I unplugged mine 10 hours ago and have used it 4hr 45min = 72% battery remaining, see my 22.5 hour/10 hours screen shot from the other day - the battery seems great. however, while it might drain only 5% for hour of reading a book on kindle with black background, it can easily drain 10% per hour watching video.

Ok my battery life has been approved after setting the phone as new but I miss my messages and pictures! Going to set it up as iCloud now...

Don’t restore from an iCloud backup. Just sign into iCloud only. You will get your notes and contacts.

Hi Theyarealivin!

I used the application "iMazing"...excellent program (stupid name). The cost is $30 - 45 depending on which license you purchase. It is free to download to test out, but to do much more than test, you would need to purchase the application. The application runs on the Mac.

Someone else on these forums mentioned this as an excellent tool for useable/dependable backups vs. iTunes.
It does backups and software upgrades and more.
So I wanted to copy my messages/SMS from my old iPhone 6SPlus to my new iPhone X. But first I wanted to set the X up as a new phone. So I did that, got everything configured, and then went about the process to transfer ONLY my SMS/texts from the oldie to the newbie.

It did work beautifully.
Note: I did not transfer my photos from my photo library - I backed those up to my iMac and didn't want them on the new device (@20GB photos); they're better saved on 2 different external hard drives and in an editable/backup.

If you would like the instructions I used, just let me know. I don't want to make this post too long.

Thank you! I appreciate it! how's ur battery life?

3%
Usage 7 hr, 42 min
Standby 15 hr, 37 min

Twitter, Safari, 1.5 hour phone call, 40 min podcast with AirPods, some YouTube, and News app.

My battery was not good first few days. I noticed an app on my phone (Dolphin) that no longer is available in the app store. When I tried to open the I got a message that it's no longer available. After deleting it, I wondered if this issue was effecting battery life as it was trying to restore itself for 3 days after doing my initial restore.

I don't know if its a coincidence but today was my first day of substantially improved battery. My phone has 36% left and my usage is 10 hrs, 20 minutes, with standby at 15 hrs, 17 minutes. Top apps are Twitter 26%, Apple Watch 15%, Podcasts 13%, Watchplayer 7%, Mail 6%, Home and Lock Screen 6%......

I also changed my home screen wallpaper to black.

After a week with this bad boy, my battery life remain sick. Best battery of any phone I’ve ever had going back to the first iPhone in 2007. OLED must help tremendously.

You're welcome!

My battery life wasn't great for the first few days -- as I was heavily using the phone. After 3-4 days the battery life seemed to improve. Today was not a good day to judge by, as I took a lot of photos and 45 minutes of camera use (and I used the flash) eats a big chunk of power. Not to mention, I backed up the phone, upgraded to 11.1.1, and then restored the new edited backup with my SMS files from my old iphone. At around 6 hours of use I had 45% battery left (with 9.5 hours standby). After that I dropped the phone onto the wireless charger (which is really convenient - no plugging/unplugging! so the phone is completely useable and at hand).

I do find that this phone has battery life similar to my 6S Plus. Some things use a lot less battery - like streaming bluetooth music to my headphones. As long as I don't spend much time looking at music and making playlists...rather just listen, several hours of listening barely touches the battery percentage.

Not a good battery life! What’s causing it?

After the first week of usage, I can say it's a big upgrade from my 6s; after a typical 10 hour workday with the 6s, I usually had about 20--25% remaining. Now with the X, I see anywhere between 50--70%. And on a day when there's extremely light usage, I might end up with 75% after ~12 hours.

Noticeably better than my 7, but not as good as dad's 7 Plus.
I have had some weird battery "issues" though, where the phone rapidly drained to 0%, but those have been isolated.

If you charge any phone over night you’re fine. I have wireless charging stands at home and work. When I’m not using the phone that’s where it sits most of the time. Battery has never been an issue for me on any phone.

How can I do a set up as new if I already did a restore from iCloud when I first started the phone? Do I have to go to erase all content and settings and then set up as a new phone that way...?

No, you need to plug it to iTunes and restore it. After the restore, sign into iCloud and select “set up as new iPhone”. You should have good battery life.

This is my battery life. Right now it’s at 52% hoping to hit like 6-7 hours most! I don’t think I’ll ever see a day hitting 9-10 hours of battery life. I don’t know how u guys do it! This is with moderate usage...

But he’s going to lose his data such as messages, health data I don’t think it’s worth it...

Can I just go to settings and erase all content and settings, and then start my iphone up as new iPhone that way though? Or do you have to plug into iTunes and restore to set up as new?
