Makes it an easy decision to hold if coming from a S7/8. Glad the SIP was finally updated although I don’t need more speed on the base Apple Watch. I’d prefer greater efficiency, but battery life appears the same again.

Well, they used the speed / energy budget for the brighter screen (plus on-device Siri and double-air-tap, I guess). Which makes a lot more sense to me, actually. Fast charging made all battery life concerns moot for me.

Their tick-tock on watch has always favored nailing new internals/tech and focusing on the external design challenges the following year, right?

When I used the S7/8 the battery would drain a lot (I work out 60-90 mins per day with GPS/Cellular). Fast charging helps, but it’s not enough and I don’t use the watch to sleep. I went back forth between S7/Ultra last year. I like the Ultra for battery life, but it is pretty big lol.

The Series Watch is a good design, but it’s not a Rolex Submariner… At least the S9 has some more significant updates compared to the S7 to S8. Not sure I love the new Hermes bands either, but the Kilim looks the best (for my tastes).

How is the Kilim? I preordered stainless steel with black Kilim but not sure of the combo. Perhaps navy is better?

Wow the new bands are awful for that price point.

The Kilim Single Tour is really nice. The others are just kinda meh, if I'm being honest.

The lack of new leather options is a bummer, but expected I guess.
Totally agree with you. The braided Bridon band reminds me of a craft project from a senior-living retirement home. I do, however, really like the Kilim Single Tour, especially in orange.

I'm really interested to see how the Bridon bands hold up to regular daily use. They look comfy, but at the same time, I wonder how resistant they are to dirt and pilling.

The Bridon looks interesting and the other two types are a bit bland.

A few pages back I did suggest that if leather bands are discontinued, Hermes may release a rubber band as their actual Swiss watch H08 uses a rubber band.
I ordered it too!!!!! Can’t wait. Love the new direction. Time for a change!!

Battery life is of course closely related to personal use cases. If you absolutely need more, there is always the Ultra. Thing is, Apple decided that 18h is enough for the regular Series and they will stick to this indefinitely. If a new chip is more efficient, they will spend this energy budget elsewhere (as they do with the S9).

Yep new faces there on Hermes. New Hermes and new Nike.

Nike Globe looks retro-futuristic in the best possible way. Soo good. The new Hermès one is nice enough but I still prefer the original Hermès face.

I think someone asked them when the jumping single tour first came out, but they said no due to the risk of the thread fibers fraying. I imagine the fluoroelastomer Kilim is a hard no.
That’s the only thing that makes he hesitate on these rubber and textile bands…

I always need an additional hole punched at the Hermès store as the standard holes are too big for my wrist.

Glad to see Hermes lives on. Though the lack of leather bands is odd. I can’t see paying the Hermes tax for a rubber band. It will be interesting to see if leather is still available from the Hermes site when it comes back up.

I’m also a bit underwhelmed by the new Hermes face. Kind of round but without corner complications. And the large Apple circular complication doesn’t really fit with the elegance of the Hermes dial. I adore the date complication though.

The new Hermes Radial face isn’t limited to today’s color releases but the legacy color options are weirdly limited. Will post screengrabs once my phone updates. And yeah @MacDevil7334 you’re right It’s actually kinda bleh in situ. No color bleed, no colored numerals. Phoned in!

Edit: ok its a little better when you add the date complication for color pop.
