I just upgraded from my Hermès Watch 6 to the Hermès Watch 9. TBH, can't tell much of a difference other than the slightly smaller bezels and new OS, but glad I made the upgrade, if nothing else, because of the new Noir Kilim Deployment Buckle. It looks fantastic and feels solid with that extra weight from the deployment clasp. I have it paired with a new Hermès Goliath Bracelet in Noir and I think they pair good together.

For all you Hermès watch owners, did any of your consider a switch to the Ultra? The extra battery life and a few additional features were compelling but the Ultra is just too bulky for me. I just ordered the iPhone 15 Pro in natural Titanium which would have matched the Ultra nicely, but I don't think my Hermès bands would have been a good fit with the titanium casing.

I just can’t give up my Hermes faces. The and Hermes bands on the ultra aren’t for me. I’m happy with my Hermes Series 9 and the battery life is fine for me.

Congrats on your watch. Love love the band!! That and the navy are next on my order list when they are back in stock on Apple even though I may pull the trigger and order the Navy from Hermes. I have the Khaki coming in the middle of October from Apple. I love the versatility of the rubber band and can wear this daily around my house without fear of ruining it. So I want all the Kilim bands. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I switched to the Ultra last year and went Ultra 2 this year. I thought I'd miss the Hermes faces, but I don't miss them at all. I love the Ultra Modular face and all the complications I'm allowed to have.

For me, the Series design is very stale (I've owned 0-8) and even more importantly the battery doesn't get me through a day. I couldn't pull the trigger on the Series 9 and returned the Series 8 Hermes last year. The only thing I miss a little is the Kilim band, but I would never use mis-matched lugs so...

Great pics, hope you enjoy the watch!

Apple Watch shape doesn't need to change for the sake of change.

The iPhone has maintained the same rectangular shape since the original. Apple doesn't need to release a cubed version of the iPhone just to change it up. You could largely argue that Apple has used the same iPhone design since the iPhone 4. (Metal frame with glass on both sides).

Plus, any major change would likely invalidate all previous bands.

I do agree about the battery life. The battery life needs to be 24 hours and not 18 hours.

We do miss you here though :)

Did you find out what happened to your band?
I have a new update. Basically, it's a "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" sort of thing.

Yesterday morning my order status still said my order will be ready to pick up shortly, despite it being over 72 hours. Tried calling the store again, no luck. Phone people said everything looks fine. Decided to make the 90 minute drive up to Irvine to actually speak with someone. I explained the situation to the check-in associate who immediately got a manager to speak with me. He looked over the order, confirmed they don't have that band in stock, and he wasn't sure what happened. He went to the back to check some things from the store's end.

Soon he came back and said they received the order Friday morning when it came in, however they never actually had the band in stock so they sent notice in the system back to the web order team that it wasn't available there. The web order system or team or whatever is supposed to then update the order alert the customer, etc. and that is where the disconnect is happening, I haven't been told anything nor has my order been updated to reflect that. What's even more odd is that the phone associate I spoke with the other day said everything looks fine with the order on their system and the store just has to pull the item and set it aside. The manager wasn't even sure how I was able to select that band for in-store pickup Friday morning if they never even had it to begin with.

He also said that starting with this Series 9 launch, this location was just added as the second location in Orange County to carry Apple Hermes products in store, the other being South Coast Plaza, so if that played any part of this hiccup happening, who knows.

So, no band, no dice. But hey, at least it was beautifully sunny on the drive back home, I had lunch in Dana Point and took some photos with my new 15 Pro Max.

My only recourse at this point is to call the EPP sales team and tell them what the store manager said, and see what can be done. I'll likely just ask for a refund and then keep checking the system for if and when an orange Kilim band shows up.

That’s really good to know about the Hermes thing. I‘m not forced to go to that basement at SCP! It’s their most lucrative store in the whole US (or at least was) and is a madhouse unto itself.

I should update that my SSS45 is now fine, i turned it back on again last night and it was no longer stuck on the “45mm stainless steel” screen so no store trip for me. I’ll have to demo the new bands by yoinking them. Cmonnn gold/ecru

This is my opinion of course, but when I say the design is stale it’s only partially due to looks. It’s primarily the lack of battery life (18 hours is not enough especially when you workout with GPS for >45mins), and lack of interesting case materials. I loved the Ceramic edition and owned the S2, S3, and S5 Ceramic watch.

For Hermes, I’ve never liked that it’s an artificial face on the same base SS watch. The Hermes watch should be special with a different case material although that will never happen (but it should.).

SBSS has been Hermes exclusive for a few years now :)

For me it’s battery life. I love my S7 Hermes, but since I got an AWU1 it only gets a look in every 2-3 days. It is so much easier to put on the Ultra and forget for 2 days about charging, even with workouts and podcast streaming. My S7 is on 85% battery and I get about 14-16 hours on it now tops.

‘All Day’ maybe, but seeing as I workout at 6:30am every morning, by 8pm it needs a charge.

However, when I wear the Hermes with a Hermes strap it feels so good. When I wear the Ultra, it’s just a bit of tech on my wrist if that makes sense.

Really stretching it how much % can you get back whilst showering?

On a typical day, I’ll do 30-45 mins of gym workout and 30 mins run (3-4) miles.

On my Ultra 2 I’ll be down to 90%. On the S7/8 I would be around 50-55%. I can get back to about 75% with a charge while getting ready in the morning, but its a hassle having to manage it every single day. I don’t sleep with the watch either, but if I did another massive negative for the Series models.

In fairness, a shower and shave and get dressed, I can get about an extra 30-35% on a fast charge on a good day.

Edit: watchOS10 though does cause huge drain for some reason when I first put it on - about 10% an hour for the first 1-2 hours then settles to 4-6%
.30*18hrs = 5.4hrs. Lets round down to 4hrs. For folks who bathe, I think Apple has nailed 24hr battery life

However, once you get used to the Ultra battery life, the S7 feels like I am always checking it.

FWIW I think apple will keep the series watches the same shape and size and battery improvements with efficiencies will give us true 24-36 hour life. Though the Ultra series will probably be 72 hours by then.

Ehh, that’s been done on the base SS model before (and it’s only a coating) so that doesn’t count for me 😂
I mean most of the hardware on Hermes products is stainless steel. So it’s keeping in line with their product design.

And Apple has explored a lot of the materials already used in tradition watch making (gold, aluminum, stainless steel, coated stainless steel, ceramic, titanium). With the exception of carbon fiber(too tacky for a Hermes product), not sure what else that leaves.

So what unique material that Apple has never used before would you suggest?

Again, change for the sake of change is not necessary.

Maybe Apple making the red cellular ring on the crown orange for Hermes would make you happy.

I was delighted to find out via a random photo of the box for the old single cuff that they even got their beloved palladium from the handbags onto that band!
