$150! Ouch! Although, I ordered an iPhone 5 unlock "2 to 4 days, allow up to 7 days" from ebay (bfelts9@gmail.com). 3 days into it, still nothing.
Damn you, AT&T. Damn you to hell.

----------

Or even better, have AT&T unlock it for FREE and PERMANENTLY.

People, if a phone is off-contract in the USA - the carrier is REQUIRED BY LAW to unlock it at no charge.

Now if I could just get my 5s unlocked :(

*************. I have an off-contract iPhone 5 that I've been desperately trying to unlock since the insanity started, and tried to go through the AT&T route. Used their web site, request was turned down right away. Called, the service rep said it had to be done from the account of the previous owner of the phone who had it on their service. Called the guy who sold the phone to me and asked him to request the unlock. This time, it took two days, but then we got the rejection notice without any explanation. They can do whatever they want and are accountable to no one. I can tell you one thing, I will never, ever, EVER AGAIN patronize AT&T, and I've been telling all my friends to switch away from it. They're a bunch of thieves and liars.

Have you gotten it unlocked yet?

No. I ordered 8 days ago, and today received the following message:
Your unlocks are still in process!

we have been working hard to find a cheap and efficient source, as things have JUST changed within the system.

I am expecting unlocks to process in the next 5-10 business days. BUT, I may be able to process them IN A FEW HOURS! We are working with a new supplier who claims their turnaround time is almost immediate.

stay tuned! I will provide an update this evening :)

Thanks for your business!

So I'm still waiting for the update but I'm feeling a little more hopeful.
I did purchase an R-SIM9 and couldn't get it to work either, it almost looks like it's going to work and then it switches to the activation screen and tells me the card is not authorized. I'm using an AT&T-locked iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4, which is supposedly supported -- yeah, right. That worthless POS is going back.

I have a locked iPhone 5S AT&T.

Finally i can unlock it by using RSIM 9 Pro. Its cheap , about 22$.

Its not IMEI/Permanent unlocked though but it does the job. :)

I got the RSIM 9 Pro and can't get it to work, and the instructions on the web site are written in such bad english they're incomprehensible. Care to share with the class?

I received an email from Chronic Unlocks yesterday telling me that my 5s has been unlocked.

I haven't had a chance to test this as yet because I'm waiting for a nano T-Mobile sim to arrive from ebay.

Chronic also says that if I have to exchange the phone at a Genius Bar, the replacement would be unlocked as well. Should be interesting.

Unlocks are tied to the IMEI so the claim that a replacement phone would also be unlocked is BS.

Interesting how you read it as Will telling porkies but I read it that Apple will unlock any phone that is a replacement for one that has been 'legitimately' unlocked....
Does Apple view a third-party unlocking site as legitimate?

The answer is most likely, NO.

The answer is most likely, NO.

All IMEI unlocks are white listed by Apple and therefore 'legitimate'.

I am guessing that if Apple replace a phone who's IMEI is on their whitelist they will either automatically or upon request, unlock the replacement phone.

They don't.

You'll have go through the official party who requested the unlock.
They can only replace with a similar, locked, phone which in turn needs to be unlocked.

Had this exact issue with my AT&T locked IP4 which was unlocked through AT&T.
Apple could only supply a locked phone as replacement which had to go through the the unlock process at AT&T.

If the phone was factory unlocked THEY DO give you a replacement that is unlocked. I was surprised by this but it is true I know it for a fact since it happened to me. I got an unlock back when they were cheap on my iphone 5 which was locked upon purchase and they replaced it with an unlocked iPhone 5.

Well factory unlocked is something different ofcourse as it already paid for at the full unsubsidezed price.

You indeed got lucky as it is not standard policy to replace a locked phone with unlocked phone

Hello everyone , do you know any safe site that supports IMEI unlock for iphone 4s , 5 locked in italian networks?
Thank you in advance :) !

No, I've never had need to get a phone replaced.

So Will will get it unlocked for free then, is how I read it. Has anyone tried actually asking him?

When i had mine replaced the Apple Genius called AT&T, they confirmed that the replacement would be unlocked but it would have to go through the AT&T process.

Apple van only replace a locked phone with a locked phone.

I have done this too. I purchased a locked phone, got it unlocked through swiftunlocks, and when I needed a replacement under warranty, it was replaced with an unlocked phone since it now shows up in Apple's system as UNLOCKED=TRUE.

Yep, this was my experience when Apple replaced my iPhone 5. I had my no contract full price iPhone 5 replaced by Apple. When I reminded the Apple employee my phone was unlocked, he immediately unlocked my replacement right there in the store.

Of course they'll give you a factory unlocked replacement if you've purchased full price. I'm surprised they do it for people who purchased unlock codes, like the guy you quoted.

Ofcourse they do.
What is non-standard is when they replace a locked unit with an unlocked unit.

Basically your charging people to unlock phones that they can get AT&T to unlock for free. You are a scam artist you're duping people into paying for something they can get done for free

Thanks for agreeing with me. Irescue is in fact a scam artist, he never had that warning on his site, only until after the fact. Any person who knows how to use google and read can determine they can submit a AT&T unlock request for $0

I was looking to get my phone unlocked. At this point I did get a refund because my card company stands by my side. And I did purchase a successful unlock from Another unlocked.

People.... Stay away from irescueunlocks unless you want aggravation or donate your money

I can safely confirm this clearly.
If your device is factory unlocked in any which way and is still in contract or not, apple will replace it with an unlocked device. Essentially apple transfers the unlock status over to the new replaced device. When you ask them, all they do is validate in their system that your previous device was unlocked and tell you to wait 10 mins to start the new phone as the unlock status takes time to transfer. However in my experience that too is not needed.

I've replaced numerous phones and this is my clear observation.

I'm on AT&T and in contract. I recently had an iPhone 5 replaced with water damage and me and the apple store genius had a long discussion if it was worth to get it replaced by paying the replacement fee. She too mentioned your old one was unlocked so the new one would be the same and that's worth a lot.

Hope this clears the understanding. By the way I got mine unlocked by ideviceguys.com. I took their 135 dollar service. I paid for it on Friday and my unlock was done Monday. It's a 5s
