Okay, I've finally got to a "PREPARED FOR SHIPPING" status. What happens then? Do they then state "SHIPEED" or "SHIPPING"? Also, typically how long does the "PREPARED FOR SHIPPING" status remain?
typically it changes to "shipped" aftr one day![]()
alright just another update for you guys I called apple customer services again and they have now stated that for uk orderes in particular there is not only a problem with the depot backlog but there is also a shortage of the 500gb hard drives so anyone with the BTO imac 24" will have to wait a few days extra. I would advise giving apple service line a call and ask for priority 1 shipping.
Hey nice update there!! Nice one! How about a 24 inch standard 2.4 models? Are they okay, do you know?
I didnt hear them say anything about the regular models all they said was they had been overwhelmed by the number of orders coming in for 24" models which has caused the backlogs.

It's been approximately 36 hours since I posted this and the FedEx tracking website hasn't been updated since...still says the same thing. Makes me a little nervous as I really need/want this by the weekend. I know that they can be slow with updates, but this is kind of crazy.
Anybody else still stuck between Shanghai and Anchorage?
UPDATE:
Just updated...just great-WTF?! Did it get lost in transit for 36 hours?! So much for getting it by the weekend.

Mine is the same way there PieMac, I noticed your in Ga and I'm in Atlanta. Ordered mine on 19th, left Apple's door on the 29th, ordered the 2-3 day expedited shipping and now they're saying the 5th? They're getting a call from me. If they offer 2-3 day shipping, it's their responsibility to ensure it gets here within that time or make the customer happy if it's late. Regardless of the carrier they choose. Sounds like those Shanghai Fed Ex boys are slacking.

I called FedEx to see if there was any possibility of Saturday delivery, but they said since it's FedEx Express, no...then I asked if I could just go pick it up and they said I'd have to have Apple's permission...?! So, I called Apple and they said that the only way I could pick it up would be if FedEx attempted delivery first. And so the run-around begins.
Really, it does look to be that those "Shanghai Fed Ex boys are slacking" as Apple had it ready to ship on time. I didn't pay for the expedited shipping, but Apple did say delivery should be 2-3 days regardless.
Good luck and let me know if you make any headway with Apple compensating you! Guess we'll just have to bite the bullet and wait![]()
Here's my updated tracking information for those of you wondering how long your iMac might take to get from point A to point B:Here's what's happened so far:
8/16: Ordered 20" 2.0GHz iMac with wireless keyboard and mouse + 8GB iPod Nano.
8/17: Called and changed to wired keyboard because of shipping delay.
8/17: iPod shipped.
8/21: iPod delivered.
8/26: iMac prepared for shipment.
8/27: iMac shipped.
8/30: iMac estimated delivery.
Yah I know. I tried earlier and when I finally got a ring, it kept ringing, doesn't look good for a first time switcher from windows to apple if this is the level of support. I've dealt with MS Support for 10 years with my last company and it's been top notch. I'm really itching for this thing. I'll be glad either way since Im taking the whole day off when it comes but it seriously (looks like yours and mine are on the same shipment) looks like it sat in Shanghai for almost 24hrs, (picked up 1212pm 29th, in transit update at 902pm on the 30th?) Customs I can understand and that's another BS runaround to worry about when it finally hits Anchorage.
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited and delighted to make the switch and this incident won't sway me away from Apple. Just because a few ppl are lazy doesn't mean the whole company is this way. I've followed Apple for a long time. However, the principle is the same no matter what company a consumer deals with. If you sell and charge your customers for 2-3 day shipping, no matter what it's YOUR responsibility to ensure that what you sold them happens. I'm not looking for freebee's, I'm not greedy like that, I just want my iMac.
I'm like a kid waiting on the tooth-fairy and end up waking up to an IOU letter where my tooth was...... WTH?![]()
