beta 6 / beta 7...? So which is it? And is this the fix to the issues? If so I guess us Catalina peeps are screwed. ?‍♂️
Yup. I found that pretty ironic. That's a verbatim copy-paste from Apple's release notes.

Now, what would be interesting... If someone here does install beta 6 (and it really does install on your machine -- or will it? Is it 6 or is it 7? What year is this?)... could you please post the AMD driver version information along with your experiences of course.

I could do it.... this Mac goes back to Apple next week when my non-damaged replacement one arrives.... but I kinda don’t wanna spoil the Big Sur reveal until full release :(

Pleeeeeeeaaaaasssseeeee ? We would all be so grateful. It will tell us a lot. Including if Catalina is just going to be left in the dust at this point.

So when a secondary display is connected all these issues go away?

Will any display do ? I have an old vga monitor that I could connect ( I have an adaptor)
I have no idea. I was asking people who’ve tested this. I haven’t tried yet because I’d have to order a second display. I am looking for feedback here.

Just a heads up to others who may also try installing the new beta on a separate volume... Apparently Big Sur introduces updates to APFS which leads to incompatibilities on older installs within the same container. So ensure you setup a completely new partition. Otherwise you may brick your ability to install system updates on your current macOS install.

The problem with this is that I'm going to need to use it for at least a couple of days to see if the glitch still exists. Sometimes I've gone almost the whole day without seeing it...

I will return my 2020 in the top configuration. Now I'm doing tests with my 2019 and some things upset me. For example, the Render in Blender for 2019 took 2 minutes 40 seconds., in 2020 - 2 minutes 19 seconds. Yes faster, but this is a pittance, but the most interesting thing when there was a render for 2019, he was silent without a single noise, the render for 2020 SCREAMED like a MADMAN FOR all 2 minutes!

+ + a crucial glitch in the program I need, the reasons for which are unclear - is also crucial in choosing 2019

Hmm. How's the install going for you? Been staring at a black screen with the Apple logo for many minutes now. No progress bar or anything else.

Exactly the same for me. Stuck here for about 20-30 mins and no progress yet. I’m guessing it’s frozen, but going to leave another half an hour and see...

Yeah, going to wait. But, I have a feeling this isn't compatible. Maybe that note in their release notes for beta 6 was really meant for beta 7 like it says? The main macOS beta page is still saying it's not compatible with this iMac. But, that could obviously be a relic since it looks like that page has been the same for a while.

Where’s the minds at Apple right now? Certainly not on details and QC. Maybe the stock market? ?

I assume it wouldn't let you install if it wasn't compatible?
The way you find out if it's compatible, according to Apple, is if the installation proceeds normally. If it doesn't, then, well, it's not. I saw that language somewhere before installation. It is a beta after all.
