Its funny I cant put the phone now since its so easy to use! I'm not sure what to do now. I was planning on getting an 8 but might just wait to see what the SEII brings.

It would be great if Apple made an OLED edge to edge in this size. I think eventually we will go back to that point of smaller is better. Just remember the first Cell phones lol
Apple will only do it if Samsung comes out with compact Galaxy S model! Apple does not like to be a risk its profit margin. Apple just wants to just do enough to get a new updated model out. If the 8s does not sell well, Apple will be force to upgrade their 4 year LED 720p 326ppi screens to OLED screens in the next models. It does not take much effort for Apple to go from LED to OLED and go to edge screens since all the R&D was done already on the "X"! The material cost will be $100 more per phone however, so Apple will try as hard as possible to not upgrade to OLED if at all possible.

Blown away by the OP. I am only just now getting an SE, even though the rumours strongly suggest a March 2018 announcement of the next model, because I fear that they will spoil the next model.

It has happened many times, including with devices I have had. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact was the zenith in physical design, just like the iPad Air 2, to give two examples. The Z5 Compact (and iPad 2017) went off the rails.

My SE will be great for at least two years if not longer.

This is game changing stuff, as Tim Cook said, this will set the groundwork for phones / devices for the next decade, and you want to take a pass?!

I don't see what's game changing about a 'me too' (X) or slightly incremental (8) phone.

I finally found ONE thing I'm slightly bummed by with this phone: vibrate. It's so damn loud in the morning that it woke my wife up a little while ago. Lol. I was able to go in and make a custom vibrate tone for texts - a quick one-tap vibrate - but you can't do that for third party applications. For instance, I'd love to use the same custom tone for Snapchat, Tweetbot, MyMail, etc. and it's not possible.

Aside from that one schtick, I'm still loving this phone. The size/form factor is EASILY the best part.

I turn vibrate off

Setting—sounds—vibrate on Ring and silent off

I have an Apple Watch so I never need vibrate. Plus I use to always get the “phantom” vibrate when I had it on.

Turns out my wife wants a smaller phone, too. I might upgrade her to the SE (she has a 6), and wait for a SE2 for myself.

Originally was going to give her my 6S, but she's tired of having a large phone. She uses a bulky Otterbox case which makes the bigger size more of an issue, but that kind of case on the SE is still a small enough phone that can be used one-handed.

That is what I think I may do. Just wait until March to see if they release an SE2. If they do not, hopefully X stock will be plentiful, and I can make a decision at that time.

The main thing pushing me to keep my current SE is how well it is running IOS11. I have been running the beta, and now GM, and it runs perfect. I do need to get an AC+ replacement though. I have dropped it on concrete over 10 times, and the font is starting to separate from the body. Shockingly, the screen has not cracked.

i would definitely consider the next SE if they modernize the internals

touch id is also last gen right?

I’m sure they would. The original SE was a 6S without 3Dtouch and first gen touchID. Everything else was internally the same as the flagship device at the time.

The battery is probably the best feature. It last an entire day with heavy usage.

i never use 3d touch, but the current touch id is so much faster than first gen.

It is, but it honestly is nowhere near a deal breaker. If they update the SE, it will probably be an iphone 8 internally with the same camera, no 3Dtouch, and possibly no wireless charging. If it maintains the price point of ~$500 it will be a complete steal.

Yes haptic vibration is way better but you lose the headphone jack. The vibration scared the $&$& out of me yesterday!
and wait until iOS 11 comes out in a few days; it's like we're gonna have brand new phones all over again ;)

Glad you're loving the SE. Got the thing "prepaid" in August for $150 and just switched it over to a postpaid plan. It's an insane deal. For like 1/3 of the price of the 7 you get about equivalent performance, better battery life, and the beautiful small form factor.

Hmmm, the whole idea of vibrate, going back to the early 90s phones, was not to make a sound! E.g. when you're in a meeting. You are only meant to feel it. Oops.

Was it on the nightstand at the time?

Since Best Buy has the Total Wireless iPhone SE for $129 and the iPhone 6 for $199, I got one of each to replace my wife's and my iPhones 5s. She started with the SE and I used the 6. After two days, she wanted the 6, so we switched. But she is always carrying her phone in her hand when she leaves her office to visit employees down the hall. The 6 was too big, so we switched back. But by then I'd grown used to to the SE, and went out and bought another one for me. The 6 is in a drawer. :)

The SE is an amazing and small phone, i really envy its size however i'm not so sure about how good will handle ios 11....

I just decided on the same thing. I used to upgrade every year, until the iPhone 6. The upgrades after that just didn't justify the cost, but now my phone is 3 years old was looking forward to the X.

But the X is just a Micky take on cost, and actually a really poor design as well. As my parter really needs a new phone (his 6 isn't charging properly), I've decided to upgrade to the SE instead, and he can have my current one.

As the SE is quite old already, found a second hand 64GB model with a couple of months warranty left on it. Will see what happens in the next upgrade cycle, but I may have to move over to an Android phone at some point.
