Quite poor I get about 6hr usage and 12 hour standby with background refresh off and mostly being on wifi. Turning off bluetooth and wifi when not using them.

Thing is, every iPhone I've ever had, it's been a case of some people get awful battery life where I seem to get great battery life. It just comes down to how you use it and what for. I know that my girlfriend rarely gets through a day because she's on her phone constantly messaging and looking at social media sites. I don't, and prefer to talk to people in real life rather than live it virtually.

I am getting similar, if not better battery life on the X. I still plan on getting a portable battery for those days I travel.

At the moment, it's almost 6:00pm, and took it off the charger around 9:00am when I got in to work. At 68% with 3:35 of usage. Not bad at all.

I purchased a wireless charger for my desk, and used it exactly once since Nov 3rd lol

What are your settings?

I was in your shoes - many complain in forums but my experience is so different.
That's despite restoring from backup from 3G till 6S Plus. X was the first I installed as new which would be the ideal for battery life and yet. It's been disappointing.

Not because the numbers are bad. The X has died on me 1) when I was driving from a place I had never been to so I needed GPS 2) when I was out and needed to call an uber ....just real world disappointments so far...

Took off charger at 7am, it's now 1pm and still showing 100%. This is after admittedly light usage but fielded a couple of calls, sent quite a few messages, e-mails etc. The battery on this, as I've said before, is absolutely incredible for me. Used as a normal phone and not a tablet replacement that people glue themselves to, it's fantastic.

This is all with WiFi on, BT on, location services, raise to wake, mail push on 5 different accounts. Honestly, anybody who can't make it through the day with the X might want to evaluate their habits and addictions!

This is a bold statement. Your usage my get you all day battery life, but many it won’t. What about the people that need their phones work sending emails, making phone calls, and using their phones all day for business? There is no way the X or a plus could get them (me) through a day. Sorry not everyone is on social media or playing games that can’t make through the day on a single charge.

"Usage" is not the same as Screen on Time (android) correct? the reason why i asked is because my iphone shows 6hr 20mins and I still have 45%. I dont remember SOT being over 6 hours.

Yep. It does not mean actual screen on time. mKBHD says it gives 6 hrs SOT. Real world usage im seeing about 5 hours

So example. IF I am listening to music with the screen off for two hours, Usage will show 2 hours correct? So i guess as long as the iphone is "awake" even tho the screen is not on that is considered Usage time?

Coming from an 8 Plus, it lasts me just as long actually.

Typical usage after unplugging at 5 A.M.

Browse social media first thing in the morning
Work out and record about 10-15, 2 minute videos of my lifts (Squats, bench press, deadlift)
Edit videos using picplaypost and the built in video editor
Upload to social media

Browse social media throughout the day
Use work email
45 minute phone call at lunch
20 minute phone call after work

More social media at night

Phone is usually around 20% by 8 PM or so, but I'm near a charger and I plug it in by 9.

So, I think the iPhone X's battery is pretty darn good. :)

Oh man. I upgraded to a new iPhone Every year till the 6s. Then I got stuck. The headphone thingy really did it for me.
I am blown away. This is by far the best battery I have ever had. It even beats the 6s plus battery pack. I can’t believe this phone. Never ever have I had a full day of use and end up being with 56% at 9 pm. Personally I think this is by far the best feature of the X

Typical day- started using it at 11am, now it’s 9:40pm. 9% left, look at my stats:

Main culprit is bad cell connection with 30% phone usage.
Really disappointing.

going from a 7+ to a X, battery life has been much improved for me.

What I normally Do (which i consider average use)
  • Unplug 8am
  • stream pandora for 45 min commute to and from work
  • typical browsing, texting, reddit throughout the day
  • medium use of clash royale and youtube (both wifi and LTE)
  • airpods and pandora always on when im not in a meeting
  • connected to an apple watch and in a bad signal area part of my building

What I've Changed with the X
  • I changed my wall paper for home screen and lock screen from a dark grey to true black to take advantage of OLED
  • made reddit and twitter settings into dark mode
  • turned the white reduction on and to 80%
On my 7+, my battery would be 20% on my way back home and requires some charge during the day to make it until i sleep, but on the X, i have made it without ever needing to charge throughout the day. Very happy with the results.

Best battery life I’ve ever had on any iPhone I’ve owned. After 7 hours using it I still have over 70 percent battery (I do have my wallpapers pure black and I have Reddit and other apps in dark mode too) http://i.imgur.com/yznFywE.jpg

I guess changing the wallpaper to black, and using dark mode etc might help.. but I just don’t like how it looks, makes the shiny new phone feel like an iPhone 3g.

Really hope these discussions will become unnecessary at some point. Battery technology really needs to atart advancing a little more rapidly. Maybe someone will take graphene and run with it.

(From earlier this morning)
Just hit 1%. Stats are

Usage: 10h02m
Standby: 51h13m

Safari 22%
Facebook 19%
Home/Lock screen 12%
Messenger 9%
YouTube 7%

Don't listen to music on the phone. Always have WiFi and Bluetooth turned on.

I can comfortably charge every other day should I need to.

Frankly standby life seems to be really good. This was also about 3 hours calling, LOTS of email and web browsing.

I think some perspectives needs to be shared when it comes to battery life. I don’t know how people are getting the bad battery life they are getting. I personally don’t have the screen at full brightness. IMO there is just no reason to have it. I have no problem seeing the screen even in sunlight. That might be the only time I turn the screen brightness up. I am literally doing whatever I want on the phone and have about 50 percent around bed time. This phone battery has taken me back to the blackberry early days of phones. That was a time you didn’t even have to think about having a charger on you.
