I do not know the model number off the top of my head but it was a Nokia I bought from a Verizon store back when. I brought my Nexus7 with me to make sure the charger was compatible. Works fine with my N6.

I've been reading some are hit or miss with the N6 so trying to find a stylish, functional one to get. Also seeing how much slower it is

Crazy as this sounds, I am back to my OnePlus One, and let me explain.

The past 6 months, I've been lucky to have some cool smartphones; HTC One M8, OnePlus One, iPhone 6 Plus, and Nexus 6, and again the OnePlus One now, which IMO is the best for me of these four phones. The OPO to me feels like a true Nexus phone, like a Nexus 5-1/2. It even looks like a larger Nexus 5  Where as the giant Nexus 6 looks and feels very different and not really part of the Nexus line IMO.

The Nexus 6 is great, awesome AMOLED screen, super fast hardware, runs stock Android, with great ROM development. But this thing is a huge whale ( Shamu ) the width is just too hard to get comfortable with. yeah sitting on the couch at night with it is fun, like a mini tablet, but out and about, it's just too wide, and thick to use comfortably IMO. And battery life on the Nexus is just ok.

The iPhone 6 Plus was great too, it was Jailbreaked, and had a nice 5.5" screen, but the phone felt top heavy for some strange reason, was pretty hard to one hand operate, and iOS is just not my cup of tea, even JB, I still missed Android's customization, and software keys, etc...

The OnePlus One though, "just works", the size is very comfortable to me, and between the Nexus 6, iPhone 6, the OPO is the easiest to one hand, and use. The battery life with a custom kernel is off the charts great, I am getting 7.5h to 8h Screen On time, something the Nexus 6 could never do, best I get on the Nexus 6 is like 5.h Screen On time. But the iPhone 6 Plus is great battery life.

This is just my 2 cents.

Good info as mine is coming tomorrow and have been wanting to try it forever.
I want to give it a fair shot as I love stock android and it's the only OS to make me leave my 6+.

I also had a OPO in the past and was my favorite phone last year. If for some reason I don't like the nexus 6 and it doesn't work out OPO would be a welcome back feeling at an even greater price now as a used one.

I really hope I like the N6 though but I am getting very concerned at all this bad battery performance talk and width. I have no problems with the 6+ size as I have very big hands but width is different than height for sure in a phone.

5.1 just looks so damn good on this device and seems to fly.

Size wise; my Wife had the Nexus 6 for a few weeks, and then she picked up my iPhone 6 Plus once, to use for just a few minutes. her first comments, were "Wow, this iPhone feels so much smaller, and lighter" The width, thickness, and weight, are very noticeable difference between the two.

But she loves her Nexus 6, I gave her my OPO to trade and use, and she hated it, and demanded I giver back the Nexus 6 LOL.

But the battery life on the 6 Plus and OPO were both stellar and awesome, the Nexus 6 isn't terrible, but it's nowhere near the 6 Plus or OPO life.

Which wireless charger is everyone using for this?

I've seen some be hit or miss in reviews.
I'm using the Nokia DT-900. Big enough to just put it straight on and phone starts charging -never any worries about alignment. Put it on about 10pm with phone pretty much dead then by 6am it's fully charged. Got it for £15 new off eBay. Love it because after the ease of plugging in a lightning cable on an iPhone, micro USB is a PITA.

My OCD still isn't allowing me to stick with one set of icons for long. Cryten was the best thing ever, now I need something new to feed my addiction....

How much did you get it for? I see it for $55 on Amazon which is pretty pricey!

I don't know how sales for the nexus 6 are comparing with the nexus 5 for example but I think Google shot themselves in the foot here and should have at least released a budger equivalent. That was the biggest selling point of the previous nexus.

In my mind the OnePlus One is that phone, it even looks like a larger Nexus 5.

I guess they figured it was time for a large smartphone.

Hard to say cause that is a niche market but maybe they will release a smaller and cheaper one in the future.

I think it has been pretty successful as they are reselling for a a higher price, were pretty hard to get early on, and the optimzation of 5.1 has reinforced how sweet it runs stock Android.

Yes the size and battery life with that screen are major turn offs for some but it is also a big attraction to others.

I wouldnt say it is a device failure at all and is one of the best Android phones you can buy right now. $649 isnt even that much considering what its bringing to the table in comparison to other flagship devices which I wouldnt even consider.

The Nexus 6 has notification lights but they're not functional on the stock OS.

Image

If you root the phone you can download an app that enables the notification lights.

True with regard to the iPhone 6 Plus, but Reachability made it much easier to one hand. And I have to admit, the phone is just slightly too wide for my hands. But I love the phone overall and will be keeping it, and selling my 6 Plus.

I have rooted and installed CM12 and now Chroma rom and I have used the notification light, but it doesnt function the same as its only 3 colors and its obscured by the black bar.

I sold my iPhone 6 Plus, great phone, but iOS is just not for me.

I am back to another OnePlus One. which I owned last year, and a Nexus 6. Both are great or different reasons. Such a hard time deciding which one I like best, and to keep for daily driver. I have been switching back and forth between both each day this week LOL :)

OPO;

+ Best Android phone for battery life, I can get 7h to 8h Screen On time.
+ One handed use much easier on the OnePlus One, this phone feels
comfortable in the hand.
- Screen is dull and bluish, and just an average looking display.

Nexus 6;

+ Beautiful AMOLED display, a very nice looking large screen
+ Very fast hardware, runs smooth as butter 100% of the time.
- Very large phone, almost borderline ridiculously too big.
- Battery life just average, not bad, but not OPO great.

Two positives for me for what you listed for the N6, battery life I will never very fully drain in my daily usage regardless so that is moot. I will live with its size.

I am a stickler for screen quality, that throws the OPO under the bus. The N6 is a dream for games and videos.

For $649, nothing else I would rather have at that price range.

Just went to the mailbox like a kid at Christmas and got my N6 in beautiful white.

It seems more of a grayish white at first glance but thats a great thing in my book as I love the design.

In very early impression in the hand, it feels better somehow than my 6+ even though its wider. It feels very good and on par weight wise. It is thinner than I thought and feels wonderful in the hand. Granted my 6+ has been in an Apple Leather case since I've owned it and when I clean it the thinness comes back.

I thought the backing was more leather like and grippable. Definitely slicker than I thought but I want to rock it naked which is risky.

Cant wait to set it up and mess around with Lollipop.

Don't forget to set it up without a sim in it if it's a carrier model so that you can get the 5.1 update.

5.1 update has been excellent for me. Battery life has improved dramatically for me.

It is the unlocked Google version but I thought it didnt matter once you put a carrier sim in there it would over ride the unlocked piece of it and updates would be determined by ATT?

I wont put the sim until the very last moment but it will be annoying to do the restore every time an update comes out vs waiting on ATT to release.

There is a method to sideload OTAs for unrooted stock phones through adb without resetting.

No problem going naked, it fits very well for my hand size.

Enjoy it, I sure am. Just ask away if you have any issues and we will let you know if they are things we have noted.

My favourite thing with the nexus 6 is using it for reading books. The deep blacks make it easy to read when I set the layout to night mode. Very comfortable reading experience.

Yeah its such a wide device. Any case makes it wider and that's not a good thing. I'm just relying on my dbrand skin to look after the back and that's how i'm rocking it.
