Couple points.

One, I usually use safari because there is no "set as default" for me to use another browser.

Second, Atomic is my iOS browser of choice. It most certainly has the same behavior as safari. Most apps do but it's the easiest to see in a browser. Some apps work differently like tapatalk. Tapatalk will freeze its UI with "loading" so it can do its thing without UI effecting it's performance. But usually downloading / loading is frozen during UI and if it's constant UI it's frozen indefinitely. Regardless Atomic freezes not by it's choice but by the OS. You know this it's been this way since the start!

NEVER had good luck with downloading anything off the web with any iOS browser. Maybe you can share a link, I always get browser not supported message. Mostly from those file sharing web site, which work fine on even the stock android browser.

Give me a link for want doesn't work for you and I'll try it.

Here's an easy way to test, go here:

http://www.largesound.com/ashborytour/sound/

Hold your finger on the sample MP3 and choose "Download File". You will then see it download in your Downloads menu (third icon from the right on the bottom).

Just received my one x today. The home soft key has a yellow tint while the back and multitasking key is has a white backlight. Is the middle softies supposed to be yellow or are all three supposed to be at even brightness.

Oh I'm sorry we are talking about different things! I know you can save media, sounds pics pdf's etc.

I mean actual files. Like (just for example) rom files from romnation, or I needed the USB drivers for another device from Motorola.com, or any of those file sharing websites.

I made the leap yesterday from the 4s to HTC One X
this phone is nothing short of amazing. The screen size is perfect and I cannot believe how fast 4G is (live in San Diego).
Learning the OS is a challenge, but so far I am very happy i made the jump

I made the leap as well. I just wanted a phone with a bigger screen, and more customization options. I never got the point of 'jail breaking' a phone, so it will do things other phones do. I want to play with customizing, and I made the switch.

Is IOS easier to use? Yes, but then again, I've been using it since the original iPhone. Change every now & then isn't so bad.

I'm back on my iPhone after spending a week with the HTC One X. At first I loved the big screen but going back to the iPhone, I realized it's a much more realistic and useable size for a phone. The biggest thing with android was no matter how much I tweaked it, I could never get it to run anywhere near as smooth as ios. When I say smooth, I mean graphically nothing stutters at all. The safari browser is also light years ahead of any other browser you can download on the android. A good example of this is pulling up the full androidcentral website, it lags horribly on the one x using chrome but is perfect on the iPhone. Call quality and signal overall is slightly better on the iPhone. But those lte speeds are amazing on the one x. The one x suffers from android fragmentation with alot of games, FIFA 12 for example, failing to run at all on the lte versions of the one x. Only thing I really didn't try is a custom rom since the bootloader isn't unlockable yet, but do I really want a phone that I had to load with a custom os just to try to make it better than a stock iPhone?

Exactly my sentiment. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple kept the next iPhone the same size, they have a reputation for doing what they think is best, and not letting other companies dictate their position.

If their research showed a 4.3" phone would have been best, the first iPhone would've been that size. It's not like a bigger size phone is a new technology that wasn't possible back then. I imagine they'll have some comparisons on the next iPhone keynote explaining why 3.5" is their preferred size, and get on with it.

moved back to the iphone. That being said, i didn't give the htc a fair chance. maybe i'll give it a fair test run in a few days again.

btw, in my opinion. the build quality of the iphone still surpasses the one x. its cool that it has a plastic unibody but i still refer the feel of metal.

that and matte coating makes up oils like no other.

Will be returning the one x. Love the functionality but it's just too big to use comfortably one handed. I think a 4 inch iPhone would be the sweet spot.

The technology wasn't there in 2007 to put a 4" screen in a phone. Also, back then, 3.5" seemed large enough. (anyone remember Bill Gates saying 640k ram would be plenty?). Things change and move forward. Two years ago, everyone else started moving to 4"+ screens, leaving only Apple with an entry-level screen size.

To your point though: If Steve Jobs where still around, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the next iPhone was still 3.5". Now, though, I think Apple is ready to move on and get with the times.

I'll be glad when the next iPhone drops so it can settle this once and for all. If Apple STILL keeps a 3.5" screen, you'll know they'll never change it in a million years.

WHat was the main reason you even tried the One x?

I almost returned my Note after a few days when I first got it because I was so used to IOS on my Iphone4. I hung on for the full 30 day return period.....and never returned it. Almost 3 months later, I couldn't imagine using an iPhone again unless the screen was much bigger. My wife and son have the IP4, and when I use it it just seems so small. Sure it works great, but browsing the web is very difficult with a screen that small.

What a crock that is. When the iPhone came out it had the biggest screen which was one of the biggest selling points at the time.

Consider it then took two years to give the iPhone MMS when even simple flip phones had that, three years for copy and paste and four years for notifications, id say their research is seriously lacking. And they only added notifications to keep up with the other guys and they will do whatever they need to, to try and stay caught up but they never will because they only release a new phone once a year.

Hmmm, maybe they should research that!

This defense that Apple would have gone with a larger screen from the start is the biggest BS. John Gruber loves to smugly proclaim this too. (And by doing so, influences the viewpoint of too many others.)

I do find the One X to be too big to operate comfortably with one hand but I also think the current iPhone screen is too small. The sweet-spot is probably between 4"-4.3". 4.5" if you can eliminate the majority of bezel.

waiting on the next iphone. I would never go back to a product mid cycle!

I don't blame you for waiting. I'd actually be in a bit of a dilemma - the iPhone 4S is easily the best iPhone they've ever made (the iPhone 4 but faster and without antenna issues = pure win!) and will take some beating. I'd be afraid of the 5 being fantastic but buggy or some other problems..
BUT I wouldn't want to get a 4S and find that the 5 came out a few months later and was revolutionary.

Oh for sure, I can agree with that. The worst thing is the screen bezel - it's already clogged up to Hell and back with dust and dirt in the gap between the screen glass and the bezel, and from what I've heard I'm counting the days before bits of dust appear underneath the screen. As it's plastic, I love that it's so light but it also feels cheap. There's definitely an element of "getting what you pay for". It's all a game of pros and cons though..

They have to take it back, they're just looking for excuses.

1. Go back and try again, if they refuse, ask to speak to a manager. If he refuses, ask to speak to the District Manager. If they refuse to call for you,

2. Did you sign a new contract to get the phone on a subsidy? Has it been under 30 days? If so, they are legally obligated to allow you to give back the phone.

3. If they refuse to cooperate, call AT&T directly, while in-store.

4. Be persistent, don't give up, and be polite. You'll get what you want.

Good points, but copy and paste came in iOS3 so it was two years for copy and paste.

The first iPhone had much more serious lacking features than MMS, such as message forwarding or sending to more than one person at a time! Even now it lacks features such as mass messaging (having to individually add each contact would take forever).

So who still has this phone? Going on one week tomorrow and I'm still not sure what to do.

Here's what I love:

-screen/screen size

The screen is amazing and the phone isn't to big at all. I can comfortably type on this one handed (typing this post right now on it all one handed). With all the rumors about how the new iPhone won't be any bigger than 4", I'm kinda disappointed as I love this big screen. Reading books on it is actually possible now.

-Customization

I love all the little things I can do without having to open an app. The phone Is so snappy and fast, but like the iPhone it has its hiccups here and there.

-battery life.

This is after a full 12 shift at work. My iPhone would usually be dead.

This is the longest I've kept an android phone, and so far so good. Still have 20 days to return it.

Chrome is Beta on all ICS devices so yes it could be very buggy. They tell you that when you download it.

This phone on Sprint, which I am currently on, would be the phone to go to from my iPhone 4s. It looks like such an awesome phone. I've tried Android before and didn't like it, but the hardware on this phone is sweet.
