Since the invention of the iphone you mean ?? This is literally the point at which the game changed in the mobile space. You went from Nokias and ericssons that had durable plastic and rubber. nokia build quality is literally a meme. Need ed charged once a week. Apple gambled on punters will to sacrifice this for a device you had to charge at least once a day, and would smash if you dropped it .... And punters couldn't wait to throw their money at this, henceforth 95% of every phone made since that point is a daily charging required, glass fronted fragile faberge egg device. And people lap it up. for the most part. Remember X-press on covers ??
True. I guess my Nokia couldn’t do much compared to the iPhone and was very plasticy but I do miss that it was a once a week charge (because it couldn’t do much!) and how durable and light it was.

Since everybody is mentioning clear cases, which one should I buy ? :p

I'm planning on buying the iPhone 12 Mini and I'd prefer it to be as minimalistic as possible. Apple's clear case this year has that mark for the MagSafe connector which kind of puts me off. Any other suggestions ??
I ordered a case for the 12 Pro Max in clear from Totallee. It’ll be here tomorrow. They said they aren’t supposed to yellow. We’ll see. A little pricey, but worth it to me.

Ugh, this year, I find it a little harder deciding on the iPhone and case color choices. They’re all so beautiful. But then I ask myself, why do I even bother? It’s gonna be inside the case anyway. But I still can’t stop obsessing over it.

Who else just plans to buy whichever color iPhone is left in stock and then just deciding on the case color?

My green iPhone 11 is in a clear case. So color can be seen. Most of my iPhones through the years, though, have been in a case that hid the color.

Which is kinda why I don't use a case, they cause more damage than my pocket.
I don’t use a case at the beach because sand definitely is a hazard with a case. There was a member of MR who took lots of beach pictures and warned me about that hazard years ago.

At home, the worst I deal with is pocket lint from the occasional kleenex. I keep my jeans pockets vacuumed out though, in addition to laundering.

Another person who likes to use a clear case. Thinking of this one this time. One of the nicest looking clear cases I have seen so far.

I only use  leather cases but for 95% of the time I go naked but this year I’m not buying a case at all just the MagSafe leather wallet.

Oh geez just realized who the OP was. We go through this same song and dance every release.

I typically get a clear TPU case, so color matters some. Haven't decided on the 12 mini color yet. Leaning Blue, but won't rule out white or black either. Nice to have choices as for years of course they only offered on color with black bezels - everything else was white bezels which I didn't like.

No case (and no screen protector) for me, because I want to enjoy the look of my phone. Only drawback is that it doesn‘t lie flat on a table because of the darn camera bump. I used a metal bumper that goes around the phone edges (not back) to even it out, but haven’t been able to find one that matches the green phone.

The only time I use a case these days is when I’m using my Moment lenses. I am looking forward to trying the MagSafe attachment for a card holder though

It matters if you go with a clear case. I been using Apple's clear case on my Midnight Green 11 Pro Max for almost a year now and I'm surprised how clear it is still looks. Previous brand cases have all yellowed pretty badly with the same amount of usage.

In my line of work, I have pretty much unlimited access to alcohol wipes. I clean my phone every day.
Are those safe to use on the finishes daily like that? I use soft cloths used to clean eyeglasses.

I’ve used their clear cases since my Xr. I put them on the XR’s and those of my best friend’s kids phones. They all wanted to be able to see their colors. It’s amazing the accidents those thin polycarbonate cases have enabled the phones to survive! I do think at times they make adjustments to each case design. I noticed my first 11 pro case seemed too thin and flimsy and was disappointed in it. The second one I got was sturdy like I remember the one for my XR being.

I am still trying to decide if I want to go with the Apple clear case. Not sure I like seeing the magnets on the back of the case.

I need/want a case with a kickstand so I have only found black cases with stands that I like. So colors don’t really matter to me. I am jealous of those who don’t use cases and keep their phones in great condition. That ain’t me!

Might want to look at this one. It’s a clear case. And ESR cases are pretty good I find.
