Why don't we write an e-mail right up to Tim Cook stating our glitch issue and ask for his help out with the problem. We have spent thousands of dollar for our iMac's and we are loyal customers to Apple. I think this is our right to send such an e-mail. With the names of ours listed on e-mail.
Not a bad idea.

Add me to the list with the Mac Pro - the W5700X experiences the same graphical glitches. AMD issue for sure as even the PC guys are complaining about these Navi cards, but because Apple is using them in their products by extension it becomes an Apple issue.

Then that means these issues have been ongoing for much longer with no fix. Why would Apple put a GPU in the iMac that they were already having trouble with in the 7,1 MP? ?‍♂️ Wow ?

This makes me even more nervous that they are going to let Catalina die like this and simply move on to BS. What a load of BS if true. ?

Even though I have previously spoken to an Apple mid-level tech support person regarding the glitch (that was a few weeks ago at this point). I decided to call Apple Tech Support today just to see if they were aware/unaware of the glitch. The lady on the other end wasn't. Her best suggestion was to reset V-RAM.

So it seems that Apple still hasn't told all it's tech employees about the glitch. Which leads me to believe they aren't addressing this issue anytime soon.

Because that’s helpful
Maybe you don’t care. You keep saying you’re getting on fantastically and have a ‘near perfect’ machine. Great for you! You’re fine using ‘workarounds’, or as I like to call them, ‘Apple passes’. It’s doesn’t negate the fact that the iMac has bugs that need to be fixed.

The amount of days it takes reminder is a good reference point. It turns out that 7,1 MP users have the same issues. The 5700 has been available to them for many more months. NOT acceptable.

Since you’re so content there really isn’t any reason for you to continue to visit this thread is there? If it rubs you the wrong way to read that some of us aren’t accepting these issues you might save yourself the stress. Have a wonderful day with your ‘perfect’ machine!

Does it help anyone solve the problem? Does it make it get fixed any faster? Does it help anyone in any way whatsoever or is it just a way for you to vent?

I continue to visit this thread to provide a counterpoint to all the drama expressed by people who don’t find it acceptable. It’s not ideal - hell, I *started* the thread for chrissake! - but it is absolutely not a showstopper for many.

You’re not going to bully me out of this thread and I don’t think that only people who are rending their clothes in despair should be allowed to post in it.

Is this not a place to vent? Or precisely the forum to make the point that not everybody is okay receiving something short of what they paid for. By the way, I'm at 16 pairs of ripped Nudie Jeans for the day. And I love those jeans. Goddammit, Apple!

If people want to use this thread to vent, I'm not going to do anything to stop them. But there should be no illusion that it's actually helpful or moving the conversation forward. And that's fine; not all comments in a thread need to be useful or helpful. I'm just calling them like I see them, though.

And as far as the Nudie jeans...That's on you, man! But you should send Tim a bill, anyway! Sounds like the makings of a class action lawsuit. ?

LOL, I am not 'bullying' anyone at all. Oh, and to answer your question, YES it 'helps' me. You see, that's the beauty of being an individual. I am not you and you are not me. What works for me doesn't work for you. We are not clones. Live and let live. Stop trying to dictate what the 'norm' is. I quite like knowing how many days have passed without a fix. I am an analytical type and it soothes my analytical mind. Have a wonderful day!

Yeah, none of this is really useful in any real sense (i.e. this is not the thread that will make Apple do the fixes they need to do... or, so I assume) but it is all we have for now. I come here every day to see if others have discovered anything else/new about the problem. So, thank you for starting it and also continuing to voice how you feel about it. And it is not a showstopper problem, like you put it. At least not in its current form. If it gets worse over time (because it really is hardware or because new drivers make the problem worse due to it somehow failing to follow the Metal spec or something else) then that's a different discussion.

I can join the club. A few glitches while the migration assistant was running and some more while working at the Mac. Not very often, but hard to miss, quite surprising, that nearly none of the Youtube reviews addressed this problem. But maybe I only noticed it, because I was aware of this problem.

I can work with the Mac but honestly, it is really disappointing that, buying a 6300 EUR computer from a company that was once known for attention to detail, I have to deal with it.

I guess I am being optimistic in thinking that maybe, just maybe, Apple does indeed watch these threads (actually I know for a fact they do) and by not 'rolling' over and settling for 'workarounds', that it might indeed encourage them to do the right thing, and in a timely manner. ;)

Yup. And it doesn’t mention anything about the White Line Of Doom. But maybe they were so embarrassed they just fixed it and didn’t mention anything.
Weird, I am not showing any new updates. Are you sure this isn't the update that came out awhile ago? Maybe you never installed that update.

Received my iMac with the 5700XT today. Saw one line during setup. Changed the display setting to larger text [2048 x 1152] which I would of done anyway, and have yet to see another line after 5 hours of use, FWIW.

Will report back if that changes.
