Sorry no I mean is the AOD mode specifically brighter?

Don't buy the S6 for the "brighter" AOD mode. It isn't noticeably brighter at all. I've tested against my S5 and there is literally zero difference. If there is a difference, it must have to be specific watch face as the ones I tested were exactly the same. A change here may have occurred on paper, but not one that is noticeable to the human eye.

With that being said I'm not saying don't update to the S6, I'm just saying don't use that as a reason because you won't see a difference.

Yep, ordered the exact same for me and a double tour for my girlfriend at the same time, both initially the same delivery day. Double tour arrived on the 18th no problem and now Sept 30-Oct 5th for the SBSS Noir. No explanation for the change but here I wait along with you.

Finally someone in the same boat as me. I will keep you posted on the status of my order. It even seeems like Hermès themselves do not have the watches as their website says they wont ship until early October.

Heh mutual suffering is the easiest so I'm with you my friend. Really weird to have the date change so dramatically after being told launch day, but what can you do.

Damn, I may need to get a Hermes for this band alone, my favorite shade of Green.

You can buy just the band.

Remember the S5 has the ability to set the brightness based on ambient light, so its a safe assumption the S6 does too. My read of the upgrade is that it only goes brighter in bright light as it was touted as a benefit in daylight / outdoors / sunlight (I forget exactly what words were used).

Like saying that even matters. The 'every year club' will buy it regardless, if you want it get it.

I love how a dirty half price Epsom can be cleaned up so well...this guy had some black grime...all gone. Gonna coconut oil it now that I’ve properly photo’d. Watermelon face was clearly made for Rose Jaipur...

Why are they so tight? That just cannot be comfortable.

Is the extra loop decorative or for stability?
Do you mean the larger metal piece on top? That is decorative...

First batch of straps arrived from Hermès before the watch. Waiting on 2nd delivery of straps.

Question for all of you (especially those who have had the Orange leather band for a while): do you think the Orange leather band will eventually develop a dark patina?

Asking because I've previously mentioned that I've been VERY interested in getting a legit Hermès orange sport band; @FenC recommended eBay seller "Chargerstore" (thanks FenC!). I RECENTLY started considering the single tour Orange band (because it's only $200 more).

Here's the "issue": if the leather orange single tour band were to develop a dark patina, the effect of the orange will be gone.

Anyway: any input would be welcome!

how much would you pay for an orange sport band?

I would say the spectrum of the leather goes from Epsom (Invincible) to Barenia (The Patina is the Sauce). In between the Gala attractively wrinkles and the dark color fades a bit. The Swift seems to marry the best of the protective layer of the epsom with the natural grain “window” of the barenia.

I’m never going to use my Swifts consecutively enough to really know, but I think the vibrancy of the orange would hold up. The one old Swift I have is this etoupe that came well-used. A drab color, I know, but even with age it seems to have held its tone.

The double cuff is brand new—still haven’t seen it in person since gifting it! Darn quarantine! Obviously color correction is a major issue here...

Andrew:

If I could buy it from an Apple Store or an Hermès boutique: probably $150.

1000: thanks for your input (you certainly have the credentials :)

Strangely, I'd use the orange band almost every day; which is why I'm cautious about the patina issue.

Love your description! I have 2 of the older (wish they were still available) double buckle straps & love them so much!!

Mine is finally preparing for shipping. I hope it ships out in the next day or two, I'm hopeful I get it early.

Anyone keeping their S5 as a companion to the S6? I have the Hermes Space Black S5 and this time bought the Hermes S6 stainless. I really think I'm gonna keep both as something to switch back and forth with.

Today my Hermes box pile reached the absolute ceiling of its shelf in my IKEA bookcase...tomorrow I get ambre and rouge. So yes “credentials” is a nice way to put it. I would be willing to bet someone with Birkin bag knowledge would say the color holds up. I just did a quick run through all the “Hermes leather guides” and was reminded Gulliver/Swift is known for its ability to really pick up dye and make the color shine...and again there’s just a nice protective feel to the grain...

As for the Hermes sport band, I can also recommend the eBay guy, I’ve gotten a few for $115 and lucky to score one for $80 plus $14 UK shipping I shared with three other bands. Here’s one with a space black pin I posted earlier this week but I realized didn’t quite read as such because the silver pin is so reflective:
