Further to post #74, if you want to see if your Spanish is up to Abarco's 4 PM review of the Mac Studio M1 Max, this is his unboxing video from earlier today:

Does anyone know when the inventory for Apple stores in Australia gets updated so they we could get an idea about which configurations might be in stores?

This probably doesn't help, but one poster, who has worked in Apple retail, says that US store inventory is set at 5 AM Pacific/8 AM Eastern. I, and I'm sure others, would be interested in what you find out about what's available in Australian Apple Stores today.

Had a look at https://www.apple.com/au and so far it looks the two base configs are available for pickup and nothing else. Not sure if that could still change.
Just did the same exploration and found the same. A bit unfortunate. I’m actually not that picky on Max vs. Ultra (as I think I’d be fine with that processing power regardless), but would LOVE to have a config with 2TB or more internal storage. The 16” MBP M1 Max did have a BTO config available in stores (that had the 4TB SSD). That doesn’t seem to be the case so far with the Mac Studio, sadly.

I preordered a Max/32GB/32core/4TB model and would have considered higher spec version but 1TB is tough for me and preorder times are now 10 weeks+.

I might get the base model Ultra anyway and keep using my 8TB external PCIe SSD. Originally my plan was not to rely on it but oh well.

It was said before but for laptops the stores typically also have 1 or 2 higher spec "ultimate" configurations in stock, even in different colors.
Also there are "only" 36 different configurations for the Mac Studio.
I would have expected them to have maybe 4 different configurations available at launch.

Maybe if the world was running in normal mode......;)
Too many problems all over the place causing shipping delays etc.

Is anyone able to confirm Australian stores have stock of the Studio Display? Whenever I check I get an error message, unlike the Mac Studio.

When I add it to the shopping bag and go to "Review Bag" view I can see that it's available in many stores.

Oh good idea! It looks like Studio Displays with the regular stand are in stock but not the height-adjustable one.

Toronto YouTuber Chris Hau has done one of the very few videos on the Mac Studio M1 Max, as distinct from the Ultra. I think that this video is really an introduction with a more detailed review to follow:

People who are familiar with Jordan Taylor Wright (Taylor Cut Films), may be interested in this video that will be released Friday morning at 11 AM EDT. I imagine that it's been commissioned by Apple:

For reference:
In the Hong Kong store, pick-ups have been available since mid-night.
Literally no "hidden BTO configs" like the usual MBPs. Only the stock Max and stock Ultra can be chosen to pick-up.

Oh boy that's unfortunate. Was hoping to pick up an Ultra with 128GB RAM and 4TB SSD in store. This would match the config that was available in store for the 16" MBP.

I don't know if Apple will add those in-store in the future, but for now the demand is apparently sky-high even for the stock configs.

I just checked, even the stock Max are gone in half of our stores.

Checked just before 6am and at my local Apple Store (UK), the only model they have for pickup today is the base Max.

Looks like the base model of both M1 Max and M1 Ultra is all that's available in the NJ area currently.
