Same here.

In order:

Samsung Intercept II
HTC Rezound
HTC One
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Moto G

I have never felt the urgency with any of these to throw them against a wall declaring android phones are a piece of crap. All worked very well for me and I never have felt sorry whatsoever that I bought any of them.

While more OS related than the hardware, isn't Apple going backwards? How many couldn't wait to move away from IOS 7 within days after they installed it? I rest my case!! :)

HTC Rezound is real device? I thought it was something SNL spoof made it up. Where do they come up with these crazy names?

When I had an iPhone 4S it was jailbroken and it ran much more smoothly than my supposedly better HTC One X+ could ever dream of while having several tweaks installed just to make iOS bearable to use. I don't know what you do to your jailbroken iPhones but you're doing something wrong. Same for flashing Android ROMs; you should never have an issue as long as you review a ROM before you install it and follow proper flashing procedure.

This is completely incorrect. Various tweaks from Cydia can conflict with one another on a jailbroken iphone causing all kinds of issues from force closures to random reboots. Having various authors writing code to effect different levels of the OS will almost always cause this regardless if it is iOS or Android. Just the nature of the beast. The more you add tweaks and mods, the more likely you run the risk of instability. While it is possible to have a synergistic experience, one can not make blanket statements with words like 'never'. Even reviewing a ROM does not guarantee you won't have issues. No two phones are alike and what may work for some does not mean it will work for you.

The title of this thread makes me laugh. I use, and have been using both Androids and iPhone's since their introduction years ago. They're both excellent platforms. Apparently the OP needs to bash Android to make his or her iPhone seem superior. When in fact they're both quite different. Each with it's pros and cons, you can't go wrong with either.

Android hell? May be in 2011, not in 2012 forwards....

What i am going through is OEM hell. It sucks no OEM wants to make an android phone with updates straight from google, a max 4.7 inch size, best in line optics and specs. There is always something missing from the above.

But i am not going to go and blame the android developer team over it. They have done an amazing job so far IMO.

I blame OEMs and google. The former for butchering android frameworks so much that app developers need a dozen devices to make sure they all run the app flawless, and the later for allowing it freely.

AOSP itself and the team developing it is awesome, but google as a whole and its OEMs are a bunch of morons. And that has been my feeling since 2010 when i first used a captivate with eclair on board. Hasn't changed one bit.

I would LOVE it if someone else other than amazon forked android with a focus on making it as awesome on their device as possible.

It sure was. I had one for a quick minute. It was quite a thick sucker for being only 4.3 inches. It was a small brick. Loved the fact that it came with Beats by Dre earbuds though!

I say it was very underrated given the specs at the time. Well maybe unappreciated is the better word cause reviews were very good. Not sure why it didn't sell that well, maybe people don't like bricks or Sense. Given its specs and performance, I easily lived with it especially with its killer audio!

I think the thing that drive me away from it was the battery life. That was the beginning of the end for android devices that lasted 4-6 hours at a time and the Rezound was a battery hog. I knew a guy who had a Rezound with an extended battery. That thing was darn near an inch thick.

LOL! I had that extended battery. The device with the bulge in my front pocket impressed the women! ;)

If Stability is your thing (and why shouldn't it be?) iOS and WP8 have Android beat by a long shot.

I can't say anything about their shortcomings compared to Android that everyone on here hasn't heard a million times. But they are generally both very smooth mobile OS's. WP8 is getting better all the time, 8.1 is looking to be a huge improvement.

I think Android has come a long way, I use a GS4 as my main phone and usually I'm pretty happy with it. But it does crash and freeze more often than any other smartphone I've ever used. My first smartphone was the BB Pearl circa 2006 or so, I've had many come and go since, the GS4 is by far the buggiest. My Nexus 7 is practically unusable, even though it's an original, it is still under two years old and it's been horrific for about 6 months now.

I can't say the same thing although I did have some early road bumps when I tried Android back in 2011. I like Android not mainly for customization. I grew out of it. I like it more because of the flexibility. It gives me some leeway. Android has many useful maintenance/system setting apps that you can't find on iOS.

With that said, I'm thinking of going back to iOS with the iPhone 6s if those recent FAKE renders is still closer to the real thing. I like some things from iPhones like better web surfing, camera, gaming catalog, and battery life. But I would only go back to use iOS as my leisure time/weekend phone. That, and I miss some of my iOS games I want to play again. I still prefer Android as my primary OS.

My HTC One seems close to that perfect workhorse phone with my only complaint is the camera. It is with some software/hardware exclusives that will make me stay with HTC One even beyond 2-3 years or until the battery gives in whichever comes first. While the future iPhone 6s will have 64-bit, fingerprint scanner, better resell value, perhaps solar charging which might be useful if I'm outside alot, and longer software support, the multiple award winning phone of 2013 still has plenty more extras that may never appear on a future iPhones like BlinkFeed, BoomSound, Zoe gallery that can edit/trim any video, IR blaster, OTG, mass storage recognition, Bluetooth file transfer, SwiftKey as my default keyboard, and even a simple FM radio app.

I'm not really into all that proprietary software and services Apple likes to put out. I like it more open or universally used things like micro-sim over nano and a micro-USB over Apple's proprietary wires. I can always use Talkatone/Viber over iMessages. I dont use iCloud. I hate iTunes on a PC. I dont care for iBeacon or Air Drop. Give me Bluetooth or Android Beam/NFC over them. Android holds 80% globally. I dont want to limit myself communicating from iOS to iOS only. I dont want to keep reforming to Apple's rules.

IMO Android gets a bad rap when it comes to stability.

I feel that there is no problem with the OS (at least with respect to kit kat), rather the interface skin and the apps. Since apps are free to run in the background, some with multiple processes going all the time - you are just asking for issues. I wish android natively included controls such as greenify. App Ops should make an official return too. The problem with android is you can't control your apps, which need controlling - at least much moreso than iOS.

I've found my GS4 GE to be rock solid. I could not say my iPhone 4 was/is more stable. I would say iOS 7.0.4 on the ipad air is less reliable.

I agree with most posters here that Android is not as bad as OP says it is. I have an international I9505 GS4 and I flashed CyanogenMod 11 on it (TouchWiz is fugly). If not for the App Store's ginormous selection of apps, I dare say that Android is clearly the more superior platform, and this is coming from someone who owned an iPhone 4/4S/5s.

I would only switch to iPhone for two reasons only - camera and games.

Texting is still better on Android for me because I use SwiftKey. Doesn't matter if Apple increased the screen size in the iPhone 6 because SwiftKey is still better than the default keyboard on iOS.

Since I don't use iTunes and uninstalled that bloated app completely on my laptop, music and videos is still better on my HTC One because of BoomSound, my UberMusic app with the Metro skin, and the excellent headphones I got from it. Plus, my movie/video experience is better with MovieTube & TubeMate combo with the Zoe Gallery app having the ability to edit videos and taking certain scenes only. With internet browsing, iOS can't even save files FROM THE NET with the Safari browser unless it is a pic. Can't save a ringtone from the net and then apply it to your sound settings. You need certains apps to cover up. So many extra steps like jailbreaking or syncing to iTunes to get things done. Can't even move or delete "sync" photos in the gallery! Same applies to songs.

Then the extras from certain Androids like OTG, mass storage recognition, drag and drop, Bluetooth data transfer, file manager, sideloading apps, customization, BlinkFeed, weather widgets, the ability to pick which toggles you want, Adobe Flash player on older Androids, et cetera et cetera.

All that power and smoothness catered for such a limited and restrictive OS. If I bought an iPhone 6 or 6s, I already know what to expect from it after a few days of admiring the design. Boredom. But I can understand why it sells. Good design, good customer service, idiot-proof, simple and just easy to use. Just works. But gaming and camera is where iPhone has got Android clearly beat in most cases. But those are generally the two reasons why I would get it. After SEVEN generations of iOS, it may have polish but it still lacks in so many areas. My honeymoon phase with it like the OP is having with it right now died out years. You need to jailbreak it just to make it more useful.

Even if you like your iPhone, its smoothness and stability, you cannot think this is normal or good in 2014.

And I love iOS, I am just saying it's absurd.

Really? You are going to tell someone that "some people prefer to have a life" in an obscure sub forum of a Mac forum that's talking about Android phones? That's great.

Even if you like your iPhone, its smoothness and stability, you cannot think this is normal or good in 2014.

And I love iOS, I am just saying it's absurd.

I can pull PDFs and documents off Safari.....sure I pull them into another app for saving, but its not much different than saving in a folder on my desktop.

The ringtone issue is more of a "we have a marketplace with paid ringtones we want you to buy so we'll make it hard for you to get your own free". Not really an issue.....

I mean how many people are super concerned about making sure their favorite song is their ringtone in 2014? Sounds more like a 2005 problem....move on.

While iOS has its drawbacks, so does Android. Both have pros and cons - neither are perfect. I, for one, hope we see a better email attachment system and quick reply in iOS 8. But other than those two things, I really don't have any complaints. With Android, there was lots of little things - not to mention the lack of consistency which bothered me.

I wouldn't characterize either as hell, and this thread really does nothing but stir the pot for no reason. I agree with jamezr....mods, let's get this thing closed.
