11” iPad Pro here. I’ve fallen off a horse. Gotten hit by a car. Fell down a flight of stairs & jumped out of a plane. And No bends yet. Of course I did all those things while NOT carrying my iPad Pro. But still...no bends.

And the award for the most useless comment of the year... Goes to YOU!

Well I thought I was not going to have to worry about my new 11" but I just picked it up from one end the the other end just flopped down and bent in half. It feels like a paper back book and is now flexible.

What did I do wrong?

Did you leave out the <sarcasm/> markup?

They're fine. Just don't try and forcibly bend it and you'll be good. I was surprised by just how solid my 12.9 feels after reading all these posts.

Cmon people. I’ve had 3.. if I bought a 4th one I wouldn’t even check to see if it is straight, I know there straight.

People are bending these on accident! It is only 5.9mils thick,

I check my 2018 12.9" all the time and it hasn't bent yet. It does have the touchscreen bug that makes it practically useless for gaming.

Use the poll for reference - https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2018-ipad-pro-bend-poll.2162709 - this thread isn't very useful because there's no quantitative breakdown of the data.

Yes but, anyone with a iPad Pro 11” or 12.9” is starring down the edge to see if it is perfectly straight, and they may notice the slightest bend. Even though the device lays flat, looks flat, and appears straight. They say it is bent and check a box in the poll.

But really it is not bent at all.

People are bending these devices themselves, and calling it bent from the factory.

This entire thread is unrealistic.

I tried to bend mine and it didn't bend easily. I'm not going to turn my thumb white pressing it hard like in the video.

It really is bent, and the poll reflects the reality - it affects the cellular versions the most, and Apple itself has posted an advisory - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209403

Apple said:
To provide optimal cellular performance, small vertical bands or “splits” in the sides of the iPad allow parts of the enclosure to function as cellular antennas. For the first time ever on an iPad, these bands are manufactured using a process called co-molding.

....

This flatness specification allows for no more than 400 microns of deviation across the length of any side — less than the thickness of four sheets of paper. The new straight edges and the presence of the antenna splits may make subtle deviations in flatness more visible only from certain viewing angles that are imperceptible during normal use.

I personally don't care to check my own, or care if it really is slightly bent - it does not affect my use of it (Apple literally mentions as such).

However, we can't simply dismiss the problem as non-existent when sufficient evidence exists. We must acknowledge the truth and deal with it as such (or not care so much, but that is up to the individual)

I use mine on a flat surface to ensure no bends occur. Countertops and the bar are my favorites. But the dining room table and desk also suffice nicely.

This topic I think can be put to bed. Truly, what's the deal when devices get this slim and are made of aluminum. Even stainless on an iPhone this size (which even sounds silly) would bend. Where's my next dead horse to go beat?.... LOL

The vast majority are not bent. It's a silly non issue, overblown by apple haters and click bait purveyors.

First day pre-order 11" wifi. It's in a regular folio case, and a zipper case. Survived being in the front of my bag going to Spain and multiple road trips. No bends.

Just like how the keyboard and screen on my 2016 MBP are supposed to have problems. Nothing wrong there either.

My 12.9” iPad Pro is slightly uneven at the LTE antenna line. I checked using a steel scale. The bend is smaller than Apple’s 400 micron tolerance so it is within their stated specifications.

Wouldn’t have been able to verify without a steel scale. It’s definitely much less of a bend than other pictures in this thread, which seem to be bent around the microphone port.

My 12.9 knock on wood is great. But I baby it and rarely take it out of the house in my backpack. I don’t have a case.

I have my 12.9" 1TB Wi-Fi cellular for about a week, its in it smart folio case, no bending yet, take note I held my old iPad Air 2 in my hands and it flexed really easily I was quite surprised, but I don't go around bending my hardware normally. I have a soft shoulder case for my iPad went I take it out for extra protection, same as my old iPad Air 2. TBH I think the issue is overblown, it seems in recent years bending things for views on YouTube has given people bad habits, although I am sure some are bent. I guess it can happen, but nothing like the mass issues people made out on here, or on YouTube.

Edit* Upon closer inspection I may have a slight bend on the short sides of my iPad Pro 12.9 looking super close at the antenna bands but its hard to tell it, it may have a miniscule one but nothing concerning.

My ipad Air 2 though is obviously bent I looked at the top of it (plastic part for cellular) and its like a banana the rest is straight so that part was a weakness on that iPad maybe and that iPad lived in the protective leather case that apple made at that time. If nobody had mentioned those antenna bands and the slight kink I would not have noticed its that miniscule, and tbh they are hardly an issue. Length ways its perfect. (that sounds so wrong):D

So far, so good. I've laid the 12.9 on flat surfaces (with the camera bump off the side of the desk, countertop, etc), and there's no wobble when tapping around the surface at various points. I can't see a bend, either. I'm looking for a sturdy travel case because I do worry about the iPad travelling in a bag with just the Smart Keyboard Folio attached.
