We all know Apple has been becoming progressively greedier and greedier and many people have been ok with that, but this year i think it's time that we say stop.

$999 for a phone that has literally not a single new feature besides slight improvements in water resistance and some "bokeh" crap that could literally be added as a software update. The a12 has only a 5-10% increase in performance cpu based on slides and the gpu upgrade won't be noticeable for at least the next 2 years.

the Xr could have been a success but it ended up too expensive considering it's a single camera with removed features like 3d touch. and what's with that disgusting bezel that looks worse than the iphone 8's bezel??

Maybe it's time to skip a generation and tell them that we're not gonna put up with being milked this easily?
I agree, Apple denotes Greed. The highest priced XSMax cost almost as much as a MBP - go figure.

Very recently I broke my Apple ecosystem and got a Fire TV and it felt good on many levels. Wasn’t a big deal either.

I discussed with my wife and we will go android next year if Apple decides to discontinue the XS and XS Max rather than dropping the price. 2018 is the first time I’m skipping an annual upgrade in about 7 years

I’m just not enthused about what was shown or the prices.

they could have EASILY made this a success just by releasing all their phones with a base storage of 256gb and making the xr have 3d touch + smaller bezels.

Success for who? No disrespect, but your requirements don't compute. Comparing 6" phones, how much is a Galaxy Note 9 with 128GBs? $1000. How much is a 128GB Pixel 2 XL? $950. The iPhone Xr with 128GBs is $800. The iPhone Xs with 256GBs will be $1,150, and the Max with 256GBs is $1,250. The prices sounds about right to me.

It was apple that started asking more and more with the last few years, it's greedy not even giving a fast charger and now not giving a dongle and the 64gb base storage, it's sicking and even the true hardcore apple users that upgrade every year are saying enough is enough, not that long ago the iPhone was €600, with trump and his tariffs and trying to get apple to repatriate, prices will go up more to the extent of only tech sites and the wealthy will be able to afford the iPhone

Huawei P20 Pro shoots better pictures, has more storage, better battery life, works faster and costs less.

And now this...

Maybe it's you, you know?

The last time an iPhone was $600 was 2010...since then it's been priced between $650 and $750 which is where the Xr is now, which looks like a damn good phone. Maybe the problem is with you and your expectation to get great stuff for nothing?

God when you actually think about it, to not include a little dongle that probably costs a few bucks to make, it's were the fools, was thinking of the XS for this year if there was a price drop but I'd have to get the 256gb and that's €1350, it's gone sickening to be honest!

Apple should have added one big feature like an underscreen fingerprint scanner and everyone would have been happy
While they did say they were using iOS 12 to polish the software, there is just not enough excitement to this iPhone

I can't understand how can they not include the fast charger like everybody else, and now even the dongle. Next year they will exclude the headphones maybe..

I was gonna get the XS Max but at this point it seems too expensive than what I was expecting it to be. I am giving the Note 9 a good hard look. I think Samsung is offering a better deal than Apple. I think this may finally be the year I break my ecosystem and iOS will be my tablet exclusive OS with Android on my phone.

The iPhone X was $999, so if the "new" iPhone has no new features but is still $999, I'm not sure I see the argument.
The problem is that there wasn't a price drop or say 128gb base storage and no fast charger and now not even the dongle, why defend dude your not apples baby, it was the average Joe and loyal customers that made apple the trillion dollar company and now the top iPhones are aimed at the stupid and wealthy!

Still not sure I see the problem. The phone is the same price as last year. You're saying you think the new phone should have more features and/or be cheaper?

You'd get along well with my 14 year old who thinks everything is "stupid".

It's the price people are being forced into, I'm here in Ireland and if you go for either the Xs/Xs max we nearly all agree you need the 256gb, that is €1350 for XS and €1450 for Xs max, in all fairness that is a pure rip off. BTW the XS max 512 gb is €1700. Even the carrier's won't be stocking the 256gb never mind the 512gb, none of the carrier's are stocking the 512gb note 9 because they won't sell

It should be cheaper because:
a) electronic components (especially storage) become cheaper over time
b) economy of scale

It's conscious design & configuration choice to justify high prices

they semi-justified it with a new design last year, this year there's legit no reason to pay $999 for basically nothing. this year's upgrade was by far the smallest upgrade the iphone has ever had.

I'm not being obtuse, but I still don't see the problem. If the price had gone up, I'd get it, but the price is the same. For a phone that you're saying is the same.

It should certainly be cheaper for Apple to manufacture, but that doesn't mean they should pass those savings to the consumer. They exist purely to make profit.

The iPhone price has been creeping up and people keep paying it, so I applaud Apple for continuing to do it. You can now buy an iPhone for $1,500 - and people will pay it. Next year it'll be $1,650. The year after that, $1,850.

Apple even brought out a watch for $10,000 and people bought it!

Probably everyone is shocked because everyone was expecting cheaper prices based on rumours. I think it was going to be cheaper but Trump's tariffs forced Apple's hand.

The problem is that the phone they presented isn't worth the price. 700-750$ for the Xs - better. 1000 - no fkin way!

Well....

As long as they maintain the desirability, they will be laughing all the way to the bank!

good you get what i mean then. what i'm saying is it's finally time to stop buying until the prices go from "absolutely insane" to "expensive" again

This was done to push AirPods/Bluetooth headphones as companies are seeming to ween out Wired Headphones. Honestly Apple should’ve included it for the small cost of the dongle.
