I want to start this thread to see how many iPods the average person has or owns.

We'll for me I have 3 iPod touches
A nano and the other iPod with the camera built in. Then I have a old 32gb iPod and my silly iphone.

So I got in total 5 iPods lol I don't use any at all too.

Zilch.

And I don't own an iPad, iPhone, iMac or iAnything, never have, and probably never will.

I do own a 2005 Mac Mini that needs to be sent off for recycling, and a 2009 Mini that works, and that's that.

It's a pity you didn't set up a poll to go with this thread. It would have given clear picture of the information you are after.

I dare not get them all out at the same time for a pic in case the wife sees!

20GB 2nd Gen iPod
15GB 3rd Gen iPod (my favourite)
40GB 4th Gen iPod

Plus a 32GB iPhone 3GS that's mainly just used as an iPod touch around the house, my 64GB iPhone 5S and the two iPads...

Just added a green 7th gen Nano 16GB yesterday. Lovely little thing.

Two 2gb 2nd Gen Nanos
4gb 3rd Gen Nano

Photos are not mine.

1 silver ipod classic
1 blue chromatic nano
1 silver fatty nano
I have a "chromatic nano", used to have a "fatty" nano which had been given to my by my mom, and I bought a classic just three days ago. When I bought it in the apple store, the blue shirt was giving me funny looks...

But nevertheless, the classic is my favourite. It isn't super small, but it's small enough for me to lug around my whole musical identity with. It's silver, 160GB

The blue chromatic had led me through my harsh middle school years, and the silver fat nano had been my companion after my mother had accidentally put my blue nano in the wash.

The blue nano survived, to my absolute wonder and enjoyment, and now I use it while my classic is charging and while I excercise, to this day.

I find music.app in ios is too slow and unresponsive, especially on my 4, compared to the iPods. I love the click wheel, easier to physically change songs/volume also.

The silver "fatty" is currently in my cousins possession. I might have to ask for it back.....

I love ios devices, but there is definitely still a place for the click wheel. Touch screens can't be used without eye focus.

Hoping to keep these guys for a while. Got the classic brand new for the long term, and decided to get the 5.5G for the car, and swapped the 80GB HDD for a 64GB CF card along with swapping the front panel.

Working...
2 classic 5th Gen
2 nano's ,3rd and 5th gen

Might be working if I can find them :
1 gen 3 nano , 1 gen. 4 classic

Definitely broken.....
2- gen 6 and 1 gen 5 classics , got 'm in a bundle to give me something to tinker with over the winter , probably make 1 gen 6 out of the 2 , no idea whats up with the gen 5.

I've got it down to just one that I regularly use: my 7th gen nano, which I absolutely love.

I also own:

3rd gen nano, 4GB
4th gen nano, 4GB (this one no longer works, but the 4GB models were quite rare which is why I've still kept it. It simply needs a new battery so I may fix it some day)
4th gen touch, 8GB
5th gen touch, 32GB

None of these really get used nowadays, as my iPhone/nano combo does everything I need.

working:

Classic 7gen 160 GB - primary listening device

Video 5.5gen 80 GB - waiting to get modded to some insane capacity when I get to it some day

dead:

Nano 4gen 16 GB
Shuffle 1gen 1 GB

Working:
iPod Color - 20 GB
ipod 4G - 16GB SD in CF adapter
iPod Mini 1G (blue) - 5GB Microdrive
iPod Mini 2G (silver) - 32 GB CF
iPod Nano 6G - 8GB

Dead:
iPod 2G (broken drive connector)
iPod 5G (bad charging circuit)
iPod Mini 1g (blue) - needs new clickwheel

The Minis seem to be multiplying. :)

Well if we want to include past devices...

First iPod: 2nd generation iPod nano, 4GB in Red (stolen from bro's car)

Second iPod: 3rd generation iPod touch 32GB (Randomly died, Apple wouldn't warranty it due to "Water damage" that wasn't there. There was apparently a legal issue but I didn't know about it, so no cash for my dead $300 iPod that was less than a year old. I then vowed not to buy another iPod because of Apples BS.

Third iPod: iPod touch 4th gen 64GB (present, as I said I didn't want to buy one). 2010-2014 (sold)

Fourth iPod: iPod classic 160GB, purchased new a few months ago

Fifth iPod: iPod video 80GB from Gamestop. Works great, pretty scratched up though. Put the black front panel on since the white one got scratched up enough to affect usability of the screen.

And I'm planning on keeping these classic clickwheel iPods as long as possible. We'll see how it goes. Kids these days can't even find the "Power Button" or figure out how to navigate it. Lol!

iPod Mini Green - Dead drive - Thrown out
iPod Video 30gb - Dead drive - Thrown out
iPod Touch 1G - Obsolete - Thrown out
iPod Shuffle (the tiny one, no buttons) - In a drawer somewhere, lost the cable
iPod Classic 160gb (latest) - Dead drive - In a iPod sock, stashed away

Got the Classic at the same time i got my iPhone 4. Ended up using iPhones instead after that. but now, with the huge 6 Plus, i need an iPod again :)

Might replace the drive in the classic, unless Apple does something fun with the iPod line. If they do, I'll just replace it

I only own two iPod Classic, both are 7th Generation 160 Gb, but one is a Black/Graphite European (volume is limited because of EU regulations), and the other one is a Silver, American version. The sound is quite different!

I would love to find a 5,5G to be able to compare them!

Quite a few.

Ipod photo 60gb. Broken but hoping to get it going with a cf card
Ipods shuffles 1st and 2nd gen.
Ipod nano 1st gen
Latest ipod classic 160gb (7th gen?).

2nd Gen Nano x 2
3rd Gen Nano
6th Gen Nano (screen doesn't work due to water damage)
7th Gen Nano
4th gen iPod (faulty hard drive, thinking of converting to flash)
2nd gen Touch

interesting thread. at one time i owned six of the things but i've sold off four of them. let's just say that i have 1 1/2. the 1/2 only sometimes works but earlier today i was surfing e-bay looking for another so i guess it's just a matter of time. my favorite is the 60gb ipod photo since it's the last one that will work with firewire.
