Ordered mine the August 13th, still processing but Apple just collected their money. ETA September 11th.

No nano texture
8 core 3.8GHz
8GB RAM
4TB SSD
5700 XT 16GB
numeric keyboard

Edit: ordered a kit with 2x32GB Crucial RAM
Product number CT2K32G4SFD8266 which crucial says is not compatible with the iMac, but it seems identitical to their Mac kit except the Mac kit is more environmentally friendly. So since the Mac kit is not currently available in Scandinavia I’m taking my chances.

Haven’t had a Mac as a primary in a few years, though I’ve had a late 2012 Mini since just after the disappointing 2014s were announced for home server and automation stuff (Indigo is just so much better than the other options I looked at).

The new 27” iMac is pulling me back in, despite me being sure I’d never go for one.

3.8Ghz i7
Regular glass
5700 XT 16gb
8GB ram (Ordered 32 gigs of 2019 spec from Crucial)
1TB SSD
10Gb ethernet (I have a big NAS and updating house network as soon as 24 port switches come down a bit)
Keyboard with numpad + Magic Trackpad.

Delivery Sept (!) 10th-17th. Funny enough, the SSD is what pushed it way out. With everything else, it was still just end of August. And only adding an SSD upgrade (any size) pushes it out that far.

It was the 9th - 16th for the same config yesterday.

I have some second guessing regrets on i7 vs i9. But I don’t think I’ll NEED the 10/20 cores. Heck, I’ve been using my 2012 mini as a primary for a few days (the 4/8 core 2.3Ghz i7 with an SSD I added) and it has been much more decent day to day than I expected. Very usable. It does spike pretty hard sometimes on 4 or 5 cores, but, eh. Seven processor generations, twice as many cores/threads, and a base clock higher than the mini’s boost clock should make mincemeat of those tasks.

Part of me kind of wants the i9 anyway. I guess I have adequate time to cancel the order and try again if I see a compelling review before it ships. Can’t forget the ram cost and the software costs that aren’t on the invoice either though.

Anyone else second guessing their processor choice?

I considered the 10 core, but decided that what really is important for me is how responsive After Effects, Premiere, Cinema 4D, Lightroom and Illustrator are while I’m using the programs - slightly faster render times or exports do not really matter for me.

The 8 core 3.8GHz benefits from the higher base speed per core and the Puget System benchmarks for Lightroom and After Effects confirms that the responsiveness during active use of these programs should be practically the same with the 8 and 10 core CPUs.

Apparently mine is being delivered today but my last status is :

In Transit

No import clearing to Scotland yet - should I be expecting one before delivery? Here's hoping! This work laptop is going to get chucked into a cupboard forever very soon :)

Derp...and just like that, as soon as I whine a little bit, it's departed Kentucky and made me look silly. lol.
I’ve sent so many work emails over the years complaining about a problem, only to receive an “it’s been fixed!” email as a reply. There must be some cosmic joker who gets a kick out of pulling this stunt. :)

Bad news. My iMac is now “awaiting clearance” in Louisville. No delivery date shown. Apple’s order status now says Friday from its previous Thursday. Again, as long as it arrives before the weekend so I can set it up, I’ll be ok.

I have the same config and was quoted the 9-16 timeframe when I ordered. Hoping my order goes like many others here and gets delivered ahead of schedule.

Would like someone other than UPS to deliver it though. In May, it took UPS a month to find my package after it had been received by the local warehouse. The replacement the company shipped was delivered 1 day before the original order was somehow found and delivered.

Comparing the sound between Lg ultra fine 5k/ iMac Pro /iMac 2020 definitely doesn't sound as good as the lg ultra fine 5k but with the iMac Pro expected iMac to be worse

Mine was loaded onto a delivery vehicle at 6:41am, but at 7:59am it was "released by the customs agency?" WTF!

I also got the “released by the customs agency” at 7:59. So strange!

Mine isn’t “out for delivery” yet but it’s at the the distribution center 15 minutes away! Yay!!!

It was nice to have others to ride the UPS roller coaster with! ? Enjoy your new iMac! ♥️
