I really like the lack of duplicate apps. Hopefully Samsung is paying attention here.
I have to admit...I'm really pleasantly surprised by what HTC's done with the 10. My preference would be for something a bit bigger and I'd love it to be waterproof but otherwise, they've really tick all my boxes, so to speak. And AirPlay works out of the box...that's an unexpected bonus.
Dang the Samsung cheerleader bias is just as blind as my negative Samsung bias. Phone isn't even announced yet.
And waterproofing has been hinted at.... why are the Samsung fans counting it out already?
Isn't the $699 price historically higher than HTC's previous years' flagships?
I think that price might be a mistake given their position in the market right now...
Nope. No sign of any sort of waterproofing during this morning's announcements. Samsung fans apparently counting it out because it's fact.
Considering the Galaxy S7 is currently $695 at AT&T, I have to agree. This is likely HTC's last gasp in the smartphone arena and they really need to make a splash, even if it means taking a hit to the bottom line. Make HTC relevant in smartphones again, they worry about profit because the former doesn't happen at all without the latter.

And yesterday when I wrote that it was not a fact
And thank God they put the buttons in the correct position....and no front logo!! (looking at you Samsung )
I really wasn't expecting to see anything too relevant from HTC today...and I'm finding myself having to fight back a little urge to actually preorder this phone. Hmmmmm.....

UPDATE: As I'm reading I'm coming upon more good news (sorry if it's been mentioned in previous posts already)--USB-C with QC 3.0 AND fully enabled for the latest USB 3.1 standard. Also, less app redundancy, more standard Google app integration (no more stand alone Gallery app, just Google Photos, which ties directly into the camera app). Very nice moves, IMO.

Do it!
There are definitely a number of things Samsung can learn from HTC today. The button placement; the lack of duplicate apps; selling unlocked.
The question is, will HTC succeed enough for Samsung to listen?
I am in the same frame of mind..... I like what HTC has done with the M10. I like what I have read about it so far. But based on past experiences with the M9 and the financial health of the company.....i am a little hesitant. I will wait and get some hands on first. Then at 5.2 it might be a little small. But definitely a good move forward for HTC.....but is it enough for them? With all the rest of the Android phones out there will they be able to sell enough in a crowded market space? As much as I like what HTC has done with the 10, I still think as a smartphone company, they are 'dead man walking'---just too little, too late (and a bit too expensive ).
And I'm not going to pre-order...don't think it'll be difficult to secure one later, maybe even at a cheaper price, if I really feel the urge. If it was waterproof, I'd probably jump on it as I'd love to have a waterproof smartphone on vacation. Truthfully though, I still prefer to live day-to-day with iOS and it's integration to all things Apple. There's just too much compromise for me to leave (and no, not feeling trapt, genuinely prefer how it all ties together, especially when it comes to my family and friends), as good as the hardware may be.
I hope Samsung learns a few things from the HTC M10. First remove the front logo.......and sell their phones unlocked from their website.Do it!

The capacitive buttons don't bother me. But I wish they were customizable. We should be able to switch them to whatever side we prefer.
Now that's an idea.
[doublepost=1460479649][/doublepost]Now that it's official, I wonder what the HTC 10 means for the rumored Nexus device they'll be making this year. Similar design...?
Oh....that's right. The Nexus phones will probably look very similar with similar specs. The Nexus phones will be killer then! Now that's an idea.

Yeah, so maybe you should consider your sources a little more carefully before quoting them to belittle fans of other phones. Or not. Keep doing what you do. Peace

What dates do they announce the next Nexus lines?
This might be my next phone! Love that the home button is capacitive and not hardware!
My problem with the 6P is that it's just too big and heavy. I don't want a phablet, even if it's cheaper. I much prefer the size of my S6 or G3 tops. So that's why the 6P is a very difficult choice for me.Luckily I'm on JoD T-Mobile, but that $699 price is crazy IMO, compared to the Nexus 6P can be had brand new for $449. I would never pay $600+ for a smartphone, that's absurd. When the Nexus phone is almost every bit as good hardware wise, and better software wise. But with the 6P being 1/3rd cheaper, I would still recommend that over any new flagship today, price being a main reason.
Or the S7 Edge being what $750, that's insane, and the iPhone 6S Plus being like $800 LOL, who the F would pay those crazy price for a smartphone ? When the Nexus 6P is so much cheaper, and really near as good.
I was specifically searching for info on this and on Android Authority they said it's capacitive, like the one on the A9, so that's awesome.Wait, really? It's not a button? That is nice.

I tried the Note 4 for 3 months and had to sell it. Couldn't adjust to the size.
And the 5X hardware isn't that good for the next 2 years.
