How will the new range of 2017 iPhones be named? [MERGED]

What I hope they do is only release the iPhone “Edition” model. That’s it. Call it “iPhone” and available in black and 2 storage tiers: 128GB and 256GB. Be as ballsy as removing the headphone jack. The 7s and 7s+ glass-backed dummy models were only to catch leakers and throw off the public.

If they do something as stupid (not "ballsy") as that, and price the single model out of reach for even folks such as myself who can afford it, but are fiscally conservative, you will have a whole lot of people who are overdue for an upgrade jumping ship to the Android side.

I just had my 6 totally die, after terrible battery life since iOS 10.3, and I'm quite happy to "settle" for the regular 8 with a much improved 10nm A11 chip as well as a significant camera upgrade.

All the leaks and reputable leakers have said that there will be 3 iPhones this year, 7s, 7s Plus and a new iPhone 8/Edition or whatever they decide to call it.

I actually like the Edition name, it's something I could see Apple doing, they already do it with the Apple Watch Edition (even tho it is different materials I could still see Apple doing an iPhone Edition)

I also don't believe Edition will happen. Apple will have some other marketing term attached to the OLED model are my thoughts. Seven days to go.

i'm voting for 7s/+ and no number for the "edition" (or whatever it's name) phone.

if it does get the number 8, the others will likely too, or they will sound like last years model. (which they kind of are, but that's probably bad for sales)

No one is saying there wont be 3 phones, but calling it the iPhone 7s and then the 8 would make the 7s feel outdated already It would likely be called the iPhone Edition or Pro.

Even so, I would gladly accept "X" over Edition or Pro. But those Of terms are highly unlikely for the OLED model.

I'm thinking Apple will go with 8, 8+ and 8 Edition.

Then in 2018 they could use 8S, 8S+ and 8S Pro.

I believe this year's redesign of the 7 is what'll cause the change in naming cycle...time will tell!
