I have smaller-sized wrists but am committed to the 44mm size since the straps I bought with my original Series 0 Apple watch would otherwise not be compatible going into the future. Other Apple bands I own (link bracelet, sports bands) all fit. I tried on the Apple Watch Hermes at the Stanford Hermes store and it was slightly loose; the Sales Associate was unsure if they offer the service of punching additional holes, made a note to check, and then never got back to me after I e-mailed her. Have others made use of this service or is it a store-by-store thing? I was thinking of purchasing the 44mm Fauve Barenia S4 with deployment buckle.
Go with the 40mm. The Fauve Barenia is in stock online and many stores have other bands in stock.

If I didn't already have a small collection of bands, I certainly would have gone with the 40mm without question.

Why 40mm? Do you feel it fits/looks better on your wrist?

The 42mm was clearly the right watch for me. I have had a 44mm S4 for a little under two weeks and have wondered about the 40mm. I've tried my wife's 40mm S4, though, and it seems a little small. Doesn't really make sense on paper, since it's very close to the size of the S3 42mm, but in real life it feels a little small.

Received two fakes from eBay marked “Crested” on their bags. packaging includes bubble wrap on buckle. lugs fit perfectly S4. $20 ea.

in photos, Hermes is to right of her-faux.

I wouldn’t say the 40mm is close to the 42mm in physical size, really. What’s close is actually the size of the _display_ on those two. The 44mm is much closer in physical size to the 42mm.

Shows differences between them all:

Recent lurker, first time poster here. So glad I found this thread, because I have been trying to figure out whether to splurge on the Hermes edition of the Series 4. I currently have a Nike+ Series 2. From an aesthetic perspective, the Hermes wins hands down. But as I was about to pull the trigger, I read somewhere that the Aluminum watches were better than Stainless Steel for an active lifestyle. I have worn my Series 2 for all sorts but of activities (swimming, running, golf, HIIT, strength training, yoga, etc) and have been very happy with it (although I want the cellular functionality for running). But where I haven’t liked it as much is for wearing at the office.

I have two questions:

(1) does the Stainless Steel (with sport band) hold up well for a fair amount of physical activity, including swimming and strength training?

(2) how does the weight of the Stainless Steel feel overall, especially for physical activity? I have rather small wrists and hands (my hands are literally the size of a 7yo child). I’ve tried on a stainless steel version at the Apple store and definitely notice the weight difference, but maybe I’d get used to it or it wouldn’t bother me during exercise.

Thanks in advance for your perspective!

Fabulous graphic, thank you. I scanned the top row and was thinking that the difference would be even less noticeable if the watches were centered, and then looked at the bottom row. Well done.

No prob. All I had seen were people comparing with the same baseline, but in reality it’s unrealistic for comparison-sake...so I made the centred comparison which is much more how the 42 vs 44 feels to me...basically the same.

In my opinion the aluminum looks and feels cheap. The screen scratches almost immediately even if you are super careful.

The stainless is more durable, classier, and works with almost any band. The screen is almost impossible to scratch (it will if you are hard enough on it), but it’s difficult. The stainless watch will get surface scratches but those can be buffed out if you want to. I think the surface scratches look great personally...

I wouldn’t even consider the aluminum watch but that’s just me.

I have had 2 Hermes stainless series 3 and now Series 4 and never had an issue with them. You can buy these polishing cloths for stainless on amazon made by Cape Cod. They work great and remove 99% of the surface scratches. I use them on my $11k Rolex and never had an issue. I used them on my series 3 Hermes and they worked great.

I personally don’t like the look of aluminum, just reminds me of a soda can. So. I stick to stainless versions.

Have punched additional holes for all 4 Hermès bands I have in the Sydney Hermès store in Australia.

No questions asked. In and out in 5 mins.

They do this for the Constance and H Belt straps, too. It’s a really nice customer service feature they offer. Reassurance that cutting into expensive leather is done by a professional, and if they damage it, they replace it.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I hope the policy is similar in the US.

They do offer this feature. They offer it for the belt straps, as well. Very nice customer service feature. If they damage the product in doing this, they replace it, or send it to the home base in France for repair for free for you.

Thank you to everyone for your input on my questions! This is my first Apple Watch and Hermès purchase and I’m very excited about it!

I decided to pull the trigger on the Fauve Barenia single tour. Fortunately there is an “anchor” Apple Store in my region so I was able to place an order online and pick it up this weekend. The staff at the store was very helpful and made the pick-up process very quick.

The quality of the leather is top notch and it looks fantastic with the stainless watch! Since it’s raining in my part of the country for the next couple days I picked up a Midnight Blue sport band. I think it looks great and I felt a little more comfortable wearing the dark blue instead of Hermès orange in my office...I don’t like too many eyes on me haha.

Thanks again!

Looks great! Considering getting the midnight blue strap for work as well. I already have grey so don’t really need it. But it looks real nice and classy!

So i got the Hermes Series 4 in 44mm size and have realized that the sport band is to big for my wrists. Is there anyway of purchasing the Hermes Orange S/M section from somewhere. This really blows that on such a premium purchase both sizes are not included.

Maybe someone is willing to trade their S/M strap for my M/L strap if the S/M is a little small for them.

How is the quality of the faux Hermes bands , is the leather of decent quality and does the buckle sit flat when wearing the watch.

Unfortunately the S/M only comes with the 40mm, and 40mm bands have a different width for the part that connects to the watch than the 44mm uses.

Yeah I have to use the band on the last hole. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with both sizes like a regular sport band

You are so right, I didn't think of that.

So have no option but to try and punch some extra holes onto the M/L Band.Thank you for pointing that out to me.

I don’t think punching extra holes will do it. The band can only loop around your wrist to a certain point. Otherwise you’ll be blocking the sensors

Caveat: This is my first foray into quality leather bands, so I’ll be conservative and admittedly subjective in my assessment of these Her-faux bands.

Compared to my for-real Hermes single tour, the fake is a bit thicker and stiffer, the watch sits a bit higher on my top wrist, and buckle sits a bit higher on underside band; on fake, you could slide a playing card between the buckle and band.

The Hermes feels much more relaxed, better on the wrist when switching back and forth, but any real difference is not noticeable to me when wearing for a full day.

One objective note: The Hermes creased/scratched against its buckle, showing slightly when removed. The faux does not altho the band retains a slight curve reminiscent of its fit on the wrist.

Unfortunately, this USA seller does not accept returns.

I’m happy enuf with it when I’m wanting prettier than a sport but not sure what my day will bring.

Thanks, I ordered the blue/white.its not pricey at all so a good add on to existing genuine straps.

This is something that's always bothered me about the Hermes set up. All that money for a premium product and no way to get the band that fits you best. I use the M/L that came with my S4 on the last hole (i.e. smallest size) and it's "ok" but I'd prefer the S/M length.

Same. Makes me not use the orange Hermès strap as much as I’d like. Maybe I’ll start doing a two tone or something so I can use a S/M sport band
