Just switch the resolution setting on your iMac and the glitch disappears. I'm running in this mode and I have no issues whatsoever. None. Only when switching to the "Default" display resolution does the glitch return. Everyone who is having this issue, change the display resolution one click up or down from "default" and it will be fixed until Apple sends a patch.

What about the corner issues?

I have one straight corner in the FaceTime window (upper left). I don't have "corner issues" in any of my finder windows or any of my other apps, including those with dark display like FaceTime. Here is a finder window for your inspection, your eyes are probably better than mine.

Graphical line glitching is solved for me by simply switching into a higher scaled resolution. I don't mind the extra screen real estate, either! :)

Thank you for this. Such strange behavior to all be caused due to a GPU. Surely Apple’s engineers are replicating these issues now and can get a handle on it.

I’m even considering the iMac Pro because of these issues. I know it doesn’t make sense price to performance wise, but stability and maturity have value to me. My luck I’d buy one and then it would promptly be discontinued. ?

Is anyone with a new Mac Pro and the W5700X GPU having these issues?

3rd Public Beta of Big Sur is now available.
Maybe it fixes us? Anyone have this installed?

I don't think you'll be happy with a computer that hasn't been updated in 3 years and with slower graphics hardware. The only advantages to the iMac Pro vs 2020 iMac are dual TB3 busses and faster internal SSD. The different cooling architecture of iMac Pro is required to support the hotter Xeon chips with many more cores. It's not something that is needed for the iMac CPUs and not something I would consider an advantage that would show in any real world way.

You also can't upgrade the RAM in an iMac Pro without taking the thing apart. I hope Apple is working on a blowout iMac Pro with Apple Silicon for next year. If not, it's days are certainly numbered.

The corner glitch is there in every window type it manifests in at Default, too. In fact, here's the Display preferences window itself, right after switching and moving it once:

As we have already tested here numerous times, switching the resolution does not resolve the glitching. We have gone through every possible display and accessibility setting and these issues are not solved by any of these changes.

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but the square corner thing is a 5700 XT 2020 iMac issue only? Is this occurring on any other machines with 10.15.6?

Me too. White horizontal flicker. A few times an hour.

i7, 5700 XT, only 8 GB (come on Crucial, where's my extra?)

For what it's worth, I received my second iMac 2020 (i7, 5700XT) today, which was assembled just last week. Line glitch and corner glitch still a thing.

Will Apple be obliged to repair or replace the 5700XT iMac's if it's found to be hardware?
Under warranty, yes.

Under extended AppleCare warranty, yes.

By law, it depends on your location. In the UK and EU, yes.

Which goes to my earlier point. Why has Apple asked us for screen shots, videos and logs, etc when all they have to do is test out their own product. SINCE EVERY 5700XT DOES IT!

Thanks for reporting... and... that just sucks! But, and as we're all hoping here, it's sounding more and more like software. Unless there's a massive batch of faulty hardware (either the video card itself of something else).

That's probably what they're trying to ascertain to a high degree of certainty, but yeah fair point

I never was talking about corner glitching. I was talking about the white line. I was responding to someone else's post about corner glitching, which is a UI compositing issue I couldn't care less about.

Because it's a good idea to gather a certain amount of data to make narrowing things down easier. In the beginning, when Apple receives reports of issues, you will be contacted by "information gatherers" who build up cases that then probably get reviewed by somebody somewhat higher up the chain. Maybe some initial research is done as to the reproducibility of the issues. The issue then gets assigned a priority. And it eventually makes it out to the team responsible for fixing it. When you get that far into it, you will want to have a healthy amount of data to make the best of that team's time for as complete a fix as possible.

Sorry Apple I don't mean to SNITCH,
But the 5700XT has a white line GLITCH.

All us Apple loyals are PRAYING,
So don't be DELAYING,
Give us a software patch and we'll start HOORAYING.

This thread is 38 pages DEEP,
My boy KKH is losing SLEEP.

Just saw the white line of doom while TYPING,
But I didn't ask for any STRIPING.

Apple.
