Still on normal settings and no low power mode, once the battery was down to about 33% at 8PM (from 44% at 5:30PM) I added about 3.5 hours of eBook reading in the Kindle app to run it down faster. It dropped to 10% over the next 4 hours by midnight.

With my phone off the charger since Saturday morning I'm now at 14h:0m Usage with 35h:30m Standby at 10% remaining.

Your stats are totally messed up. Reset your phone may help.

Your stats are totally messed up. Reset your phone may help.

I reset my phone Friday before I did that battery test I posted, I also reset the phone again today.

Interestingly, my usage time that I had posted above was about 28% of standby for the first 25 hours off the charger, which is pretty typical of any iPhone that isn't touched much and is otherwise just doing it own thing, except for a couple of phone calls.

But then I started to use it more that day to read a book for 3.5 hours at the end of the day, and usage time jumped to about 40% of standby in the last 10 hours. However, that 3.5 hours of eBook reading resulting in a 7 hour climb in usage. So I agree, at the end, the usage climbed faster than it should have.

One day I used the phone non-stop over 10 hours off the charger, and my 8 hours of recorded usage was about 80% of standby time, but usually it seems that I can use the phone continuously for 8-10 hours with very little standby before I kill the battery. I'm sure with gaming and a bright screen I could kill it in about 6 hours.

Today, I used my phone a bit more than I did over the weekend, with Kindle, Phone, Safari, Messages, Mail, etc, and I still got 9h:7m usage with 14h:40m standby and 25% remaining.

Of that 9h:7m usage, I really did use the iPhone screen for about 5 of those hours (note - in the "last 24 hours" usage time/% estimate screenshot below, a lot of the last 24 hours was while I was asleep from 2AM to 10AM, then I had it unplugged for 14 hours from 10AM - 2AM before posting this).

If I could stay awake I could get another 3 hours of usage over 20 hours of standby, I think.

I’m seeing stunning battery life since 11.2!

In the realms of my old 7plus even! Yey!

I didn't make it to bed an hour and a half ago as planned, so here is an update at 20% battery left. Still no low power mode or airplane mode, same push, location, and background app refresh settings as previously posted the past few weeks.

I've got 9h:27m usage over 16h:11m standby, with 20% battery remaining, and you can see I've actually been using the phone today with Kindle, Phone, Safari, Messages, Mail, etc... So, goodnight for realsies...

The same as my iPhone 7.

I also don’t notice that much of a difference when using my fast charging cable, but it’s quite fast on my iPad Pro.

Decided to run it down to 1% today:
8 hrs 40 min usage
27 hrs 50 min standby
No low power mode, no music, a good mix browsing, FB, Insta, messaging, Navigation, and some photos.

Not possible for me to hit the 10 hr usage mark since I constantly on LTE, wifi usage is very limited.

Happy!

From your screen shots. Your Screen on Time for everything was 5hrs. 40 mins...but usage shows over 9hr?????

From your screen shots. Your Screen on Time for everything was 5hrs. 40 mins...but usage shows over 9hr?????

That's the case with every phone screenshot posted here - apparently from what I've read, the iPhone will perform background activity that creates usage, even with no apps installed to attribute the battery drain (location, notifications, radios touching base with towers, etc).

Typically an iPhone that is left untouched and unplugged will have a usage that is about 25% of the time that it's reporting for standby, even if no apps were running to which to attribute the usage.

Everything we do with the phone during the day adds to that, so typically with using our apps normally during the course of a day we might end up with as much as 8 hours of usage for every 16 hours of standby, on average. Typical usage time ends up being about about 50% of the standby time, unless you play 6-7 hours straight games or movies and kill the battery with the usage being almost equal to standby time).

Completely anecdotal observation: Turning off tap to wake doubles my standby battery life. Not sure if it's worth the tradeoff, though.

I think I'd need either "tap to wake" or "raise to wake" turned on to enjoy it. Which would save more battery if turned off?

It’s safe to say iPhone X battery life is downright awful thanks to iOS 11. Let the early adopters test it out, I’ll buy iPhone X-2 next year even if Apple doesn’t fix the issues. I’d rather wait

8 -8/2 hours seems to be around what I get
Listening to music doesn’t take as much battery as screen is off. In that case I get about 9 ~ 9 1/2

not here it isn't.

get a full days usage easily.

had a really good day yesterday with it, this is with maybe 8hrs of streaming audio to my JBL but still very impressive. The rest of the time was checking e-mail/texts/web all push off. I think I was at 7% when I took this screenshot

FYI my OKC username is iphoneXrulez4ever

I usually get around 9 hours of usage by 5 percent battery. Even yesterday I had 9+ but for some reason today the battery has been crappy. First time it’s been bad since release day so I’m not upset. Must be something with iOS 11.2.

Mines pretty bad. Don’t use any games or apps really. Just web browser

Doesn’t last a whole day

First 2-3 days I wouldn’t have to charge til I went to sleep

I'm avg 12~13Hrs usage and 36Hrs of Standby, but have hear some get close to 19Hrs usage out of it... HOW?

The battery on mine just went down from 50% to 15% over 30 mins while I was having lunch. Phone feels very warm for some reason.

I checked "battery" under settings and it says safari has used 39% and reddit 18%.

Is there any way I can check the reason for this battery drain? Never experienced this before.

The Apple genius can connect to your phone over WiFi and run a diagnostic that tells them what apps are crashing in the background and that very often affects the battery life. When I had that issue in the past, removing the apps they identified as involved stopped the "1% battery drain for every 1-3 minutes" problem.

7-8 hours is what I have been averaging (all on LTE), and that seems par with most others here.Maybe on wifi can push to 9-10 hours.
