Maybe they can pull a miracle and improve the camera a lot before the release date.

Maybe it's all a matter of software? The sensor may be good.

Am I the only one thinking the M9 actually looks OLDER than the M8.

I really dislike this "dual metal rim" design. It kind of looks like this device was hammered together by a smith, rather than made out of one single piece of aluminum...

They could have gone to the bother of matching headphone port inside colour to the rim too.

The HTC ONE design is beautiful. I'll give them that. They have had the same design for 3 years but the design is good enough so I'm not fused. However the one has never interested me and the M9 doesn't interest me either. I did like the space theme though #

And they could at least have centered it in the golden rim. It now looks as if they missed the holes on the headphone and usb port. Does not really scream "premium" to me.

Is that supposed to be brushed metal? Makes the gold part look scratched.

LOL...did you see the iphone 4 and 4s and 5 and 5s? 4 years of the same thing.

4 years of the same thing based on what? 4/4S were glass and stainless steel. 5/5S were aluminum with some glass.

I think if you look at the devices.....it is pretty self explanatory. It flows with the context of the post and my reply.

I guess. to me it looks cheap and gaudy - not classy at all.

I think that two metal look is a step back. it looks like i could stick my fingernail between the borders.... It doenst look unibody anymore.

Really disappointed they kept the HTC black bar, it make the screen off center for no reason and bothers me when viewing in landscape. Though if the must have it off center, they could at the very least put the bar on top and bring the screen lower closer to your thumb to make one handed use easier.

Still undecided, I was originally going to get it at launch, though now I may stick with my m8 or even get the Galaxy Edge, Samsung really stepped up their game and finnaly released a phone worthy of the hype.

Good idea, if they must have that black bar, would be much better on top, and push the software buttons closer to the bottom then, and easier to operate.

This new two tone design, and step, looks strange to me, like it's sitting in a case almost. And the sides with all the buttons, power, volumes, and sd card, looks way too cluttered, and poor design quality. The M7 sides looked much cleaner, as did the M8, but the M9 has way too much going on there.

I loved the M8 how the back curved around the sides as one solid piece of metal. But the M9 doesn't seem the same, not as flowing and smooth.

All those buttons on on side and all looking exactly the same looks very cluttered and confusing. I'm not sure what makes this device better design wise. It's as if HTC made minor tweaks just for the sake of it, just so it didn't look exactly like the previous model.

They would have been better to just keep the exact same body as the M8, just like Apple does every two years, and just put the new upgraded internals in there. And maybe price it just a hair cheaper than the the popular flagships.

To be honest, I am still very satisfied with my Jailbreak iPhone 6 Plus, and I am a big Android Nerd too. I am totally open and looking to going back to Android, but looking for something really amazing to blow me away and take me away from this JB 6 Plus. And so far this S6 and M9 don't do it. But the M9 could possibly, once I see battery life results.

But right now this iPhone 6 Plus gives me the best battery life out of any smartphone I've ever owned, better than my old Note 2 which was ROM's and tweaked for battery life, better than my tweaked and kernel OnePlus One, and way better than my Nexus 6, and also much better than my old One M8 too.

And with all these Jailbreak tweaks, my 6 Plus operates very similar to a Android phone.

Let's see what LG brings out with the G4, and see what OPO does with their second phone this Spring ?

I was amped for the M9 but I'm definitely leaning more S6 than I am M9. I hate how much room there (still) is between the bottom of the device and the captivate buttons. I wish they bad mad the "boom sound" speaker grills smaller or made them less obvious like some of the predictions I had seen. HTC, sorry. Another evolutionary update isn't going to cut it anymore.

No optical image stabilizer. Big mistake.

The m9 is doing to fall hard against the s6 and then later the 6s.

I truly don't see how the S6 is better than the M9 if HTC improves the camera.

Only advantage I see would be the fingerprint scanner.

The M9 has better design, better build quality (aluminium way way better than glass!), better RAM management (Touchwiz eats too much RAM), better skin (Sense is way nicer and way faster than Touchwiz), probably better battery life, better display (IMO. This is subjective. I prefer any kind of display technology rather than saturated AMOLED, and bring 1080P instead of QuadHD will be better for performance and battery), microSD slot, etc.

If the M9 had a camera as good as the S6, then who would choose the S6 and why?

HTC didn't need to change much in the M9. But they did need to change some design from last year. But they did not. They added a better camera. But the results have been mixed so far from the reviewers. Some say the camera produces very mixed result pictures. Common belief was it had beta camera software. But why would you do that? Give reviewers a product that was not ready to be reviewed? the reviews of the different textured sides have not been good.

I really wanted to get behind HTC and the M9 but I might have to skip the M9. I will withhold final judgement until I can feel it in my hand.

Sure looks like Samsung was being all innovative and stuff from the S3-S5 line and the "design".

The M9 will be a great phone just like the M8 was. Let's change a good thing for the sake of change!! Yay!!!

Add the fact the phone is meant to go on sale in some territories on March 16th - why would your software still be in Beta ?

I can tell which phone is more popular on these forums. The S6 thread is the first on this page, and the One M9 is 22 threads down.

HTC blundered during a time they couldn't afford it. I predict they'll have a worse year than last.

They don't even have OIS in their camera. :(

They may have blundered it, but the more I think about it the more solid the M9 seems. It has the s810 with ddr4 ram, a larger battery and sad card slot. The front in the videos at least seems better built than the m9, its one piece of aluminum with the screen as opposed to 2 thin grill pieces glued on the ends. Plus sense 7 is still better than touchwiz IMO.

Where they messed up on is the design, its thicker and still has the HTC bar. If they get the camera sorted out this could still be a great handset.

i agree. The M8 was a top 5 Android device last year. Keep the same beautiful design, update the internals, stay consistent with the best sound in the business, improve the camera (still not wonderful but improvement) and we are talking about one of the best Android devices out there again in 2015.

I guess not having curved edges and a glass back make it lagging behind.
