What is the compatibility mode? Can you show the steps you follow for this?

1. Right-click on X:\Bootcamp5\setup.exe and select Properties. (Change "X" by your usb driver letter)
2. Select the Compatibility tab, then check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
3. Select the version of Windows to use in the dropdown box (I used Windows 8 or 7, I´m not sure right now).
4. Hit Apply, then run the app and see if this fixed your issues.

I toke those steps from this site.

Edit:
Additionally, I downloaded bootcamp as using macPro7,1 brigadier -m MacPro7,1. So I repeat the steps uninstalling previous bootcamp and installing this last version (actually, they may be the same, I never checked it)

Thanks very much!

EDIT: I got curious, and decided to checked the lower right hand corner, and lo and behold, there was bootcamp!
Sadly not for me!

After i tried each and everyting described here several times. Including uninstalling the 5,1 versions. At least everything i got to see of them. Even with the MS Install and Uninstall tool.

Finally installed only 6.1 from the brigadier iMacPro 1,1 Install (as the Apple Software Updater updating to 6.1.9 dos not install the App if it is not already there). Now i can see, that the App is installed, version 6.1.7866 (with edit and uninstall shaded in the app manager). But i did not ever get to see it in the right hand corner of the task bar!

Windows is 10, Enterprise Version, 1909. Any help highly appreciated.

One Word: I just don't like it!

Not only because it needs an UEFI-install of Win which at worst bricks the Mac if bootet accidently not using OC just once.

Must be a case of your mileage my vary. In my experience, its the most trouble free install of Windows I've ever had.

Don't get me wrong. I did not have any problems to install Windows in legacy bios mode. Worked perfectly fine. As well as i have all the stuff going now, including WIFI, wireless mouse and keyboard, sound, everythig. I even have a vidcard at hand showing the bootmanager, if i need id. So i don't need the OC capabilitys at all.

The only thing i am missing is the bootcamp control panel which i cannot get to run by any means. Not that it doesn't show any of my Mac disks. The panel itself does not show up. And i would very much like that incase i switch to a gpu without bootscreen someday.

I've not even tried using the BootCamp control panel. Might give it a shot later.

So, after i had to give up with no success yesterday, i will at least try to sum up the information (or my understanding of it) of this thread, concerning BootCamp installations for later versions of Windows 10 (i.e. 1909) on cMPs.

1. By now, even for a 4,1/5,1 it is completely unnecessary if not harmful to install versions of BootCamp earlier than 6.1. If drivers for particular hardware components (i.e. WIFI, bluetooth, sound output) are needed, they should be manually installed from the packages downloaded for the 5,1 via brigadier. Right?

2. BootCamp only needs to and should only be installed in version 6.1 from the brigadier download for the iMacPro 1,1 via command line with administrator privileges. After reboot the control panel to choose the boot volume should be available at the right side (up-arrow-symbol) of the taskbar. Right?

Sadly in my case it was and still is not. And up to now, i have not been able to change that. BootCamp service app is installed, but control panel not available. So one reason for 6.1 not installing properly could be residues of earlier installs, which could not be completely removed via uninstall.

That’s where i am stuck. :(

Hi!
I've successfully managed to install Windows 10 in legacy mode on Mac Pro 3,1 with Catalina. Transitioning from macOS -> Windows works perfectly fine. However, even though I can select Mac drive as a target drive in Windows and reboot, Mac keeps booting to Windows. Seems like it does not remember a target drive.

macOS and Windows are installed on different SSD's.

I'm looking for ideas how can I fix it?

I spent ages installing windows 10 - thankyou youtuber
Then I followed the excellent post about installing bootcamp 6.1. All went well and I could see the Mpjave SSD in BC Control panel. But it wouldn't boot to it, just back to Windows.
After going cross eyed reading these long threads, I happened to chance upon a suggestion by somebody about using the optical drive SATA connectors for the SSD. This was an outlier, but worth a try. I moved the Mojave SSD from the optical drive bay to a USB 3 PCI card I have which also has a SSD connector. And, good grief, it workd. Now I can boot back and fore with no trouble.
So if you can't get back to OSX from Windows, try moving your OSX drive to a SATA bay or other place. Wish I 'd known that before.

Unfortunately that was not my case. I've been using regular SATA bays. macOS bay #1, windows bay #4. Tried swapping macOS from #1 to #2, but still no luck.

Can someone help me on how to install the driver Windows 10 for Apple iSight camera to run on Mac Pro 3.1? Thanks in advance!

Just checked my Mac pro 3,1 EFI firmware, it is:

006C.B05.0802291410

Is it the latest one, or should I upgrade? If so, how can I perform EFI upgrade? Is it updated during Catalina install? If so, I'm already at catalina.

[Update 29 Feb 2020: Members reported that this procedure will install Boot Camp 6.1.9 now, which apparently only allow users boot to the latest macOS drive. For those who has multiple macOS drive. This method doesn't work anymore. Also, latest Windows 10 (1909) seems also not allow Bootcamp 5 package to be installed anymore. There is no prefect alternative solution yet. Possible solution is at here. Anyway, I've already switched to OpenCore with EFI Windows. So, I won't update this post anymore]

OK, done!

Thanks for providing all the required info. This is my version of "how to do it".

1) Insert the Windows installation DVD into the super drive (How to burn a Windows installation disc properly). [N.B. Do NOT replace the DVD by USB installer. It won't work]

2) Shutdown the Mac

3) Hold "C" to boot (if you have NVMe installed, and can't boot from the disc, please try remove the NVMe)

4) Follow the on screen instruction until reach the "Where do you want to install Windows" step
View attachment 797517

5) "Delete" all the target SSD's partitions. In the above capture (downloaded from internet), you can see that there are 4 partitions for existing EFI mode Windows. Select each partition one by one, and click Delete. Be careful, do NOT remove other drive's partition. All partitions should be on the same drive. e.g. In the above example, all belongs to Drive 0. There is no requirement to remove any other hard drive from the cMP. But if you want to play safe, you can physically remove them between step 2 and 3 to avoid error.

Eventually will looks like this. No more partitions, but just a single large piece of Unallocated Space.
View attachment 797518

6) Click New. This will automatically create the correct and required partitions with all available space. For legacy installation, should be only two partitions automatically created.
View attachment 797527

7) Select the newly created partition, and continue the installation.

8) For Windows 10, the LAN line should work straight away after installation completed. So now, you can use Edge to access the internet.

9) Go to https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier/releases

10) Download brigadier.exe (0.2.4)

10a) Download and install 7-zip

11) insert a USB drive (this is not mandatory, but just make the command prompt work easier)

12) Format the USB drive to FAT32

13) Copy brigadier.exe to the USB drive (assume it's the E drive)

14) Open Command Prompt (search CMD can find it)

15) type
Code:
e:

16) type
Code:
brigadier -m MacPro5,1

17) Once finished, rename the "Bootcampxxxxxxxxxx" folder to "Bootcamp5" (Note: if this folder is empty, please read this page)

18 ) type
Code:
brigadier -m iMacPro1,1

19) Once finished, rename the "Bootcampxxxxxxxxxx" folder to "Bootcamp61"

20) search CMD again, but this time right click, and choose "run as admin"

21) type
Code:
e:

22) type
Code:
cd Bootcamp5/Bootcamp/Drivers/Apple

23) type
Code:
msiexec /i bootcamp.msi

24) After installation finished and reboot. Search CMD again, right click, and choose "run as admin"

25) type
Code:
e:

26) type
Code:
cd Bootcamp5/Bootcamp/Drivers/Apple

27) type
Code:
msiexec /x bootcamp.msi
This will NOT remove the drivers, but just the bootcamp apps

28) type
Code:
cd Bootcamp61/Bootcamp/Drivers/Apple

29) type
Code:
msiexec /i bootcamp.msi

30) Let it finish the installation and reboot. And now you can install the hard drives back in.

So now, if you run the bootcamp apps. You should see something like this.
View attachment 797522
Language doesn't really matter, but you can see all the selections.

Those HFS+ High Sierra options will show the hard drive's name (e.g. 8T Backup)

Those APFS Mojave options will show as "Mac" above macOS.

From now on, you can use startup disk in Mojave to select Windows 10 (I renamed the SSD, usually it should shows BOOTCAMP, but not Win 10)
View attachment 797524

And of course, we can use bootcamp apps in Windows to select Mojave.

And have everything working as expected. e.g. Keyboard functions keys, Magic Mouse, BT 4.0, Wifi ac, USB 3.0, etc.

P.S. I am not sure if step 24 - 27 can be skipped or not. You may try, may safe you a minute for rebooting.

Hi, 5,1 here and finally upgraded from Sierra to High Sierra. Would this apply for High Sierra too? I cannot see my APFS Mac OS drive under Boot Camp menu in Windows. My Boot Camp driver is 6.0.56534 (this has been a long time ago so I don't know how I was able to install this). But I was able to download Boot Camp 6.1.7866 version and I used admin mode -> msiexec /i but I got the error message as follows:

"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel".

I don't want to risk it by removing it and not being able to install it. Or should I just do it? **update: looks like it's greyed out and I cannot uninstall my current Boot Camp application". I tried uninstalling based on from your step 9) but I cannot uninstall my previous 6.0 driver, nor overwrite 6.1 driver. Please help.

Thanks.

You MUST use the 6.0.56534 installer to uninstall itself.

Thanks, I was able to uninstall and reinstall the latest Boot Camp driver from iMac Pro 1,1 which was 6.1.97204. But now I encountered another problem.

1) I still do not see High Sierra partition on Boot Camp Control Panel.
2) I swapped my GPU to GTX680 Mac Edition, but for some reason I no longer can see my boot screen anymore even with option key pressed using Apple OEM wired keyboard.
3) I only have the recovery partition on Yosemite, and obviously it doesn't see the APFS drive.

Now I cannot even access High Sierra anymore. Can you help? (I can boot to Windows 10 Boot Camp fine).

NVRAM reset always bring you back to macOS on next boot.

The GTX680 Mac Edition card's boot screen should always works.

Make sure your monitor is NOT in DP1.2

Hey thanks, so it was indeed DP1.2 so I had to use a HDMI monitor and it showed the boot screen. I also did the NVRAM reset and everything booted to High Sierra.

But when I swapped my card back into GTX1080, I cannot seem to get any screen coming up (even with a HDMI monitor). I looked at the order for my boot screen (High Sierra - Boot Camp - backup drive - Yosemite recovery), and I pressed option then chose either High Sierra or Boot Camp, but no screen are popping up.

Is there something that I'm missing? This is strange as GTX680 Mac Edition seem to boot fine on High Sierra as default.

**Update: It looked like by default the Nvidia graphics driver went into 'Default macOS Graphics Driver', so I had to change to NVIDIA Web Driver and now High Sierra appears fine. But I still don't understand why I cannot boot with a Boot Camp in the invisible boot screen using Option.

NVRAM reset disabled the web driver.

I managed to get to step 23. But it says "Boot Camp requires that your computer is running Windows 7". I am running Windows 10. Do I have to do something differently to install the drivers on Windows 10?

No, that procedure was actually developed and tested in Windows 10.
