Just ordered the Fauve Barenia Deployment and Rallye bands from Hermès to go with my Ebene Deployment.

Pretty much the obverse (contrapositive? reverse?) of what I ended up doing: settled on the 44mm series 4 with Fauve Barenia, just picked up the Ebene Barenia deployment to add to the roster. :)

Is the “collector virus” delivered via some coating on the Hermes bands?!:p

Found a white/rouge rallye on ebay today—big find! but also couldn't resist this crazy cheapie knockoff with screwdriver to switch 38 & 42 lugs for the same band-$10.

The rallye strap looks so cool. Until I put it on my fat hairy wrist and it looks like inverse crop circles.

I’m the reverse cos my wrists are too small and I have to use the big holes which are not meant to be used. I tried the indigo rouge last year and had to sadly return it.

Clown strap already sold out on Hermes website. Glad I got my order in earlier today!!!!

yes, and therefor surprised the supply/demand imbalance hasn’t resulted in quicker sales of some same-as-Apple/Hermes price items on the auction sites.

eBay prices are just stupid for these. Markup is sometimes $1000 over original price. I have actually seen some of the items have price drops.

Granted some gouging BUT several are priced at Apple & below. These have not sold despite the constant sell-out at Apple.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Hermès! I saw on eBay a while back, a Well used Constance Belt that I paid a bit over $3k for new, being sold for over $8500, because it was a rarer offered reversible leather strap in specific leathers and colors on each side. I “watched” the auction because I was curious, and low and behold, someone bought it at that obscene markup!

Sometimes you can find some great deals. I prefer to buy new, and therefore haven’t bought secondhand, but occasionally you will see a size 50 Birkin Bag secondhand. For men, like me, that size is actually pretty good if you’re interested in that bag.

You could always use clippers to trim/shorten the hairs heading towards your wrist where the watch band rests ;) You know, manscape, do what ya gotta do to look fashionable. I’ve had friends do crazier things than what I just suggested.

Not Complaining but why won’t Hermès take returns? I forget their exact policy … you can’t get your money back, but you can exchange it or get store credit??

I don’t like buying something brand-new and then finding out it was an item that was previously returned. I can tell because from the re-packaging and because it was slightly used. Stores are supposed to inspect these returned items for usage, but they’re not very careful. I suppose Hermès policy prevents this to a large degree since you wouldn’t buy something unless you were very sure you wanted to keep it as you can’t get your money back.

In the end, one really has to look at this watch as a tech investment, and not a luxury watch investment. I’ve never gone into an Hermès watch purchase looking at it to retain its value. I go into it asking if I will get my value out of it in the time I retain ownership. These watches are not like my collection of Hermès Constance Belts, or H Belts, or bags, or, well, you get the idea, where those can go up in value over time, as many of them are hard to obtain. The Constance Belt is described as one of the most difficult belts in the world to find, and then trying to find it in certain leathers just makes it even rarer. The same cannot be said for the Hermès Apple Watch, where many thousands of them are mass produced. The special Hermès watch bands, such as the more limited edition Rallye Indigo/Rouge retain their value more, due to their rarity. This is not to discount the more widely available Hermès Apple Watch varieties. Each of those still contains hand cut, hand stitched, high quality bands, but they do not possess the special rarity most Hermès products have inherent. For example, additional straps for the Constance Belt are hand made, and the multiple varieties of colors, leathers, and sizes are produced at random, and for only a limited time. So, if one wants a certain color, in a certain leather, in a certain size, it’s like hitting the lottery should one locate that combination. The same is not for the Apple Watch. There are set leathers, colors, sizes for each season, and they are significantly easier to locate.

The point of my post is to highlight that one should buy the Hermès watch because one believes they will get their value out of it in their time of ownership, not because they believe it will sell for a certain price when they wish to divest themselves of it.

That said, I have typically, each year, been able to sell my Hermès Apple Watch for around $500. I’m ok with that, because I feel I have gotten enough enjoyment out of the product to feel my purchase of the depreciation was worth it. I hope this helps others trying to justify purchasing one of these watches. They are definitely worth the money, and they are special to own. I have never regretted the purchase of a single one, and I have owned every series.
That’s great news. You have been able to sell just Hermès AW (no straps) for $500. On eBay?

If you buy in the store, I believe their policy is still you can only exchange for another item, or get store credit. I don't know for sure, because I've never actually had to return/exchange an item at Hermès. If you purchase online, via Hermès.com, you have a 30 day refund/return policy. So, if you want to be able to return for refund, only buy online. I believe they have the store return policy as it is, because they take such care to make sure you're getting exactly what you want, so as to assure no mistakes are made. They measure you, to make sure the items are going to fit you proper, and they go through all the color/leather options available to you at the time, and they go over the qualities of each. Buying in an Hemès store can be a many hours process. They even go so far as to have the associates wear white gloves when touching the items, so they are not touched by anyone but the customer.

Once you've shopped in a particular store, you get entered into their system, and you basically get your own personal assistant. I have a business card from mine, and when I'm looking for an item, I give her a call, or email, requesting the item, and she hunts it down for me, calls me with the details, takes payment over the phone, and ships it to me from whatever store in the country she found it in. Living on Cape Cod, I don't get to Boston as often as I"d like to. I make quarterly weeklong shopping trips there, staying at the Ritz Boston Common, which makes Hermès conveniently two blocks away, but during the in-between times, I call or email my rep often. Hermès is very good about sizing, so if you buy a size 90 belt once, every subsequent belt will be a true size 90. So one can feel confident in ordering away from a physical store, if they have enough items to compare sizes to.

As for you stating you received returned items, that's never happened to me, but if it did, I'd return it for exchange, explicitly stating I wanted a new item, not a returned item sent to me. Again, your personal sales associate could handle that for you.

T’was meant more as a joke, than anything. But, like I said, I’ve known people to do crazier things, all in the name of “fashion.”

I have smaller-sized wrists but am committed to the 44mm size since the straps I bought with my original Series 0 Apple watch would otherwise not be compatible going into the future. Other Apple bands I own (link bracelet, sports bands) all fit. I tried on the Apple Watch Hermes at the Stanford Hermes store and it was slightly loose; the Sales Associate was unsure if they offer the service of punching additional holes, made a note to check, and then never got back to me after I e-mailed her. Have others made use of this service or is it a store-by-store thing? I was thinking of purchasing the 44mm Fauve Barenia S4 with deployment buckle.

Have punched additional holes for all 4 Hermès bands I have in the Sydney Hermès store in Australia.

No questions asked. In and out in 5 mins.
