You obviously haven’t tried all the clear cases. Mine doesn’t show any dirt or grit.
I have owned every iPhone since the original... and over the years... I have probably tried at least 1 clear case on every one of them... and given each one... about a month of trial... they all pretty much suck.

I never liked clear cases. Something about them just seems ghetto. It definitely cheapens the overall look of the phone, IMO.

Just seen the new Apple cases for iPhone 12 and noticed that the bottom is now covered, which makes the phone color dilemma even less relevant now.

In my opinion it’s doesn’t but then again my case is for my benefit and not to impress others. I think the Apple cases are poor and overpriced for what they are. Plenty of choice out there though.

Now see for me starting with the iPhone 8 Plus I’ve used apples official leather cases because I like the look but just as importantly for me it’s easy ingress and egress when putting it in and taking it out. I frequently take it out of the case when I’m at phone to admire the feel, build quality, and look/color. I’m a minority case probably. i don’t use vault-like cases like otter box Because yeah then I wouldn’t go through the difficulty. So yes color is important to me

You would have loved 2010. The iPhone 4 only came in black (white had been announced, but was delayed), AT&T was the only carrier, and the only choice was 16 GB or 32 GB of storage.

To me the cases are uglier than any scratch or dent... so no, i never use a case and that is why the phone color matters to me ;)

Phones slip out of pocket too easily for me to go without case. At least with case it helps protect when it hits floor/parking lot. My 3G with its cracks from drops have had me using cases.

I am still trying to decide if I want to go with the Apple clear case. Not sure I like seeing the magnets on the back of the case.

I think I would wait until/unless I decide to get accessories. For now, a $14 clear amazon case.

I'm one of the few left rockin' the bumper case! Have used a Bumper since they became a thing (iPhone 4, I think)... I love that they protect the corners while still being able to show off the rest of the phone (and they are small)!

They are becoming harder and harder to find though! I haven't been able to find one yet for the 12 Pro, but I am on the look out!

I have AppleCare. If I drop it and the damage is more than I’m willing to live with I can get a replacement. So you cover yours in a case, why would you care if it’s scratched up underneath?
For me, I want to avoid the time, energy and stress of replacing my phone. So, I use a case.

Might want to look at this one. It’s a clear case. And ESR cases are pretty good I find.

Thanks. I have an ESR kickstand case for my X now and love it. I always try to get ESR cases. Have them on my iPads. I will be trying one of these. Appreciate the tip.

Has anyone used the Spigen Neo Hybrid Crystal? I've been using the Spigen Neo Hybrid Herringbone on my iPhone 8 and have been happy with it, but have never used a clear case. The price is pretty great on Amazon (lower than buying it direct).

I bought it once for one of my previous iPhone. It was to slippery for me, so I discontinued using it. I have pretty much stuck to silicone cases from Apple and never had a phone breakage in spite of the many drops.

Spigen Clear case with glass on back. I use a clear case so I can see my beautiful phone until such time as I can go without. Unfortunately, clear cases tend to yellow over time, but the Spigen glass on the back makes it less probable. Love the new ceramic coating to prevent screen cracking so will go without any glas screen protector this time and see how it works out.

Ugh, this year, I find it a little harder deciding on the iPhone and case color choices. They’re all so beautiful. But then I ask myself, why do I even bother? It’s gonna be inside the case anyway. But I still can’t stop obsessing over it.

Who else just plans to buy whichever color iPhone is left in stock and then just deciding on the case color?

That’s why I always buy black or silver. It’s going to end up in a case anyway.

because there are clear cases for exact those purposes?

The problem with clear cases, for me, is they always seem to discolor and turn into dirty light brown cases. And, they also show a lot of smudges. The apple clear case I bought last year - the pricey one - it’s hands down the best clear case I’ve ever seen. No discoloring. But, it still shows a lot of smudges on the back.
