is. First mac and I'm BLOWN AWAY.

....They must have the greys working for them.... ;)

I found my 17" surprisingly heavy... It's been a while since I had a laptop though...
Can't wait to get my case.

Leopard already installed and Leopard full install disks.

After a few hours it checks in with Apple and you have a healthy upgrade download for much of the new software. Btw, the Iphoto 08 interface looks really sharp if nothing else.

Got Mine Yester Day Morning

Got mine yesterday, 17 inch gloss, 4 GigRAM , 200 GIG HD 7200

Amazing I was up and running in 15 minutes (if that!)

Just noticed that the hard drive shows 185 GIG instead of the 200 GIGS suppose to be installed. Anyone else notice that?

My guess is the fact that leopard is pre -installed , but just want to confirm. other than that
WOW love my MBP!!!!!

thanks

Mine just arrived today, a full day before it was originally scheduled to arrive as per the FedEx website.

I'm refusing to allow myself to open it until I make some phone calls etc. and get some work done. So now I'm just sitting here staring longingly at it.

This will be my first Mac of the new millenium.... my dearly departed Powerbook 165c was my last gasp before I was forced to switch to a PC for work. Can't wait to start playing with my MBP!

Mr. FedEx woke me up early this morning with this beautiful thing.

Had it up and running in a few minutes, no problems (other than trying to remember the hexadecimal indicator for wlan keys). I am thoroughly pleased. So light, and so quiet. Coming from my p.o.s. Toshiba A70, the build quality on this feels flawless.

Doesn't seem to run too hot at all, just a little nice warmth from the aluminum by the speakers during normal usage.

Changed the appearance to graphite, and I'm now in heaven.

I'm so jealous mine still hasnt shipped yet:(

And leopard does take over 10 gigs so 185 is very normal. It will never show maximum capacity anyway
