Early on it was ok, not great, but ok. I guess giving it time, things improved quite a bit. I only lost a couple of percentage points over night, and during the day it generally doesn't chew up too much battery.

We were at Universal for a few days, and I got a good chance to use it in a normal, uncontrolled "field test" :D. All cell, lots of photo/video (and subsequent editing), email, messages, sharing to various services, I even had a couple of "poweruser" (*snicker*) uses come up where I needed to manage some customer infrastructure (since we snuck out on a weekday :D). Had plenty of battery, never felt like I was going to run short, could have easily made it the 1/2 first day and a whole second day if needed (though I did recharge).

Outstanding.

Coming from an iPhone 7, my battery life has been PHENOMENAL! I'm going to sleep @ 20-50% every night without topping up during the day.

2h18min used (no music playing)
90% remaining
6h 35min standby

no background refresh
mail sync set to 1h instead of push
no "raise to wake" (using the "Apple Folio Leather Case" which activates/deactivates the screen when you open/close the front cover)

As each day passes, the battery becomes more and more fantastic. Mondays, I work at a location that’s about 1 hour commute via subway (i.e. signal cut between stations) each way. Streamed music via AirPods (gotta love apple music’s aggressive caching of tracks within a playlist while streaming) while reading via safari reading list and twitter (while in stations), then regular wifi usage at work for half the day, 1 hour of wifi based video streaming while running on the treadmill, variety of phone calls, and ended up at just over 10 hours usage and 17 hours off the charger when I plugged in at 8%. Does the 8+ go a second day? probably. don’t particularly care, X hasn’t died before day’s end despite moderate to heavy usage yet. And it definitely matches or exceeds my 7+.

I really would like to set up my phone as new to see if that takes care of my battery issues but I don't want to have to rearrange all of my apps, redo my folders, etc. Is there a piece of software out there that could make this less painless?

I'm not a heavy user but my battery life is very good. At end of day I have about 60% left - again I'm not obviously a heavy user but I'm not experiencing that battery drain while just sitting there that several people seem to be having

I also have an iPhone 7 Plus and I'm considering to switch. Keep us posted! How's your iPhone X battery usage compared to 7 Plus on normal work days?
I switched from the 7+ and I would say the battery lasts about one hour less than the 7+. I never had to worry with the old phone, but now I'm keeping an eye on it all the time again, like before with my 6s.
It's OK, lasts generally through most of the business day, but after office hours it's dangerously low and if youre outside or on the phone a lot I would say keep a power bank nearby.

Sounds about right with my usage, testing X for 8 days and going to 8+ i'm averaging about 1.5-2hrs more on my 8+ with similar usage.

I am getting similar, if not better battery life on the X. I still plan on getting a portable battery for those days I travel.

At the moment, it's almost 6:00pm, and took it off the charger around 9:00am when I got in to work. At 68% with 3:35 of usage. Not bad at all.

I purchased a wireless charger for my desk, and used it exactly once since Nov 3rd lol

I am just not seeing the results most of you are. I am contemplating going back to my 8+. BUT, out of curiosity, do you all have and use facebook? I always read and see videos of Facebook being a notorious battery hog. Also, I use outlook for mail and it shows i have used it for 14 minutes, but 89 minutes in background. That must be eating at it? I don't really know how to limit this battery since I never had too. It's frustrating!

Just came home from work with 91% battery left, seems to be improving a bit, that’s about 30% more than I usually have from my 1 year old 6s both on 11.1.1. Loving it.

haha how? Did you not use it?

Not heavy use no, but then that isn’t the point, exactly the same usage on the same OS version and I’m getting about 30% more left in the tank by the time I get home, so, very happy with that, also very happy not having a phablet.

I've used my phone a lot today, instead of letting it sit doing nothing, so most of my usage today is on screen and not in the background kinda stuff.

4:09 Usage
6:17 Standby
61% remaining

So, it's consistently using about 10% battery per 1 hour of Usage, same as yesterday. It's just that I took it off the charger 2 hours later today than yesterday because I didn't have anywhere to go. I'll post screenshots and final numbers in about 6-7 hours before I go to bed.

it depends on what youve been doing on the phone. based on your past screenshots the bulk pf what you do seems to be on kindle, which doesnt really stress the phone much. couple that with using dark mode within kindle app you are probably getting good usage out of it.

100-90% on average will give you a little over 1 hour screen on time. afterwards however i have seen percentage drop more precipitously.

additionally, screen brightness is key. most of the day my screen brightness will hover anywhere from 65% to 100% brightness as i work in a brightly lit environment.

lastly, as we all know, usage does not equate to screen on time.

yes, fb and messenger are known battery hogs. i would use fb mobile website and not the app if you dont check fb often. and yes, the plus model will give you better battery life. people saying otherwise are full of crap.

Today I have less time on Kindle and a bit more time on Phone calls, iMessage, Photos, and FaceTime, than other days. Also I played about 20 minutes of music via mini-Jambox on my 1 hour bicycle ride today, and it shows up as 2% battery use for 3 minutes on screen and 17 minutes background. 5 minutes of Safari only used 1%.

I’m deleting the YouTube app for a day and see how doesn’t it impact the battery life.

Maybe I don't use the YouTube a whole lot to begin with, but after deleting the app for a day, it doesn't really make any difference in my battery life. On average, I get about 1 hr of usage time per 10% of battery life.

But, how does one get apps, messages, settings, etc. back on their phone? Or do they not?

You can sign into iCloud and re download all your apps. It’ll show all the apps you’ve purchased. You will lose your iMessages. But WhatsApp messages will be restored if you have WhatsApp backup turned on. Settings will be lost. Think of it as getting a new phone. Everything will be fresh and new.

Took off charger at 7am, it's now 1pm and still showing 100%. This is after admittedly light usage but fielded a couple of calls, sent quite a few messages, e-mails etc. The battery on this, as I've said before, is absolutely incredible for me. Used as a normal phone and not a tablet replacement that people glue themselves to, it's fantastic.

This is all with WiFi on, BT on, location services, raise to wake, mail push on 5 different accounts. Honestly, anybody who can't make it through the day with the X might want to evaluate their habits and addictions!

I guess I need to then because I’m at 88% with 1hr4 usage and 1hr36 min standby.
