For any of you considering buying your phone without the f&f discount, there are two other discounts that aren't very well known that you might consider:

Firstly, many people know Apple has a veterans/military discount of 10%, but it's much easier to use than you might think. It applies to people in the military, veterans, and "anyone in their household". So if you have a grandpa who was a veteran, really anyone in your family, Apple says that discount applies to you too. I have confirmed the 12, 12 mini, 12 pro, and 12 pro max are all available with 10%, ready to ship right now.

Secondly, if you ask super nicely, Apple sometimes price matches, up to 10% off of the item's original value. So if Target has a promo for the 12 pro for $749, Apple might reduce the price of $899. As of today, Best Buy has a promo for $100 the 12 pro (link) and 12 pro max (link), if you activate the phone with a carrier. Out of curiosity, I called Apple's sales number (800 692 7753 in the US), and asked the lady if she would be able to price match (I didn't mention the carrier bit, I want an unlocked model), and she said yes. I did not go through with the order because I want to wait for the F&F discount, so I cannot guarantee this will work, but it's worth trying to save $100 bucks in my opinion!

I don't work for Apple so I won't be much help answering questions, I found all of this on Google. If you want more info on how to get Apple to price match, check out these two reddit threads:
