Didn't you try the iPad Pro and pencil at the store before you bought it? If you would of you would of realized how it worked and felt and would of know you didn't like it and it wasn't for you. Would of saved yourself a lot of money. It amazes me that so many people don't give it a try before they buy.

That is exactly the reason I bought the IPP over the SP4. I was convinced from reading the web and viewing videos online that I'd get a SP4....but the play in the Store completely changed my mind. I was probably 60:40 in favour of SP4, but the actually experience if using tipped it the other way.

I will be returning my iPad pro. I have a technology addiction and own all the apple products and a couple Windows tablets including the Surface 3.

The reason is that the iPad pro is really too expensive for the incremental value and the size is too large for a pure tablet. I don't need it to replace a laptop but if that was a need I could get more excited. Compared to the iPad Air 2 or the new retina MB big of those are better values. I do love the pencil but not enough to pay $1000. Apple will probably end up getting the $1k from me at some time but it won't be for the iPad Pro.

I hate to return mine but think there just isn't enough incremental value for the $1000. I agree with previous posts that the iPP vs the Air 2 is a no brainier. I already have a rMB and an Air2.

I also agree with others that the software isn't there yet either. Some of the apps look horrible particularly in portrait mode. I still think a Windows or MacBook can't be replaced by this device and software yet. The pencil is great however.

I do a lot of work in the music studio and thought the size and power of the iPP would really show with virtual instruments and connecting to Logic Pro. Not sure I saw the value there too.

Love this post. You know it's meaningful when the junkies don't even want it.
I retuned mine also. It's not the price really, it's the size, and the horrible desktop. They didn't even bother to tweak it for the Pro, yet expect people to shell it out for it.

What i'm curious about now, is what Ebay will look like after the extended return date is up.

I just hope they do the pen thing with the Air 3. I like the pen, it's awesome.

No way is Apple giving pen capability to the air, it would reduce sells of the iPad pro and that's something they don't want to happen. Since hybrid laptops/tablets are becoming more popular, the iPad pro is apple's future.

Love the Pro best IPad to date. You shouldn't buy it if you can't afford the price of admission.

The home screen? Apple has a pretty keen eye for detail, so it seems pretty likely that they looked at the home screen and thought it was OK, or they couldn't figure out an appropriate "tweak" to push for this version of iOS. The lazy fix would be to just double the amount of icons on the home screen.

I'm old school. Paying $1,200 for a tablet (media consumption) is absurd. I don't game on my iPad Pro. I use it primarily for youtube, watching movies, netflix, watching sports, browsing. Can't get any real work done. I've tried using Word and it's very difficult without a mouse.

SP4 hits the sweet spot for me because it allows me to use it as a tablet for very basic apps, and then if need be, allows me to be productive. Their app store isn't that bad either.

The only thing that will suck is the battery life. 9 hours (iPad Pro) vs 7 hours (SP4).

SP3 heats up even on basic tasks like web browsing and youtube. I don't know if its fixed in SP4 but I highly doubt it because it is a full OS running.

SP4 still heats up and even less battery life....SP4 has so many bugs...I tried it out a couple weeks ago and would not want anyone to suffer like I did before returning it.

I am not sure how the performance of the iPad Pro is so easily dismissed as the fundamental reason alone to own the Pro? A9X and 4gb ram is a HUGE upgrade over the current iPad Air 2 and probably even the next Air 3.

whats the point? it still runs apps that are optimized mostly for 1GB of ram devices and iOS is also the same restricted OS. talk about a waste of "power". Dont tell me u notice animations being 0.00002 miliseconds faster

The point is, bigger screen means more productivity, in my experience. I only have my iPP with me as we are traveling. Yesterday I was using split screen, to view a PDF document on one side and to write a report with Word on the other. Both documents were in full page mode and no zooming was needed. I also used Remote Desktop to move files to my Dropbox a couple times. It maintained connection while app was left in the background. This was not possible on my Air 2, and it would disconnect the moment I switch to another app.

This morning I'm sitting on my bed and typing this in safari in portrait view, and there is still so much viewing space left with screen keyboard up. By the way, I haven't recharged this iPP in 3 days.

$1,200 is nuts.

Thankful they cost $799 and $949.

Mine was $735 as an open box.

Definitely wouldn't of bought it for $1,200.

I mean, really, it's not like holding back Touch ID 2 will give people much incentive to upgrade next year. If the iPP 2 was released next year and the only difference from this year's model was that it had Touch ID 2, would you upgrade? I wouldn't. Conversely, how many people would refrain from buying the iPP this year because it doesn't have Touch ID 2? There isn't a strategic reason for Apple to hold it back. It has to be a design/production/cost issue.

Similar to how one of the mini 3's biggest things was tough ID. I wouldn't, but some might...good question anyhow

That's changing the argument though.

Just because you don't find it useful, doesn't negate the fact that It's an example of Apple releasing older tech on a new product.

They've done equivalents with the iMac line, - I mean - releasing HHDs on the premium iMac line? Give me a break..

$1,200 is the minimum. What planet do you live on? Who gets the iPP with only 32GB in storage? $949 (128GB) + $99 (Apple Pencil) + $169 (Keyboard) = $1,217 before the dreadful taxes.

Haha.

I actually got it open box for $735..

The 128GB one is $890 or so open box.

Mine had the plastic on it and looked brand new...

So you're buying things that aren't necessary and calling them part of the cost to try to make a point?

David, iPP 128 wifi brand new from Sam's Club.com for $897, Apple will price match, better then open box for 890 but if the plastic was still on I guess it can't be that bad.

What kind of work do you do that you need more than 32GB of storage for work? I just checked and my work documents for the last two years only amount to 5GB.

The pencil may not be necessary but the keyboard is necessary in order to use the iPP as a productivity tool. Also, I include those accessories because I am using the SP4 to compare it against.

Even without the accessories, $949 is very expensive for just a tablet.

I am a young lawyer who needs a keyboard to type legal documents in Word and use Excel for a variety of financial documents. I also need the pencil to annotate PDF documents and sign forms and agreements.

32 GB in my experience is not enough. I need multiple APPs and they add up. I also like to locally store movie files and music.

If you want to store movies and music on your iPad, then that extra $$$ for storage shouldn't count as a necessary cost of using your iPad for work.

How much storage do you need just for apps plus work documents?

That said, maybe something like the SP4 is more suitable for your needs, and that is perfectly fine. Not everyone has the same needs and preferences. My Mom fell in love with the iPad Pro at first sight, but I couldn't get her to even glance at a SP4, lol.
