I have been wanting to get back to iPhone but was waiting for the right time. This may not be it.

I was an iPhone loyalist for years. Upgrading almost every year from my first 3GS. Just before the X announcement, I sold my 7plus at a good very good price since timing is key to get the best resale. In the place of the 7plus, I got a large format Android - Mi Max 2 as a "bridge" until I got my hands on the X. It was very cheap - about USD $250 and it had dual SIMs which is an amazing feature because I travel internationally a lot.

Well, I fell in love with the device. Even though the specs were pretty lackluster, for less than 1/3 of the what I got for the 7plus, I thought why in the heck was I spending all that money for an iPhone?

I got tired of the Max, so on a whim I got a Mi 8 last month. It only set me back USD $425 and it features a beautiful 6.21 OLED display, great camera, 6gb RAM and a flagship Qualcomm 845 processor and yes dual SIM. It is blazing fast.

Yet, I was still ready to go back to iPhone again....but now for the cost differential I'm seriously doubting it will make my life that much better. I'm going to wait another cycle I guess.

My thing is, I love the Iphone X Gestures just not the screen size. So I’ll be good now.

Maybe you’ll find someone who will join you, but I predict this will be the best selling lineup ever. Pricing never mattered before.
That's why they told us total iPhone X sales right? Outside of the US the price was insane.

Apple is constantly removing me from their product lines.

They get rid of the SE instead of updating it. They get rid of the iPod line and my favorite Shuffle. I have no desire to drop 800-1500 on a phone even if it’s a “ONLY X A MONTH!”

The only Apple product I’m seemingly married to anymore is my iPad Pro. Which means it will get discontinued within 3 years.

I agree. Tablets are the one area where Apple faces no credible substitute. Android experience on tablets (even with Oreo) is still pretty lacking.

Are people disgruntled the XS has more features than the X?

How is it "greedy" when Apple kept the $999 price?

Upgrade between the X and XS isn't great. But at least the XR is bringing the new form factor at a little more attractive price.

Apple's duty is to its shareholders and maximizing their return on investment. If anything, their BOM might drop in price and margins increase more. People are willing to pay $1099 for the entry level XS Max too. A lot of people miss the enterprise aspects, so they can show more disgruntled attitudes.

It has a lot of new features - new chips, new camera, new speaker system, etc.
A lot bigger update than I expected.
New processor and new camera is literally the absolutely least they could possibly do. That has been in every single year over year update (except I think the iPhone 3g used the same processor as the original iPhone). If that’s all they did, it ranks as one of the smallest updates of all time.

Samsung did barely anything from the S8 to S9. Apple did the same thing. Those companies are the height of the industry.

If people want innovation, they have to look at the Oppos, OnePluses, Huaweis, etc. Dodgy company tactics and software negligence aside, OnePlus has the best value for $529 imo. But that's with dodgy company tactics. I am not going to cheap out on that side just to save a few bucks, especially since I value longevity with my next phone purchase. 5 year software updates cannot be beat imo.

Apple's production allocation probably focuses on the 256GB version.
Of course it does. I’m sure they are somewhat privy to what the market will opt for initially which will be the median for most people.

Having said that, any color in the 256Max will probably deplete and be first to promise delivery past launch day versus the 512Max.

Hopefully there are phones staged and flying in as always and this launch goes a touch smoother than the last couple have.

If the iPhone XR was available the same day as the others it would make ppl's decision much easier

Blah blah blah no new features but speed resistance camera blah blah blah
Bro I am on the iPhone 6s still. Maybe it’s time you sheep don’t upgrade every year but say you did buy a new thousand dollar phone last year, the x, you aren’t meant to upgrade! But guys like me, who hasn’t done crap in 3 years.. it’s new tech and current value for the same 1000 you dropped last year on crappier tech.

Silly sheep.

What does Samsung has to do with this here?

Everything cause Samsung Fanboys are worse than the so called Apple sheep.

Samsung has had major devastating issues with their products and people didn’t bat an eye at it but if the same had happened to Apple there would have been a reckoning people probably calling for a boycott.

There was a pretty big outrage following the Note 7 debacle...

I see both sides. Tough to really add any breakthrough innovations when you’re business model is “let’s realese a new phone every single year.” (Might not be the greatest business model, but that’s just me)

But at the same time, I watched the same old keynote “it’s our FASTEST PHONE EVEEEERRRRRRRR” - Tim Cook
It’s like dude, it’s SLIGHTLY faster. You made a bigger screen, something you should have offered last year but purposely held off so you’d have something “new” this year.
