My 44mm Bambou arrived today!

Issues with setting up ApplePay though. Had to start over and skip that step. Otherwise everything is sweet!

The bambou color looks great! A little bit lighter than I expected judging from the pics from Apple and Hermes. Usually it's the opposite. Scarves and bracelets other leather accessories I've bought and received in person have tend to run more saturated and more vivid, their website pics never seem to do them justice. I'm really curious how the other colors like the jaune ambre and rouge piment and anemone look too!

The series 5 44m fauve barenia I bought earlier this year shipped from the next county over so it arrived the next morning, though I'm sure if I bought the watch right at release it would have shipped from China. I'm not sure where the series 6 I just ordered is coming from, the status just went to Preparing to Ship this morning so there's no tracking info yet.

I'm guessing that Hermes crafts the bands, sends them to Apple in China for bundling, then Apple ships it, at least while the products are newly released and over time the inventory starts to become available in domestic warehouses and stores etc.

Conversely, if your order directly from Hermes, I assume Hermes crafts the band in France, sends it to Apple in China, Apple bundles everything and ships the completed unit to the Hermes distribution center in NJ. Two long global tours. A "double tour" as it were... #verypunny #dadjoke

I really hope they give us a 40mm Bambou in the spring...

Indeed, you can buy either of them separately, the noir and the ebene barenia, from Hermes or Apple directly on their respective websites at $539 each. There used to be the fauve barenia but so far it looks like they discontinued that one since the series 6 rolled out.

*EDIT*. My bad I misread that, I now realize you asked just about the clasp itself. It can't be done as far as I know, as the clasp isn't something that can be installed to any regular Hermes leather watch band. That sure would be nice if you could turn any of your Hermes bands into a deployment style!
I am pretty sure you can convert any 44mm single tour to deployment with the clasp, but I don't believe they sell it separately. I would ask a boutique.

I'm not sure how that would even be possible. Looking at pictures and videos of the deployment clasp open, how would one affix it to shorter piece of the single tour band? I'm also thinking that since the watch has been out for years, there would already have been instructions or pictures or video of a DIY setup after someone acquires the deployment hardware, but I haven't seen anything at all.

Regarding the Bambou, it is rather odd that it's only in 44mm right now. I wonder why that is. Surely it can't be any sort of production issue.

Seems like a pretty standard choice. Jaune ambre follows rose jaipur, capucine, anemone, bleu paon, bord/rose, rose/sakura as the colors the industry would think appeal to smaller wrist people.

While bambou follows the “big wrist” colors lime, colvert, bleu lin, indigo/craie, bleu indigo.

Trying to avoid bringing gender into it...but I think it’s unavoidable.

The bambou looks gorgeous! Congrats! I’m still waiting for mine and probably won’t get it til the end of the week.

It’s totally possible. I’ve seen people in this thread attach the clasp to the Eperon d’Or Marine Gala band before and it looked amazing.

I suppose that makes sense come to think of it. I personally think it can be maybe just a little off-putting to make assumptions of gender based on colors or sizes. I've bought several 90cm scarves that are marketed towards women just because I think they look awesome. And I would love a collier de chien cuff in my size but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon if at all. Hermes is one of those "old world" luxury houses still set a little bit in their traditional ways I suppose. Don't wanna rock the boat too much with the old money crowd LOL.

You've earned my interest! The hardware is easily removable from the bands? If I had the ebene barenia deployment clasp band as well as any single tour band, it's that easy to perform a swap? Are they using an official Hermes deployment clasp or is it a third party solution?

Yeah the Hermes bands (and the tooling around their scarves and bags I do to scout colors) are my only contact with couture (somehow I resist the allure of Poshmark’s “parties”) but based on news stories where the Italian houses like to troll people of color with heinously retrograde racism and what we know about the enduring French colonial project...I can assume some of that thinking probably applies to gender. I’m just grateful to have 40mm-loving wrists so I can rock the more allegedly “femme” colors. I yoinked a Rose Jaipur today, so I got my red epsom for fall20 after all!

Oh and regarding arm hair and double tours...I actually don’t think it’s a gender bend issue as much as it is the double tour is so narrow that my arm hairs curl over and disrupt the design. Hence why black might look better for dark-haired hirsute people.

I think it just comes down to stitch ripping and can you find someone on the level with Paris to stitch it back up...

See this previous post where the clasp was attached to a band only sold in single tour. I believe the Hermès store will do the swap for you. Search “deployment” in this thread and you’ll find more info.

According to iFixit, there is a larger haptic motor in the watch. I do feel like the alerts are stronger but it could be my brain. Curious to see what others have to say on the haptic strength.

Also when pressing the crown it feels much better and high quality than my S5. I get the feeling they did something different with it. The side button also sits flush with the watch body. The side button on my S5 stuck out 1mm and you could feel it when pressing it. I would guess that Apple tightened the allowed tolerances on the side button as it feels much better.

Just three smaller thing you might not read in a normal write up.

Fascinating! I may look into this with the exact same unused clown strap that's been sitting in my closet. I'll have to talk to my SA at the local boutique and see what can be done. Thanks for sending me that post!

We should not start to think us into that gender-thing. Women never do it, they buy a male suit and wear it, if they like it. Men do have exactly the same rights. Let's do it, and the world will get used to it. And if not - what the heck...

And like clockwork every new iPhone release, anyone else looking forward to the plethora of “SHOULD I GET ROSE GOLD OR IS IT TOO FEMININE” and other similar posts? I mean come on people, get what *you* like!

Fully agree with you, purple here I come.

I think you got a dud S5, as I had no such problems with the crown nor side button!

Just got my Hermes S6. Is there anyway to remove the 12 3 6 9 etc? I see you can remove all but 12?

Just curious, whats the space black exclusive face?

I know this won't help much -- but I DID have an order for the S6 44mm SBSS Noir single tour placed on 09/15 with "Arrives on Sept 21-23". On release day my order was STILL on "Processing" ... but my local Apple Store had the same watch available for same day pickup. So I canceled the 09/15 order and picked it up from the Store.

I don't know what your current status is -- but mine never moved past "Processing"; even with other Hermès orders with later Delivery dates at "Preparing to Ship".
