I am considering getting the M9 and selling my Note 4, but I feel like I am giving up too much for the M9. No fingerprint scanner, weaker camera, smaller battery, same ole Sense, and minor processor upgrade at best.

So what is you reasons to get the M9, perhaps it's size? Maybe not liking TouchWiz?

Better check out the S6 since you have the N4. The Samsung rep today at BB spoke nothing but positives about the S6 after seeing and trying one. Beforehand he pretty much did not think anything would have him consider the S6 over his N4.

HTC just can't get it right.......shoots self in foot.

HTC One M9’s launch in Taiwan is delayed to receive ‘latest’ software version

HTC’s latest flagship, the One M9, was scheduled to make its debut in Taiwan today, but apparently the launch has been delayed according to an email sent to CNA that said the Taiwanese manufacturer was busy working on the latest version of software for the device.

So when is the HTC One M9 (why is it called the One M9?) actually going to make its debut in its home country? According to HTC, the phone will be made available as soon as possible, while people who had pre-ordered the handset have said (on the Mobile01 social networking site) that shipments of the 32GB HTC One M9 were postponed until March 20th. Other would-be buyers have mentioned that the delay could span anything from a few days to a couple of weeks, with the 64GB version allegedly being delayed until the end of March.

The alleged cause of the delay is down to software issues that could lead to boot failure, at least according to another post on Mobile01. Whatever the reason is for the delay, you can understand why HTC being more willing to slightly antagonize customers by delaying the launch and not suffer the fall-out of batch of bricked phones. There is also a chance that the delay could be so the HTC One M9 will launch with Android 5.1 out of the box, but that’s just a wild notion of mine that should be taken with a sack of salt.

He's a samsung rep. I wouldn't expect him to think any differently or be any less gushing .... it's his job after all - I'd be more shocked has the Samsung rep said he was getting the M9 ;)

Not sure why they think releasing it at the exact same time as Samsung is a good idea anyway. They simply don't have the marketing budget that Samsung have and you would think they would simply release it later around June instead. Even Sony & Motorola don't go up against Samsung's release schedule.

Time will tell how well the M9 sells.

Yes but he did not think he would even consider getting the S6 cause he really likes his N4. Food for thought, he is the same boat as us as he needs to sell the N4 and he told he he would not mind taking a hit for the upgrade. That is a total turnaround from his initial plan of keeping the Note 4.

Its a double edge sword, either they wait and everyone who is upgrade eligible has done so already or they have go up against them and their marketing. But between everyone upgrading either in the fall (apple) or spring (Samsung) it doesn't leave much for the summer as people have either upgraded for a Samsung or are waiting on apple.

Valid arguments, I think because of this HTC doesn't have another choice, and I don't get it, why LG thinks they are good to release between Samsung and Apple.

M9 seems like it has the recipe for what I would like for the most part: timely software updates, good hardware, owning the M7 in the past, and having a newer experience than Samsung's lack of support for the Note 4. They've been very lazy. I just cannot see myself not using a phone without a fingerprint scanner anymore though.

At least they can legitimately advertise it as the hottest mobile of 2015 ;)

What the hell has happened to Qualcomm and their snapdragon range ? They've been having issues with heat since 801, 805 and now 810 to greater or lesser extents. They clearly need to think of some other way of moving this chipset on efficiently because it's clearly not working just making it faster ..

Feel bad for HTC here, they have limited funds, and were almost out of business last year. They do not have the deep pockets of Apple or Samsung.

The One M9, reminds me of the EVO 3D, just a sad successor to the awesome EVO 4G.

HTC should have held off on the M9, until this Fall, and put the Snapdragon 820 in it, and put more time in all new metal design like the rumored renders.

Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 820 and Zeroth Platform, Could Hit Consumer Devices Early 2016

Qualcomm did say, the Snapdragon 820 is built on a FinFET process, which could be either TSMC’s 16nm or Samsung’s 14nm process. Continuing, the company also introduced its new custom ARMv8 CPU core, named Kryo.

I think HTC came out and said that their software is not final, so discount all those benchmarks and overheating and disappointing camera results.

Sure hope that is the case. They are in huge trouble if these issues aren't ironed out first before making it into reviews. Yes, every new device will have its early flaws/glitches, etc., but HTC can barely afford to have these stains. If people aren't already looking to the S6 instead, they certainly will if these issues come to light. HTC is in a tough place where extra scrutiny will be placed on the camera. And because they are releasing it almost at the same time as Samsung's flagship, comparisons will be drawn.

The M9 doesn't seem like a bad device, and by every measure, is a reasonable upgrade from M8. But in light of the S6 and the Edge, in light of Apple's insanely successful venture into larger devices (finally), and in light of HTC's overall poor image and past mistakes, people will not be able to see the M9 for what it's worth. And you almost can't blame them.

HTC needs to get it together.

Snapdragon 810 overheating issues on the M9 makes Samsung's decision to go Exynos look wiser by the day. Remember, Samsung built this custom 14nm chip two years ago. Snapdragon 801 was a cooler chip. Snapdragon 810 seems not. Qualcomm failed this time.

The problem with HTC like most other OEM's is they relied too heavily on Qualcomm and didn't make the SoC themselves. Add HTC being stupid again by using metal design. How practical for heat dissipation! Qualcomm got FAT & LAZY thinking they can get away with incremental upgrades without worrying about thermal issues since they have a monopoly with Android and WP flagships.

We now know that Samsung's latest Exynos is seems like at least one generation ahead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810. Cooler, faster, and 14nm. LG, Sony, and many others will soon release phones with a substandard Qualcomm SoC called the 810 while Samsung has got them beaten this year by leapfrogging passed the Snapdragons this time. I am disappointed more in Qualcomm than HTC. I knew complacency would sink in after dominating for so long. There are lows after every high. Qualcomm didn't try hard enough which now affects many 2015 flagships that haven't been officially announced yet.

How can any Samsung hater whether from the Apple/HTC/Sony camp overlook the sexiness from this phone? That platinum gold is starting to look better to me than the emerald green...
