What is it with you and battery life?? LoL. Such a strange obsession. If a battery gets through the day, what is the big deal if it gets through a day and a half? It is like a d*** measuring competition with you ;)

Touchwiz is awful for waaaaaay more reasons than battery life.

And any 820 phone with the same specs, that comes in a Nexus device, I would expect it to get the same battery life as a Samsung 820 device. But without ugly colors, gimmicks, lag and with update support.
yeah but you're missing the point....if TW is such a bloated resource hog as you always claim...then my Note 5 should get blown away by the 6P running stock 6.0.1 with a bigger battery. Fact is TW is optimized so it gets better battery life than a 6P with a bigger battery.
It's ok that you don't like Samsung...don't care but the facts and what you claim seem to be two separate things.....

How can that be if TW is as bad as you claim?

Figure I'd ask if anyone has experience. Can you get a warranty on an unlocked s7 or unlocked htc m10? My understanding for the us, the unlocked Samsung s7 basically has no support. Is there an extended warranty service for this situation? I know the m10 has the uh oh for one year, what about after that?

I guess via third party insurance although extended HTC would be much better.

But what's this talk of keeping aphone for over a year about? Blasphemous

I'm interested to see more of the new Sense. Whilst the M7 Sense was light, it always frustrated me a bit with how it handled icons, shortcuts although Blinkfeed kinda got useful over time.

No, no it's not. That's purely the merits of Exynos compared to the pure crap of recent-years Snapdragons.

I ask because sometimes I pass phones down to my family instead of selling them. I guess there's the issue. Can u get square trade on something like an unlocked s7/m10? How would a claim work? Or getting a replacement?

I agree I've preferred the look of sense blinkfeed though idk.

So if the Note 5 out performs the 6P it is only because of the Exynos? Not because of any optimizations done Samsung....just that they built a better processor chipset? Isn't that an optimization as well? Then the 6P running stock and a bigger battery gets less battery life....
If Tw is the bloated laggy mess everyone claims....all other phones would blow it away in performance and battery life. But they don't. When the new Nexus phones and Note 6 come out with the Snapdragon 820 we will see how it goes then.

Not to derail the thread, but I think the major areas TouchWiz needs to improve on are more related to what Samsung can pull off with the carriers here in the US: How to negotiate less carrier bloatware and more control over software updates. That's the question Samsung needs to answer in the coming years.

TW should continue to improve, of course, but the focus should be in those aforementioned areas.

You talk as if this issue was just limited to the US.

Mind you that said it's easier to get SIM free versions outside the US. Certainly I haven't purchased a carrier version of a phone in many, many years.

Sorry; I'm only familiar with the US. The carriers here are especially difficult. :(

If it doesn't do as well as HTC needs it to, then yeah, definitely. At the very least, more enticing promotions.

Yeah I used to really like htc. Even back to the windows mobile days lol. But the support thing is big to me. I prefer unlocked no carrier branding but because I usually pass my phones down to my family I like after sales service. It's why I asked about how it'd work with the m10, or a unlocked s7.

I just can't wait for the potential of an HTC nexus like this. With android N finally adopting some loved features from TouchWiz, this year's nexus device could be amazing. That's mainly what I'm excited for.

Here's what I'm hoping/thinking will happen with the HTC Nexus this year.

GOOGLE HTC NEXUS 5
-5.2" screen
-Fingerprint scanner will move to back
-Front will lose the capacitive and home buttons to allow for on-screen buttons per Nexus devices.
-Which could mean a smaller footprint (less bezels!). Otherwise, same design, but just with the classic Nexus all black front.
-Boom Sound II (improve on the current re-invented Boom Sound).
-HTC logo on back will be a smaller "NEXUS" logo instead.
-Android N, obviously.
-Allow microSD expansion as adoptable storage
-OR, if no expandable storage, at least offer 32GB standard and 64GB upgrade option.
-Black, silver, and gold color options.

And priced right, this could be a real winner.

I understand the need to move the fingerprint scanner to the rear to maintain the classic Nexus style out front but I'm just not a fan of that position since so much of my personal usage makes that less than ideal (phone on a surface or in a dock). I also don't expect to see expandable storage and would love the display to be a bit larger.

Otherwise I'm quite curious to see what Google puts out this autumn.

Won't the new Nexus 6 take care of a larger screen?

HTC Nexus 5
Huawei Nexus 6

Two premium options. Heck, maybe even a Motorola or Sony Nexus 4 to satisfy the lower/mid range? :O

Not a fan of everything I've seen and read about the build quality of the Huawei built 6P and would've preferred a larger HTC built unit.

Any point in hoping for a Google built Pixel phone?

One can dream. ;)

As much as I would love to see this, I'm not holding my breath.

I am toying with buying one ....

Will decide within next 24 hours whether to do so, it's quite pricy at 700-750 euro and I'm concerned resale value will be poor given previous HTC handsets resalability.

My HTC One m7 was and awesome phone aside from the camera, but I took a huge hit when I sold it.

The resale value on HTC and most other android based phones just isn't that great.

I still want the HTC 10 though.

Yeah that's the whole conundrum. I want it, but if it turns out to be not worth the hyperbole and another M9 (which dropped calls on my network like nobodies business), I dont want to be struck by the resale hit. Likewise it seems in Ireland its a Three (carrier) exclusive meaning a sim free model has to be bought direct from HTC or imported. More initial cost ...

Just not confident enough to pay €750 right now on one.

One of the reviews I read mentioned that the wifi was poor compared to other smartphones. I don't recall hearing any issues about the LTE radios or cellular connection.
