But I have to rant to everyone about a phone! Why are you talking sense?

/s

Can’t argue with that.

Besides, in this day and age I truly believe boycotts are not possible any longer. Even if someone was selling filet mignon of babies, some people would say “bah I don’t care” and break the boycott. Not like the days when boycotts actually worked, when neighbor spoke to neighbor and they made the neighborhood store stop selling “that crazy Mexican food (tortilla chips)” or whatever they did in the 1950s.

Why do people come here to complain about the price? Yes it is expensive. But iPhones are premium products. You're getting the absolute best on the entire market. There's so many financing options too. With the IUP, you can essentially pay half of the cost per year or even look at the options your carrier gives you. There's also the option of buying the budget iPhones like the 7, or 8. Or wait until the XR, honestly. Or you can look outside the Apple ecosystem and buy a Pixel or Note. But I don't think you will because we all know that Apple is making the absolute best flagships right now in terms of quality and functionality.

We all have a choice to vote with our wallet. They just like to cry about it on forums. Apple is giving them plenty of options but they still wanna complain.

Not the point though is it. Stop defending robbery.
We shouldn't have got to having 'price points' where there's an iPhone for the poor, one for the decent earner and one for those with plenty of disposable income. You can get a fantastic Android smartphone for £800 and yet Apple now have a £1449 model. Last year's X model was £1000 and people were shocked but now they have added 50% to that price in just 12 months. No. Just stop. Most people simply cannot and will not keep apace with these prices.

That is the point. Apple is giving you choices if you don’t like it don’t buy it. Holy **** cry more.

Apple hasn’t forced me to buy anything. Companies are businesses. They all do stuff some disagree with but of all the options I like Apple best.

Funny how they can choose with their wallet but they decide to cry and moan about Apple charging more. Apple is not forcing them to do a damn thing.

There are a lot of options out there. Companies are businesses and not charities. Though prices are escalating there are many reasons for that. One thing is for sure Apple has a long history of making quality products that are innovative and last. They are enjoyable to use, and while they are a business I believe they make good products because it’s their passion and they do want to please their user base. It’s a balancing act to be profitable and do this. The other options are worse in my opinion.

Ill gladly stick with Apple. No other company is providing anything better.

Oh look at that, news from march. How cute.

https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-sec...sales-show-wall-street-analysts-got-it-wrong/

News doesn't stand still you know.

Robbery is Samsung charging $999 for a Note 9 that they will only support for 2 years (without timely OS updates), ang Google charging $850 for their phones while still data mining your personal data and only support it for 3 years.

For the same price point, Apple is supporting their phones for 5 years at the least. Calculate the per day cost, and Apple comes cheaper.

$999 iPhone Xs for 5 years: ~ 55cents per day
$1099 iPhone Xs Max for 5 years: ~60cents per day
$999 Galaxy Note 9 for 2 years: ~$1.37 per day
$850 Pixel 2 XL for 3 years: ~ 78 cents per day

We all know Apple has been becoming progressively greedier and greedier and many people have been ok with that, but this year i think it's time that we say stop.

$999 for a phone that has literally not a single new feature besides slight improvements in water resistance and some "bokeh" crap that could literally be added as a software update. The a12 has only a 5-10% increase in performance cpu based on slides and the gpu upgrade won't be noticeable for at least the next 2 years.

the Xr could have been a success but it ended up too expensive considering it's a single camera with removed features like 3d touch. and what's with that disgusting bezel that looks worse than the iphone 8's bezel??

Maybe it's time to skip a generation and tell them that we're not gonna put up with being milked this easily?
Could you please start loving capitalism, you bloody communist?

People are jumping on the OP for their opinion.. Which by the way is valid. Apple is charging ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a PHONE. You can pay that all you want, do the payments, etc. At the end of the day it's still $1,000. The price is unacceptable. The reason there are even multiple threads on here regarding price is because people continue to just accept that the prices Apple is charging are okay. I would love to know exactly how the iPhone is worth $1k or more. Even the "budget friendly" XR is $749. Apple is simply pricing some people out of being customers. They seem content on that because there are always a group of, as the OP said correctly, SHEEP. Stop giving $1k over like it's okay. And if anyone wants to say I'm just picking on Apple I also will say that Samsung charging $1k for their phones is just as ridiculous. $1,249 for a 512gb (storage no human being needs). Give us all a break and stop being sheep.

Where I am at on 2-years contract $50 per month plan
iPhone XS max (512gb) $1100
Note 9 (512gb) $400

So what you wrote is not too right.
Only iPhone retail (MSRP) price = selling price
All other phones MSRP price >> selling price.

The price is acceptable to a lot of people even if it isn’t acceptable to you.

If the price is too high for too many people, the price will come down.

It’s nice that you’re able to judge how much storage a human being needs, though. You should go to the delivery threads to tell people they’re ordering too much storage.

People are missing the entire point here: regardless of how much money you think you're saving with your cute little math equations, no matter how much you put down or if you have zero down, no matter how much you sold your "old" iPhone X for to recoup the price on a new one. The overall point is the same: you are paying ONE. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. on a phone. And it's ridiculous

"If the price is too high for too many people, the price will come down" uh... It's already too high but no one wants to admit it.
I guarantee you if you went around town and asked, I bet 9/10 people will tell you that paying that amount of money whether up front or spread out over 12,24,36 months or whatever is INSANE

If the price were too high I wouldn’t have paid it.

I think the problem here is that you are projecting your opinion as fact.

You can’t guarantee any such thing.

Look, if you’re right, the prices of phones will come down. I guess we’ll see what happens.

Oh boy another premium comment. iPhones have a lot of the same technology other phones have. They just cost more. I think that was the OP's gripe. Has nothing to do with Premium. Has to do with brand recognition, and Apple always charges more even when it's not justified. Keep paying the inflated prices no one's going to stop you.

Someone just posted a post here https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...esults-show-2x-faster-download-speed.2138871/ about how the XS and XS Max are up to 3 times faster than the X when downloading/streaming plus better radio reception. To me that alone is worth the upgrade for 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM and the LTE-U/LAA. IF that doesnt spin your prop then theres also the machine learning and physically bigger screen that was missing last year. It isnt a iphone3 to iphone4 upgrade, but it isnt as little as a 7-7s upgrade either.

It's another classic Apple first generation product that gets its issues fixed by next year's S model. Early adopters pay the price for that and they can live with the drawbacks or not.

I read that posters comment, and what they said was correct. The iPhone really _is_ a premium phone, as are all the iPhone models. But your remark about the iPhones ‘having a lot of the same technology’ is not necessarily true’. If you factor in some of the latest iPhones, just with Face ID, True depth camera/A.R,, gesture controls, OLED display, ect makes a significant difference in the interaction with the iPhone and creates a distinct differential between other iPhone models. What all the iPhones share though, is they do have is longevity of iOS support. No, we all gather brand recognition with Apple, that’s understated. But the same theory applies to many of these threads that are duplicated, can the consumer justify the price point for the upgrade? (Rhetorical).

That's where you're wrong. They've forced you to pay more and because you're trapped into their ecosystem or whatever, you happily pay it.

Last year's X model was £1000 and people were shocked but now they have added 50% to that price in just 12 months.

That's some funny math you go going there. And you're right. When we compare last year's cheapest X to this year's most expensive XS Max option, the price does indeed go up considerably. Nearly 50% as mentioned.

But if you're being truthful and honest about things, you'll compare apples to apples. Last year's entry level X phone was ~$1,000. This year's entry level XS phone is ~$1,000. The story stays the same when comparing last year's 256GB X to this year's 256GB XS.

Looks to me like they added 0% in just 12 months.

I'll not defend that price tag. But you also can't throw around made up and misleading numbers and not get called on it.

The forum here gets regular posts from folks switching to Android. I don't think the ecosystem consideration is the same weight for everyone.
I frequent the alternatives to iOS forum and the amount of people who try Android but then go back because they miss iMessage or Airdrop etc really isn't funny.

True. The XS Max is £100 more than the X in its most basic guise, not £500 more. Still a sizeable leap on an already incredibly expensive device in 12 months.
