shipping!!! :D

when did you order yours??

Okay, I've finally got to a "PREPARED FOR SHIPPING" status. What happens then? Do they then state "SHIPEED" or "SHIPPING"? Also, typically how long does the "PREPARED FOR SHIPPING" status remain?

typically it changes to "shipped" aftr one day :)

alright just another update for you guys I called apple customer services again and they have now stated that for uk orderes in particular there is not only a problem with the depot backlog but there is also a shortage of the 500gb hard drives so anyone with the BTO imac 24" will have to wait a few days extra. I would advise giving apple service line a call and ask for priority 1 shipping.

Hey nice update there!! Nice one! How about a 24 inch standard 2.4 models? Are they okay, do you know?

I didnt hear them say anything about the regular models all they said was they had been overwhelmed by the number of orders coming in for 24" models which has caused the backlogs.

It's the same for the stores too. the 20 was pretty easy to get hold of in Regents Street, but 24s were out of stock for ages!! I guess the difference in price from the previous generation and a whole lotta people waiting for these upgrades meant a big, big surge of orders! Think Apple have got caught cold a little bit by this one!

Mines prepared for shipping now, as of last night, so hopefully it will have shipped soon!

OK, I'm back again.

Sometime during the night my status jumped to "Prepared to Ship". So my 20" is apparently being shipped on the last day of the projected shipping window. With the holiday weekend, I am assuming the earliest I will get is it tuesday. It is being delivered to my office, as suggested, because of the necessity for a delivery signature. I have to remember to let the receptionist know to look for my package from Apple next week. Anyway, I will post the progress as it happens, or at least try to. I do have that pesky job thing that always seems to get in the way of all my fun.

Perhaps the fact that I have the 500Gb hard drive was a factor in the order taking the maximum time to fill, due to the "shortage" suggested above.

Anyway, I'm pretty pumped up. Finally replacing the old G3, and my daughter will finally be able to play "Sims". She is pretty excited too. :D

29 Aug 2007 22:55 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot

Same as you mate, exactly the same time 22:55 shipped but to the UK. Maybe they are on the same transit and will depart closer to Europe. Lets hope we get them this week.

Following up....

24 2.4 with 2gb ram and 500 GB HD ordered 15 Aug. Prepared for shipment on 25th shippped 27th arrived 29th to West Coast Canada via Anchorage, Memphis, Toronto, Vancouver. Was supposed to ship by 24th latest so got out a little late with weekend....I thought those in China worked weekends.

The computer is just perfect no problems at all. Quiet in the extreme. No dead/stuck pixels

That's strange how it went from Anchorage -> Memphis ... and finally to Vancouver.

I'm in Vancouver as well, mine just left Shanghai.

It's been approximately 36 hours since I posted this and the FedEx tracking website hasn't been updated since...still says the same thing. Makes me a little nervous as I really need/want this by the weekend. I know that they can be slow with updates, but this is kind of crazy.

Anybody else still stuck between Shanghai and Anchorage?

UPDATE:

Just updated...just great-WTF?! Did it get lost in transit for 36 hours?! So much for getting it by the weekend. :(

Mines just been shipped to my hometown, and picked up by TNT today. How long does it take to deliver? Am I likely to get it tomorrow?

Mine is the same way there PieMac, I noticed your in Ga and I'm in Atlanta. Ordered mine on 19th, left Apple's door on the 29th, ordered the 2-3 day expedited shipping and now they're saying the 5th? They're getting a call from me. If they offer 2-3 day shipping, it's their responsibility to ensure it gets here within that time or make the customer happy if it's late. Regardless of the carrier they choose. Sounds like those Shanghai Fed Ex boys are slacking.

I called FedEx to see if there was any possibility of Saturday delivery, but they said since it's FedEx Express, no...then I asked if I could just go pick it up and they said I'd have to have Apple's permission...?! So, I called Apple and they said that the only way I could pick it up would be if FedEx attempted delivery first. And so the run-around begins....
Really, it does look to be that those "Shanghai Fed Ex boys are slacking" as Apple had it ready to ship on time. I didn't pay for the expedited shipping, but Apple did say delivery should be 2-3 days regardless.

Good luck and let me know if you make any headway with Apple compensating you! Guess we'll just have to bite the bullet and wait  :(

Yah I know. I tried earlier and when I finally got a ring, it kept ringing, doesn't look good for a first time switcher from windows to apple if this is the level of support. I've dealt with MS Support for 10 years with my last company and it's been top notch. I'm really itching for this thing. I'll be glad either way since Im taking the whole day off when it comes but it seriously (looks like yours and mine are on the same shipment) looks like it sat in Shanghai for almost 24hrs, (picked up 1212pm 29th, in transit update at 902pm on the 30th?) Customs I can understand and that's another BS runaround to worry about when it finally hits Anchorage.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited and delighted to make the switch and this incident won't sway me away from Apple. Just because a few ppl are lazy doesn't mean the whole company is this way. I've followed Apple for a long time. However, the principle is the same no matter what company a consumer deals with. If you sell and charge your customers for 2-3 day shipping, no matter what it's YOUR responsibility to ensure that what you sold them happens. I'm not looking for freebee's, I'm not greedy like that, I just want my iMac.

I'm like a kid waiting on the tooth-fairy and end up waking up to an IOU letter where my tooth was...... WTH? :D

Will try a call and update what I find out, in the meantime, gonna visit Apple store to spend money there LOL

I'm surprised it's not out for delivery yet, but I'm sure it will be fine. I'm just glad it's coming via FedEx and not UPS. The delivery estimate is for 10:30AM, which is a lot better than the 9:30PM deliveries UPS loves to make in my low-priority college town... Good luck, all!

LOL...no kidding.

Congrats on making the switch! :)

I've been a "macoholic" since 2002 and have never looked back. And I've been really pleased with Apple's customer service through the years...at least for the most part. in fact, the CS rep knocked $50.00 off the price just as a goodwill gesture when I placed this order, so I really can't complain...except that FedEx really dropped the ball on this one.

For those who had their 24 shipped how much did it weigh? Apple just shipped my order out and I ordered 2 but the weight seems low for 2 systems 16.4kgs. Thanks!
