Pardon if this topic has already been discussed, but is anyone putting odds on what the new series 10 watch will be with regards to the lugs? I read that Apple sees the current design as not efficient in the sense that the space for putting the lugs into the watch could be better utilized for internal components and a stronger magnet type (which is more flush with the watch body) would be employed instead.

If that's the case then I'd imagine we could all buy new lugs and replace them (as I'm guessing Apple would want to placate previous buyers by at least offering to sell the new lugs as standalone), and I'm also assuming the horizontal sizing won't change (or won't change drastically), but what I am concerned about is that if they are using the lug space for the new watch design that any new lug type will have to have some sort of magnet that will still have have a depth of it's own (in addition to the space used by the new watch design) -- and therefore there's a good chance the length will be longer for this new design and we'll all be using different holes (or in my case creating new holes since I'm already on the last one🥴).

Lots of assumptions I know, but perhaps some of you have more insight into what might happen next fall. I hope I'm explaining all this correctly.
I think if/when Apple changes the lug connection mechanism, they probably will make it a clean break and not offer replacement lugs. There are a few reasons for this. First, Apple only sells one type of band with replaceable lugs (the modern buckle), so there is not much incentive for them to make user-replaceable lugs. Hermes represents a tiny amount of additional bands relative to the ones Apple sells. Second, when you swap or replace lugs, it is important to put some locktite on the screws that hold the lugs together (Apple actually does this at the factory). If the user fails to do this or does not do it well, the lug will likely come apart, creating a risk that the watch could fall off the user's wrist.

There just isn't much incentive for Apple to offer replacement lugs, and there is some risk to them by doing so.

IMG_2023-11-06-095857.jpeg When I first saw this band I thought the color combo was so strange. Then this morning I was getting dressed and was like I guess I’ll just wear my navy killim to go with my denim jacket and had a eurka as I put my sneakers on. 😆

Perhaps the gods do mingle from time to time 😉

Most "mens" bracelets are available in T3 to T6 sizing, which covers 155mm to 195mm, so if you fit a 45mm Hermès watch band one of the sizes should work for you.
Ohh righty!
Thanks for the info and that’s great to hear :)

On colder days I’m able to use the 2nd last hole and on warmer days it has to be the last hole on the band.
But yeah I’m able to wear the 45mm with the Hermes bands thankfully now….

Iam wearing the Hermes bands on the middle (4th hole) and the Hermes Goliath band in T6 (the largest size). I tried the T5 for a week but it was to narrow.

Iam afraid when wearing it the 2nd last hole the T6 might be too narrow :/

Well your logic on this is certainly sound, but for all our sakes I hope you're dead wrong!

Perhaps it's wishful thinking but I wonder if the new lug design might not need to locktite the screws? I have a feeling you're right, this just isn't a big enough market for Apple to fuss with -- but it does beg the question that any new redesign that doesn't involve the same shape for the male portion of the lug connector would render all older Apple bands obsolete, right? Perhaps that fact will dissuade them from angering the whole band community and they will stick with the older design even though it gobbles up precious real estate.

A quick search of this thread and you’ll find lots of good thinking and writing on this topic

Thanks Thousand, and apologies that I'm rehashing old topics. I'll do a search to see what was said earlier about the series 10 lugs issue.
It’s a real concern and a valid question even if it had already been discussed, to see if there’s any new thinking on it.

Actually the reason I bought Series 9 even though I already have Series 8, is just so that I can use my bands for as long as I can in the worst case scenario that my old bands cannot be used anymore.

Fair. Just the original spuriousness of the rumor multiplied by how many times it’s been broached to the power of no one on here ever uses search…

Magnetic watch bands just to eke out a little more battery space? Lord what utter bunk

Update on the Kilim.

Anyone on the fence still? IMO, just do it!

I was very skeptical at first, but am a convert. Even the day I got it I was skeptical (though in fairness a bit grumpy as I had overseen a production deployment over night and had had no sleep), now it is my goto band. I actually can't wait to take off my Ultra after my morning workout, just to put on the Hermes with the Kilim.

It may be rubber, it may be £300/$350, but boy is it comfortable and elegant IMO.

I want another colour now though.....

I'm still on the fence, in part because Au is out of the Orange. Which is the classic Hermes colour of course. And pairs nicely with the Ultra.

That said, I’ve nearly talking myself around to the Noir. More versatile! Classic in its own way! Goes with everything!

I know it sounds stupidly obvious, but my hesitation about the Kilim is the price. In Australia it’s $549, which is a lot of money obviously. Ultra bands & braided solos are $149, so I could buy some combination of three of those, plus a regular/Nike sport band or loop, and still have $30 left over. Of course it’s better quality than any of those bands, but will I wear it as much as three $149 bands + a $69 band combined?

I know it’s not all about money and mathematics, but… it is a bit?

For me, part of the fascination is the allure of the brand. I don’t have deep enough pockets to justify buying every Hermès band under the sun, but it does feel good that I am in a position to be able to afford it, and also that I want to be able to treat myself this way.

That said, I don’t wear my double tour Bridon everyday. I tried wearing it out once on a casual night out with friends and it felt weird, like I needed to be dressier than I was. I think I will be reserving it for business casual type of occasions.
