so... i didn’t want to do this, but i did.

this is the result of someone combining a noir single tour with black hardware and an ebony deployment buckle band, resulting in a noir with silver deployment, and ebony with black.

the ebony isn’t my absolute favorite color, but i love the contrasting stitching (i also have the ebony deployment) and i loooove having another band with matching hardware for the black ss. i MIGHT see if a local watch shop can actually switch the hardware with one of my other colors that might go even better with the black.

I've thought about doing this myself, AFAIK both the lugs and buckle are removable on all the Hermes bands so swapping should technically be possible.

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but wanted to get everyone's opinion on what they thought was a fair price for a Hermes Series 5.

The watch comes with the original orange band and a Béton/Étain Hermès leather band. the Beton band does seem like it is in not the best shape, definitely some wear. Looking to buy it myself but don't want to overpay.

If you’re talking about the one that just dropped to $750 on poshmark, it’s a great deal. The leather is a little used but the Beton Della Cavalleria bands are basically impossible to find now so I would say go for it.

I’ve found Poshers to be very amenable to low ball offers, especially if they’ve just slashed their price by 100.

And here’s the band just to push you over the ledge, they’re so nice. Any Hermes scarf print is so special.

And perhaps you have absorbed how much we love the faces on here...I wasn’t quite planning to get my s4 Hermes, just really wanted the band the eBay listing came with, but the faces, especially the typefaces, are incredible.

The Béton/Étain strap is on my wish list, it's one of the few bands I really want to own. Hoping to find one in mint condition sometime. Most I find are either too expensive or too used for my taste ? Wonder if we'll get something as nice this spring.

If you have an Apple Watch Hermès attached to your Apple ID, you can chat with Apple support to replace a damaged orange sport band replacement for $49.

Your experience may vary, I suppose. But it can be done.

It turned out to be an inaccurate MacRumors bullet point. Maybe just something that will eventually be true of the GM? Something tells me there’s someone in Cupertino with a post-it note on their iMac that says “don’t leak Hermes colors” because Paris cares way more about their future leather than Apple does about the winter/summer sport band/solo loop colors we reliably see ahead of time in watchOS.

Lolol. I think the ”very fine people” on the Purple App (where I got my info) trying to kill the community over here all got in on the original beta.

Let us know how you like Etain/Beton. Once you see the “horsey ropes” artwork in person, you start to get why we pay these crazy prices.

I think the general consensus is that Hermès is still an old world fashion house holding onto dated concepts of gender norms so to speak. Men don't want brighter colors, only women have smaller wrists, etc. You see it in a lot of their other accessories. If you want a behapi triple tour leather bracelet, or a glenan double tour, etc. they're only in smaller "women's" sizes in a wider variety of colors. Behapi double or single tours etc. in "men's" sizes are in mostly darker colors.

Slowly over time they seem to be relenting but only so slightly. I've had my eye on a Collier de Chien leather bracelet cuff for awhile but you couldn't get the CdC in anything larger than a T3 or S size. Only recently have I seen a CdC finally appear on their site in an actual "men's" appropriate L size but it's only limited to the black leather. Even my SA at my local boutique was surprised to see it when I told her about it.

The same dated social concepts likely apply to what bands they decide to make in whatever sizes and colors they feel appropriate. Sales figures, actual as well as perceived, likely play a part too.
