I just switched back to light mode after 2 days, man what a relief..

I know a lot of you won't agree with me, but that's my opinion and my eyes, can't do nothing :D

I like Dark Mode and have it set from Sunset to Sunrise. I wish there was a way to decrease screen brightness for that same time period. Just making sure there is not right, except for manually doing it myself?

I tried out the dark mode for about 10-15 minutes and went back to light mode. Light mode, together with the true tone, night shift and white point reduction (35%) works the best for me.

I am not a fan of dark mode personally. I don’t like the all black look, although I know it’s probably great on the OLED screens. I wish they had a light, dark, and black mode. A grey theme like macrumors is using would be great.

Love it, and have it active at all times.
Genuinely wish dark mode was an option for a lot longer.

Only downside are apps and websites which don’t offer dark mode yet.

Really enjoying it, but some places are not dark yet. Twitch widgit for example.

I assume now Apple have added this, lots of third party apps will too.

I preferred smart invert colours mode over this dark mode. But since iOS 13, Smart invert is broken so I have no choice to deal with this. The Apple apps are great but too many third party apps simply ignore the feature so not only their apps are still white but their widgets are also bright so its just ugly.

Also articles in news app are all in white so its unreadable with the dark interface all around. There's also no option to turn website dark in safari so I have to use third party browser to have a more system wide dark mode.

This is what happen when you let devs do what they want, a feeling of an unfinished dark mode with inconsistent siwtching between very light white and dark themes.

For those of you setting dark mode from sunset to sunrise, how does it change modes when you are using the phone? If you are looking at a dark mode app when sunrise hits, does it instantly blind you with whiteness at that moment? Does it fade in gradually? Does it just wait to change until you exit the app?

Dark mode has been underwhelming to say the least. The colours appear to be flat, not rich enough. I hope it’s something that the choose to work on in future updates.

I’m keeping it on dark mode all the time and I love it. In fact I swear I’m getting more battery life. Last night before I went to charge I had more battery than I’ve had before I started using dark mode. I’ve noticed this for a couple days now. I have a 6s.

It fades, technically. But it's not gradual 😂 It's like the minute sunrise comes (according to your weather app) BOOM, it changes.

I've literally been switching it on and off a few times a day depending on my mood. I tend to leave it on at night, and have a few apps like Telegram that don't support it configured with dark themes.

I like it, but in a bright environment the old light mode seems to be easier to read. It'd be cool if it could be automatic based on screen auto-brightness.

Don't know why Gmail starts in dark mode when you boot it up but then reverts to white. There is no settings for dark mode. Is it possible they are going to implement it soon? If you are in light mode, Gmail boots up in white. Force close the app and start it up while in dark mode, you will see what I am talking about.

I've noticed this too... I would assume an update is imminent. It already has a dark mode on Android.

Wanted to like it, glad we have a choice, but honestly it really hurts my eyes. The white text glows and gives me eye strain. not sure if its too much contrast or what. wish it was a soft gray text or maybe a gray background but i know that defeats the power saving on OLEDs.

Not enjoying 100% because Safari doesn't have it. At least I haven't found. Why not import the same dark mode from Firefox (also for iOS)? At least in that area of experimental features.

Probably because you haven't reduced brightness from your device (my suggestion is always less than 40%, at least for reading) and there's some lamp overheard in your bedroom. Try the tips mentioned in these 2 links:

Just curious, if you go to settings and then Gmail, is your location services setting for gmail stuck on Ask? I set mine to Never but as soon as I back out of the options, it reverts to Ask.

The way they chose to not force the themed keyboard as dark to ALL apps regardless of their current status on dark mode is stupid. It’s too jarring to have the keyboard just be themed here or there, sometimes black sometimes white.

That's what I said during the whole beta process and I ws criticized by many saying that devs must be free to decode and I didn't understand how it works. Well it turn out I was right. Most third party apps don't even care and completely ignore dark mode (like tune in radio who simply updated their app to make their widget dark, but they didnt change a single thing on the app itself) and seriously, even if I was pessimist, I expected more apps to support it but its a fraction of them.

Its the same problem with web pages. They could just add an experimental feature to turn on smart invert in safari to have a more pleasant dark mode experience.

On my XR the home screen looks cool, but mostly everything else looks God awful.... they’ve done a really poor implementation of it on LCD screens, then again 13.1 is buggy anyway, it can’t keep any app in memory for 2 minutes!!!!

You're right, but I don't see what it would matter since screen brightness should auto-adjust to the surroundings anyway.

By the way, there's a workaround via Accessibility to get screen brightness to an even lower point, that kind of adds a darkening filter to the screen. This is manually activated, but with a shortcut (not sure how that's implemented beyond home-button iPhones).
