considering the MBA keeps selling out, i'd say there's plenty of people enjoying their "imoments" with it.
I'm not sure what you're saying, but do know that I'm not dissing Air. I'm just saying that I believe a lot of people will be disappointed if the iMac-to-be turns out to be MacAir on a stand.

You have a lot of reading to catchup on.![]()
I was all worked up over getting a new iMac for the last couple of months, but wanted to get the latest update. At this point, I'm worn out and have decided to scrap the whole idea of a new iMac till the end of the year. Surely, something new will be out by then. In the mean time, maybe I will take my "Apple" money and buy some new lens for my camera or a new HDTV. My wait is over................
Right answer, wrong solution.
To combine two of the most successful ad campaigns: Think different, and just do it--that is, just buy it.
And enjoy it.
I have two words for you.I think what hurts is paying full price for a computer that is 8+ months old. Usually components go down in price over that span (cpu, ram, drives, lcd). I don't know what dell or hp was selling 8 months ago, but whatever it was it is a decent amount cheaper now, or the same dollars will buy more up to date components in larger quantities.
If the iMac and Mini will be updated once per year, the price needs to come down every few months, then jump back when a new model is released.
Again, i just feel like a delay to the update is caused by the strong iMac sales. Apple is selling 8 month old hardware at todays prices and they are trying to squeeze every cent out of that as long as they can. The longer they can keep selling the current iMac the higher their profit margin goes. Nothing wrong with that if you are the company, but it sucks for people wanting to buy.

Refurbished Macs
That's the best you're going to get on aging Apple hardware before an update. I don't recommend the price jumping either. Newer, faster hardware just gets silently put in on the Windows only side at the same price.

Having said that, I am very happy with my 2.16ghz iMac, it's quite quick (waiting on an update to buy 2nd iMac). But just because the current gen iMac is a great performing computer doesn't mean you should pay full price for 8 month old hardware.

i don't think you're answer is right either. if apple updates the iMac's in june with montevina, buy it right away. That's the right answer when it comes to apple products.. buy it as soon as its released. we're so close to the new revision anyway, whats another month or two or waiting, especially compared to waiting until the end of the year.
although i will say this for waiting beyond the next revision... at some point by june 09, we'll see iMac's with these specs
one USB 3.0 port, blu-ray (not that I really care about that, lol), Intel true quad-core nethelam processors (4 processors on a single dye=blazing fast, 1066 mhz front side bus, DDR3, 2GB standard memory, 22" and 26" LCDs (better than HD resolution), graphics cards with 512 mb standard.
I've been wrong about a lot of things in my life, so...yeah...this could be another in a series.
On the other hand, if the poster is forgoing the enjoyment of a new iMac because he can't bear the thought of paying full price for (OMG) 8-month-old technology, AND he's taking that money to buy a HDTV, when HDTV isn't exactly fresh technology, and is only going to get cheaper, I still think he's better off buying AND enjoying the iMac.
I mean, really...HDTV is still TV.

More like 4GB standard.
Also, Nehalem does not have a front side bus. It will use quick path![]()
Would you rather pay $1,500 for 8 month old technology or current technology?
Well, if you keep the "current technology" computer for just 8 months, you will have ended up paying $1500 for "8 month technology" in any case.
So, again, would you rather pay the same for technology that will be outdated sooner or later?
