I'm not being obtuse, but I still don't see the problem. If the price had gone up, I'd get it, but the price is the same. For a phone that you're saying is the same.

It should certainly be cheaper for Apple to manufacture, but that doesn't mean they should pass those savings to the consumer. They exist purely to make profit.
The iPhone price has been creeping up and people keep paying it, so I applaud Apple for continuing to do it. You can now buy an iPhone for $1,500 - and people will pay it. Next year it'll be $1,650. The year after that, $1,850.
Apple even brought out a watch for $10,000 and people bought it!
