Stores in the Orlando area only appear to have the base Max and Ultra models. I did get the Studio Display with height-adjustable stand for pickup later today.

Just ordered pickup for the display thru Apple.com and now a few minutes later they are all gone (for the height adjustable display)

Stores around Philly are carrying both tilt and tilt-and-height adjustable Display models in-store. They even have the nano glass version with tilt adjustment.

As for the Mac Studios, seems they are carrying only the base models (Max & Ultra) at this point.

Just ordered the base model for pickup, they have the base Max and Ultra models in the Washington DC area, although some stores don't have the Ultra base model. Picking it up today after work and once I transfer everything from the Mac mini, I will put it up for sale.

I can't cancel the Best Buy order, so I will just return that once I receive it.

This probably doesn't help, but one poster, who has worked in Apple retail, says that US store inventory is set at 5 AM Pacific/8 AM Eastern. I, and I'm sure others, would be interested in what you find out about what's available in Australian Apple Stores today.
That’s seems to be true. It’s 5:11 AM here in SoCal and my local store has both base models available.

I was hoping to see more configurations available, but I guess it makes sense to only see the base models. I feel like that's usually been the case for a long time now.

I'll likely continue to wait for what I had originally ordered (M1 Max 32 core GPU, 64gb memory, 1tb ssd), which will arrive between 3/30 an 4/6.

I think only having the base model was a great thing for me. If I have to wait 10-12 weeks for a 64 GB version, I might as well wait for the M2. 3 months of wait - I can wait another 3.

Did manage to score two displays (one with height/tilt) at two different locations. Only one location had the height/tilt opton.

So Cal report - 8 Apple Stores near me had the base models all in stock for pickup today.

Just bought Mac Studio Max base and Display base thru Apple Store for pick up today at 11:30am.

FYI:
Highly optioned Ultra was not available for store pickup.
Studio Display w/ nano & adjustable height not available for store pickup.

My Genius rep at the Apple store last week was correct!

I really want a Mac Studio, but feel like 512 GB SSD would be a major step down from my Mac Mini M1 with 2 TB (450 GB in use). The 32 GB of memory is definitely tempting, but I really need to get at least a 1 preferably a 2 TB SSD.

I felt the same, but with the I/O on this machine I’ll just use my external hard drive

You need a BTO!

OTOH I am uncertain about my purchase (base Max) because my current M1 Mini (base) is doing so well for the past 2 years and think 8GB + 251GB is more than enough.

Guess I am your typical Mac consumer - not a professional.

But since this base Studio has more storage, I will start using the Pro Apps bundle I paid $199 for!

I have a NAS that I would use if macOS would allow automatic music/photo downloads to it. Unfortunately, they won't allow it with a NAS unless you create a sparse bundle.

Yea, I need a BTO, but it pushes out the option to 10-12 weeks. Wait 3 months, might as well wait 6. The M2 likely will have a 32 GB memory option, or at least I hope. I doubt they will release the M2 Max at the same time as the base M2, but man that would be awesome if they did!

What’s everyone’s experience with checking in-store availability? Is it worth checking throughout the day or only in the morning? (Seems like my stores updated around 7:30am this morning)

My area in So Cal seems to have a lot of the base display and adjustable height models instock at 5am (PDT).

They don't have the nano + height nor VESA optioned models.

If you really want one, get one secured for pickup today.

I paid for mine and reserved noon today but won't be able to pick it up till later this weekend...

Dammitttt in the time I took to check my calendar for Ultra pickup in Pittsburgh, they flew off the shelves.
They’re still likely to have some in stock if you don’t mind the risk of driving to the store to check. Once quantities reach a certain threshold (perhaps 5?) they no longer show as available for pickup online.

Got the Base Studio and the adjustable display for pick-up this afternoon. Happy to see the adjustable was available, disappointed that there were no larger SSD options available. Think I'll cancel my BTO, though.

Usually in the morning or late evening before. I imagine people will cancel their reservations so probably worth checking during the day today. I reserved the Ultra at 2 different stores just to make sure I actually can get one and will likely cancel one. The first store went out of stock as soon as I placed the order.
