Trying to get the deal a touch under 800 haha...yoink specialists you know lol
I say always go super low on Hermes. Percentage doesn’t mean much. Like if it’s a band, a few hundred bucks is a few hundred bucks no matter what the list price is.

Often you’ll get a non-tech seller that treats Hermes like any other couture item in their posh closet, namely not worth half the msrp

The „Mother Earth” pathetic apple theme, saving the earth nonsense. Had to go across town to The Grove to get the idiotic $370.- Hermes strap for a Xmas gift. Apple would not send it to an Apple Store in Pasadena, nor any other Apple Store. I don’t live in the Hermes - approved part of LA apparently.

This is a nerdy post on my part, but my mini experiment confirmed what I had long suspected before I was able to get my own Hermès S9 this year. I had always thought the orange numerals looked to be of a different hue when on different backgrounds, but I thought it was just my eyes perceiving them differently due to contrast. I screen shot both of these faces directly on my watch, then opened them side by side in my Mac's Photo app. When I used Apple's built-in color meter, they are very different shades, which you can easily tell from the pics themselves. The Carrick numerals on the Craie/Indigo background register as RGB: 255, 118, 0. When displayed against pure black, the RGB is: 240, 112, 58. On pure black, the numerals have a pinkish hue, almost like a lighter version of the Hermès Capucine color.

I'm sure no one besides me finds this even remotely interesting, but I'm curious as to why Apple & Hermès would vary the signature orange color depending on the background? Regardless, I'm still in love with my new watch!...

It could be all about the perception based on the background. It's similar to the idea of arrangement of logos and such on a layout... arrange according to how it looks to the eye, not to a pixel-perfect layout.

I was noticing yesterday how gold on the noir/blanc face was more orange than the gold option

This actually is quite interesting!

Here are the two oranges side by side, pulled straight from your screenshots.

Isn't it odd? I've noticed that if I slide/switch screens slowly on the watch face, I can detect the color difference between oranges if I hold in between face slides.

I'd love to know if the Hermès face designers deliberately varied the orange hue, depending on which background would be used, or if this is something Apple did on their own? The only thing I can imagine is that maybe they felt the "true" bright orange was too stark against a pure black background and they wanted to soften the contrast. Who knows?...

When viewed outside or strong natural light, the pinky-orange still appears to match the orange band pretty well, but by lamplight or dimmer light, it definitely reads as more coral or off-orange to my eyes. I'm sure the members of this thread are rolling their eyes at me at this point, lol, but the Hermès orange color is one of the strongest design codes for the watch, so I find these variations fascinating.

Of course they adjusted the hue for the corresponding background. That’s what designers do 😉
I get it and I have to agree. A softer hue does look better against a pure black background. The true Hermès orange appears overly bright and harsh, compared to the toned down pinkish hue. Although I don't have any professional training in graphic design, it's always fascinated me.

Me: I can’t see any difference LOL

Guess I won’t quit my day job to become a graphic artist.

I think the normal orange wouldn‘t contrast/pop enough on the bright craie pie slice

The extremely high ebay prices for Kilim led me to look up retail stock and 45mm is all sold out except for Kaki and Orange (Orange sold out at apple, though). Not surprising, they’re understandably popular.

I think they’ll restock, right? More than ever these bands and colors seem like the replacements for the long-running Feu/Orange, Ebene, Fauve/Gold, Noir leather options they sold for many years.

The 41 is just on this side of usable but 45 all day. Chargerstore does sell an m/l hermes orange 41 but I think you’re best just sticking to the 45 life unless you’re dying for the exclusive bright colors they do the 41 bands in

I just wanted to chime in that that strap is very likely a fake. The shop also lists the corresponding pin strap as a "100% Original Apple sport band prototype" which is missing the Hermès logo which should be on every genuine Hermès silicone band stainless steel pin... (and the pin isn't shiny either)

I appreciate your vigilance but it’s misplaced. This seller is used by many on here and we have a personal relationship with him.

The pin discrepancy you’re seeing is because he offers a wide range of custom pin options/remixes. He’s that entrenched in the supply chain…

Hence why he can materialize our beloved Hermes orange goo cast from a non-retail mold size. I even have an orange Hermes band with the noir pin. It’s shiny and engraved, I promise.

I have noticed the same in recent weeks and it’s wild to see.

I’d love to know the conversations going on right now with Apple/Hermès regarding the Kilim line. For the very public way Apple transitioned away from leather, I’m wondering if they (or Hermès) ever anticipated the Kilim being this popular. Do they cash in and pump more out?

Part of me guesses (emphasis on my uneducated, not-in-the-know thinking) they did five colors initially to see how successful they were going to be, and I would imagine we’ll see more colors in the Kilim line down the road.

By the way, almost three months in with my Kilim Noir and still loving it. I’ve been wearing it almost every day since I got it, just gave it a gentle scrub bath last week, and still looks brand new. It’s the ultimate versatile daily go-to.
