Base M1 Max with 512 drive available TODAY for pickup. I ordered the 1TB drive so I'll wait it out until April 7-14 or continue to daily check apple.com like the obsessed zombie I am.

Picking up base Ultra and height adjustable display in a few hours. Was going to get 4TB but 1TB will do.
Same here. I figured that even 4TB won‘t be enough and I didn‘t want to spend Apple‘s prices for 8TB. Now got the base Ultra and I‘ll keep using my PCIe SSD in a thunderbolt box.
And maybe upgrade the internal SSD later once people have figured out how to open the Mac Studio and when parts are available.

Yup, my current iMac is 1TB with a 2TB NVMe thunderbolt SSD hanging off the back of it, mainly for iCloud photos originals. I’ll continue to use that. Would’ve been nice to have everything internal but the wait for BTO is just too long this time.

Ordered Mac Ultra in Sacramento for pick-up today. Looked at the availability in Northern CA. Almost all stores do not have availability, kind of implies each store only a few units.

Decided to cancel my Base M1 Max order with 1 TB storage. I have a ton of external storage to work with at home and I never came close to filling the 512 GB hard drive on my M1 Mini. This has allowed me to order my Mac Studio for pickup at my local store TODAY as opposed to waiting another 3 weeks! Can't wait to start using this thing!

People who are familiar with Jordan Taylor Wright (Taylor Cut Films), may be interested in this video that will be released Friday morning at 11 AM EDT. I imagine that it's been commissioned by Apple:

First three minutes is a promotional video for the Mac Studio and Display, then a brief discussion. Looks like Taylor intends to make a video comparing the Mac Studio to the 16" MacBook Pro that he uses.

Arizona has the base model available pretty much everywhere except Tucson. Ultra model not so much. Not available anywhere nearby or even within 300 miles.

Ordered the base model and going to pick it up in about an hour. Can't wait!

Edit: All models gone in AZ now.

Maybe a topic for another thread, but I wonder if people waiting for BTO models will see a decrease in wait times now that presumably many are cancelling their orders? However, if I had to guess, people cancelling their BTO orders probably had a lengthy wait time to begin with to the point where most people still waiting for BTO models won't notice a difference ?‍♂️

The base M1 Max computers are still available at most New York City Apple stores. I ordered one just after 4 PM and the Store says that it will deliver it by 7 PM. Delivery is $9, which is less than it would cost me to park if I drive to the store.

Question is, who is buying all these Studio Macs....?

Are people going from iMac to Studio / Mini to Studio / Mac Pro to Studio.......

They seem to be in very high demand.

I am not going from any particular Mac to the Studio. I bought it because I wanted to obtain an AS Mac (I originally purchased the M1 Mini but returned it shortly after). I had a 14" M1 Pro MBP that I had waiting for pickup the day the Studio was released and ended up passing on it after the Studio announcement.

As with many Apple products on launch day supplies are constrained so I am not sure that quickly selling out means much. I think the Max was in greater supply than the Ultra and thus the longer availability of pickup for it over the Ultra.

Pretty much every store in the Bay Area had the Ultra at 5AM. Union Square sold out as i was figuring out pickup times, but I scored at Stonestown right afterwards.

I checked back at 6:15 AM and the ultra config was unavailable everywhere except east bay (walnut creek and Pleasanton). So wasn't too bad to pick up if you logged on right when stock goes live. But if you didn't bother waking up early, no luck!

Yup. I woke up around 515 and the Ultra was available at Chestnut store, the store closest to me. I took too long to look for the keyboard with Touch ID that is not the new long one, and also went back to add AppleCare, and it went OOS. Had to go to Burlingame to pick it up. Scored the display at Stonestown so the 2 pickups were pretty much on the way.

Good luck! I had bad experience with courier delivery here (Chicago) last year. Driver just didn't pick up my iPhone.

Did anyone notice at the Apple Store how unusually busy today was ?

Saw lots of people picking up iPhones & iPads but very little picking up Studio Displays and Mac Studios.

I was the only one in the entire floor and people kept looking at the 2 boxes that didn't fit in an Apple retail bag.

They had 1 studio set up at my store and people lined up to try it out.

The store I picked up my Studio was busy and the individual who helped me said they're typically busy. He did say they were sold out of Studio and, more so, the Studio Display. Though it's my opinion the new Mac and display were in shorter supply than iPhones.

I'm hoping for it, but not banking on it. I hope that the chip shortage eases a bit, enough to increase output.

I’m going from the iMac 5K to the Studio plus Display. Was waiting for an iMac Pro but that’s not happening anytime soon and a “modular” system is even better for me because I can use the display also with my work MBP.
Marques Brownlee has now published his review. Apple sent him, uniquely I think, both an M1 Max and an M1 Ultra.

The Verge and Rene Ritchie at least also got both.
